I love going to Society for special occasions and my husband's birthday gave us the reason! We enjoyed tuna carpaccio, quail sausage and calamari for primi and duck and pork for secondi. The calamari was a little chewy but the other two primi were great. The pork serving was huge compared with the duck, but all went well with a bottle of red. The service was attentive and the opportunity to watch passersby a bonus! Definitely worth visiting again!

We sampled the wild mushrooms, pulled pork roll and fillet steak special with a mixture of coffees and tea. All were served quickly with the meals accompanied by pea or other sprouts.
All were enjoyable, and I would return if in the neighbourhood, but I would not go out of my way to have lunch there.

The Chemist Warehouse near Barkly Square is convenient when doing weekly shopping - especially with its back entrance.
The organisation is confusing at times, but they stock a good range and staff are generally helpful.

We have been eating here for years but our most recent experience was a disappointment - the service was slow and although my partner loved the slow cooked pork belly, the food seemed to have lost its cutting edge quality. Nevertheless, a great place to eat pre-theatre.

We regularly dine here on a Friday night and always find the meals to be good value and enjoyable. The wine list is limited but good and there is a good range of beers on tap.

We came here for a birthday degustation menu dinner last Tuesday (my meal was free but we paid for my husband and son). The food was exquisite, the service attentive but not intrusive, and the wine list excellent. The six courses were a scallop on squid ink infused zucchini spaghetti, a baby beet and torn buffalo mozzarella on spinach salad, calves liver slices on caramelised onion with a buckwheat polenta triangle, a tallagio cheese risotto with parmesan and diced pear, sliced venison with sauteed mushrooms and a semifreddo with honey infused wild figs. Yum!! I can see why they consistently get a chef's hat in the Good Food Guide.

We have eaten here a few times and each time has been great. They have the best Peking Duck in Melbourne (even if the skin is not served separately from the meat in a traditional way) and other dishes such as Chrysanthemum Fish and Beans with Mince are great too. We will be back!!!

I was excited when a friend suggested coming here for dinner as I had read rave reviews of their Peking Duck, sadly I was much disappointed - the duck was dry and deep fried, not at all like I have had at other Melbourne restaurants. My partner's fish dish received a rave review but I could not do the same for the duck We will be back for the fish!

My family eats dinner here regularly and enjoys eating from the Specials menu. The restaurant seems to have changed hands lately - there are different wait staff, a different maitre d' and a different sashimi chef but the food continues to be good and fresh (though there are some changes to our favourites). We like that it is both licensed and BYO too.
