On our recent weekend stay in Smithon we were fortunate enough to stumble on to this award winning butcher, many trophies and sashes on display.

We purchased some of their award winning savaloys to take back to our accommodation cottage OMG to die for OLD FASHIONED the way savs used to be when i was little.

Just wish now we had of purchased some of their other small goods maybe next time we visit up that way.

The shop is clean and bright the service was friendly just the way you want it.

And did I mention the savaloys are to die for

Approximate cost: $7 kg

WOW!! what a view, the self contained cottage is at the top of a cliff, its brilliant, so private. And the view breathtaking, we spent more time outside on the deck eating and drinking or in the outside spa than we did inside.
Fully self contained, bbq, sandwich press, electric frypan, electric grill plate all the other crockery and implements you could think of or want (pizza cutter, microplane grater)
Gas oven and cooktop old fridge but it suited the way the cottage was laid out with period furniture as well as mod cons.
Iron, hairdryer, washing machine and dryer.
Two wood heaters one inside and one on the deck near the spa.
Great comfortable bed lots of pillows and extra blankets if needed.
Breakfast supplies included, we had two nights ( 500 short cut bacon, 8 eggs, weetbix, muesli, cornflakes, loaf of bread butter and spreads, two litre fruit juice)
Plenty of books magazines and kids games (n64 in second bedroom)

Peaceful relaxing you felt like you were a 100 miles from anywhere where in reality it was less than 2km to the centre of Smithton.

Wildlife everywhere, birds, wallabies possums and the resident lizards on the deck

Highly recommend and i think we just might go back ourselves

Approximate cost: $170 per night

As the name says...Not Just Books...an ABC center, they have stationary and games and the best range of calenders around
They gladly help you find exactly what your after searching on their vast data base and then will special order giving you a courtesy phone call when your item arrives.
Last week I picked up three books for $5 each in their birthday sale, each would have retailed for over $30. This was an exceptional sale but they have regular specials and always a super special bin outside ( i especially like the cheap trashy romances i know thats sad)

Gift vouchers are a specialty as well as helping with the selection of books for award prizes, they helped our kinder earlier this year pick the perfect books for our age range.

Lovely quite shop where you feel free to browse without being hassled.

Last week I took in my embroidery project which am wanting framed, my iron at home just was not cutting it. The lovely lady pressed it then and there all the creases were gone and she only charged me $2.00. I expected to have to come back later and was probably expecting to pay $5 to $10. Very impressed with the service and price needless to say I wil be returning.

My mother in on holidays and we just had some work done on her car. CV joints and wheel bearings, Jamie quoted us a price and when he found additional problems he rang us before he fixed them. In the whole great service he had the car 2 days as he had to wait on some parts but that wasnt a problem. We are planning to book in our own car soon

My husband and I just spent the weekend here to celebrate our anniversary. Yes we went to a beach house in the middle of a tassie winter, absolutely atrocious day so we were pleasantly surprised to see Leanne had lit the fire before we arrived and the whole house was toasty warm. The hideaway is a three bedroom home that sleeps 8 ( 1 queen 2 lots of bunks and a sofa bed) fully self contained. The kitchen had everything you needed even a rice cooker and great salad bowls for summer entertaining. And even cake and muffin pans if you had an extended stay and felt like baking ( not sure who would I know I wouldnt). The stand out though is the 6 person hot tub on the verandah, cranked it up to 38 degrees and even on the cold afternoon it was pure bliss and relaxation, later that night after dinner we had another go, the verandah has fairy lights and it was so good to have that light and not a harsh full light.
There is a BBQ if you want to cook that way, the bed was very comfortable with good pillows and fluffy blanket and doona. The hideaway has a very beachy feel with the colour scheme of blue and grey there were fresh flowers in the kitchen and even a Nespresso machine for yummy coffee. Only fault if I had to find one would be towels we had one each which with the hot tub was probably inadequate, although with the fire we could dry them out.
A very pleasant stay (even with the horrid weather) we would like to visit again in the summer and take friends.

In short a wonderful secluded spot for a relaxing break and a soak
Would and will recommend to friends and family

Approximate cost: $150 a night mim 2 nights

Beautiful quaint spa cabins . Two self contained cabins spaced apart for privacy on a huge plot with man made tidal lake filled with tasmanian fish, that you can feed. my hubby spent hours with his binoculars checking out the birds and found two species he hadn't seen before ( so two first in his bird book).
The cabins are well apointed but the kitchen facilities are small and there is no oven just a convection microwave kind of one. So private you forgot the road was just outside. Our hosts were great attentive when needed but left us to ourselves. was just the break we needed. Feeding the HUGE fish was a highlight.

Kayla is fantabulous, shes patient and so far hasn't turned me green..lol... But seriously lovely place to have your hair done, friendly girls great coffee and better still interesting IN DATE magazines to read. I go about every 8 weeks to get this old grey hair all covered up each time we vary my colour so it always feels fresh and new. For those that like to be daring the girls will suggest all kinds of things, for those like me who like to play it safe thats exactly what they do.

Joinery Products designed built and installed our new kitchen. Poor Cameron I kept changing my mind but nothing was too much of a bother even when I would ring him with " can I move the oven about 30 cm etc". They stuck to their time frame and the installation took two days, well one and a half the second day was the fiddly finishing bits. No mess, they carted that away and the joiners were great guys who had a joke and a laugh . They provide 3d plans so you can really see how the finished product will work, and their show room has large samples making teh choosing of finishes much easier. We love our new kitchen ans would recommend Joinery Products to anyone. Their TV adds may be painful ( if you live in tassie you will know) but their service and workmanship is first class.
