lovely nice juicy steak, love the environment as well

We went to the Ball and Chain in a large family group for my husband's birthday last week. The set-up has hardly changed over the last 20 years, but why would they - the steak is fantastic - I can never go past the eye fillet medallions with forestierre sauce, personally - the salad bar tasty and great when you have kids and hungry adolescents in the party who can't wait to nosh in. The atmosphere is welcoming and not pretentious or overly yuppified like many establishments in this vicinity. Had an amazing peanut butter pie for dessert! We will be back again and again...

For a guy who isn't the biggest fan of red-meat, the Ball and Chain Grill makes me questions why a nice juicy steak isn't one of my most favourite dishes! The incredible menu and wine list is simply amazingly good, but you really must choice one of the choice cuts of steaks made to order on the the charcoal grill - topped off with your choice of sauce. My choice was a scotch fillet cooked medium, with the garlic and horseradish sauce - and i highly recommend it, even over the eye fillet - as the charcoal grill gives added flavour to the scotch fillet, especially in the juicy and fatty parts! The Salad bar is a great addition, and means that you can choose whatever you like to compliment your main meal. The wine list is exhaustive - so you will surely find a drop to match whatever you feel like! Highly recommended restaurant when in Hobart, especially after a day strolling the Salamanca Market!

Good to taste and see that here are good steak houses in Hobart! This one was great! The steak was super!!! Salad bar was good. Looked fresh and was well maintained. ( tasty & good) The atmosphere was fantastic! The service was friendly and fast!! We really enjoyed our evening so much!
