This review is for Remezzo Pizza Pasta & Tapas, Ormond VIC

This place is fantastic! We went to Remezzo last night for dinner after reading so many rave reviews on WOMOW about it. It definately lived up to the expectation. From the minute we walked in the door every interaction with a staff member was friendly and positive. We ordered some Salt & Pepper Calamari and Saganake from the Tapas menu to start with an were extremely impressed. The Saganake wasn't rubbery at all, like it can be at some places if not cooked properly. They also brought out amazing freshly baked bread rolls.

For main course we ordered a Potato Pizza to share. My wife has been looking for a good potato pizza since we had one in Rome over 10 years ago. This one lived up to the expectation and we felt like we were in Italy. Really thin base, with minimal mozzerella, and topped with caramalised onions and thin slices of potato, YUM!!!

Whilst we were extremely full at this point, I couldn't say no to the Churros (Spanish Donuts) for dessert - only $6.50. This was the only slightly dissappointing part of the meal, the chocolate dipping sauce they came with was nice but the Churros we a bit heavy and didn't compare to the famous ones at the Vic market.

Just goes to show how great WOMOW is for finding fantastic businesses, I must have driven past this place literally thousands of times and never even knew it existed. I think this will become a regular haunt for us, although you do need to book well in advance because they seem to be booked out every night of the week!

This review is for Moorabbin Tile, Moorabbin VIC

We purchased porcelain floor tiles from Moorabbin Tile for a large indoor floor area. Their showroom is fantastic with hundreds of both modern and traditional style tiles in a comprehensive display. The staff are all very helpful and are more than willing to let you take home sample tiles (which you buy and they refund on return) which is really important when selecting tiles.

This review is for Saloop Cafe, Carnegie VIC

Saloop is a nicely presented little cafe with ready-made Foccacias and other items for lunch. I've had the Tandoori and Cajun foccacias (on seperate visits) and they have both been really tasty. The staff are always very pleasant and the service is fast.

This is a great nursery to visit if you're in the area. They have a lot of great gifty type stuff inside and some really nice pots/water features etc outside, in addition to all the usual plants you'll find in a nursery. You can spend ages just walking around looking at all the interesting stuff, am I not even a green-thumb.

A must see if you're passing by

This review is for Subway, Brighton VIC

verified email - 14 Sep 2007

I've been a big fan of Subway for a long-time now, but... Yesterday I was in Bay St so I thought I'd grab my favourite Chicken Teriyaki sub. When I got to the tiny Bay St Subway store there we people lining up out the door. This is not that uncommon given that the counter is about 1 metre from the door! However the reason for it was that there was only one "Sandwich Artist" on duty during the peak lunch hour!! I waited for nearly 10 mins expecting a second person to appear from the back of the shop but no-one did! Given that in the 10 mins I was waiting only 1 of the 4 customers in front of me had been served I just gave up and went somewhere else. I won't be rushing back to this store again soon.

Another thing that annoys me is that Subway's prices, they have been on a steady increase for the last couple of years and you now pay nearly $10 for a foot long sub. That's crazy when you can get a really nice focaccia at even the fanciest cafe for $8!!

This review is for EBR Physio, Bentleigh East VIC

verified email - 13 Sep 2007

I recently rolled my ankle playing squash and after nearly 10 days it was still visibly bruised and very sore. I was referred to EBR Physio by a friend so I booked in an appointment with "Nitti". She was very thorough using ultra-sound treatment, followed by deep tissue massage and then electrode therapy (which makes you foot really tingly). After all the treatment Nitti took me to their gym room and I did some balance board exercises. She also discussed exercises I could do at home to strengthen it again.

At the end when I went out the front I couldn't believe it was only $70 for all of that! And I they took my Medibank Private (you need extras) card so I actually only paid $45 for nearly an hour of treatment. I believe the subsequent visits are only $45 instead of $70.

A week later my ankle is back to about 80%.

This review is for Rosebud RSL, Rosebud VIC

This place is a typical RSL club with Pokies etc but with a twist. On Sat night it's kids night in the main bistro area. They have a dance floor at one end and they get a small local band to play great music that gets the kids up and dancing. Great place to take the kids and get a little bit of a break. There is also a great playground area too.

This review is for Half Moon Hotel, Brighton VIC

verified email - 18 Aug 2007

The Half Moon has been through a number of re-fits since it was The Station hotel. It was taken over by new owners about a year ago and they seem to be doing a good job. On Tuesday nights they have Parma & Pot for $15 or Steak & Pot for $15, and the meals are very good quality for the price. The standard meals are around the $20-$25 mark but that's typical in most pubs these days.

This review is for In a Pickle Delicatessen, Brighton VIC

verified email - 10 Aug 2007

Talk about an Attitude Problem!

We regularly go to "In a Pickle Traditional Delicatessen" to buy cold meats etc. Today I went there to buy some Rare roast beef to put on a roll for lunch. When I asked the lady for 100 grams of rare roast beef, she actually said "100 grams?" in a sarcastic way implying it's not even worth my time slicing 100 grams. I couldn't believe it and was going to say something to her but there were 10 other people in the shop so I left it.

I don't understand why a lot of these small business owners have such an attitude with their customers, after all aren't we the ones keeping them in business? So OK, I'm only buying 100 grams (which still costs $3.50 because it's $35 per kg!) today, but maybe next time I'll be buying a whole lot of other stuff for a group of people. If you don't want customers then you may as well close down!
