This place is totally hidden inside the Manchester Unity Arcade. Literally a hole in the wall, Switchboard Cafe makes one richest and creamiest lattes around. Their slow cooked porridge and fruit toast is also worth trying. Their service is friendly and coffee is made quick.
For those who love coffee .. you must visit this coffee shop .. Switch Board Cafe - One of the best coffees in and around the CBD area. Superb coffee - perfectly brewed .. INDEED! It become one of my Fav coffee shop .. Quick service! Can't wait to go back!
Best coffee in the CBD hands down. Its an effort to find in the old Manchester Unity building, and if you blink when you walk past it you'll miss it entirely - its literally a hole in the wall on one side, with another slightly larger hole in the wall on the other side for seating (VERY limited) - but its quirky and cool and if you love coffee you'll never be disappointed. Its worth making an effort to try it.
They also offer limited food options like muffins and toasties (yum!). Service is fast and usually pretty friendly. A great hidden Melbourne institution, and one very worthy of your custom!
Ill have to visit next time Im in Melbourne
If you can find it, it is the best coffee in the CBD (made with Coffee Supreme South Blend). Under the Manchester Unity building, face the copper lift doors, turn left and look for two men in a cupboard. Have been a coffee regular for a few months now.
Approximate cost: $3.3
This is such a funky little cafe. It is literally a cafe built into an old switchboard. The space is tiny but oh so effective. Staff really get to know their regular customers orders. Great cupcakes and coffee. This place is just cool and a must visit, even if just passing by to have a look-see!
I come here a lot. Initially I was ensnared by the awesome cupcakes they stock (they really are some damn good cupcakes), but now I think it's the coffee that's the real trap. It's strong, flavourful and always made fast and hot. The unique setting is pretty cool too.
I caught up with friends for lunch at Switch Board cafe, which is tucked in an alley next to Manchester Unity building. The kitchen is a tiny hole in the wall, but for $7 we ate delicious hot chicken soup and a cheese tostie. They have some tables behind glass but most of the seating is in the alley, but with good friends and gas heaters you don't seem to notice. They also make nice coffee to go.
Approximate cost: $7
