On a Friday evening, the power in my investment property unexpectedly tripped. Despite my attempts to reset the circuit breaker, it continued to trip. Consequently, I contacted an electrician from SMARTFIX.
Upon arrival, the electrician did not provide any explanation or diagnosis. Instead, he declared the property to be very dangerous, turned off all the power, and left. He claimed that he could not proceed further due to being unable to contact the property owner, despite my phone not ringing and me being unaware of any attempts to contact me.
The following Monday, I received a bill for the visit. Assuming the issue had been resolved, I paid the bill. However, a few days later, my tenant informed me that the electrician had done nothing except turn off all the power. After I had already paid the initial bill, I received a new quote from the electrician demanding $4,000 to replace all the circuit breakers.
Unwilling to accept this, I contacted another electrician who identified the source of the fault and resolved the issue without needing to replace the entire electrical panel within 1 hours. The power in the property has since been functioning perfectly.
I believe the first electrician's actions demonstrate a serious lack of professional integrity and competence. Instead of diagnosing and fixing the fault, he opted for an unnecessary and costly solution without making any real effort to identify the actual problem.
I request that your department investigate this matter thoroughly to ensure that no other consumers fall victim to such unprofessional conduct.
