Mayko is by far the best hair stylist. I travel 45 minutes to see them and have been doing so for many years. You get what you pay for and quality it is.

Unprofessional is one word I’d use to describe Mayko Hair. It appears to be run by a mother daughter team (Lynda and Mel) and I was so disappointed to hear them discussing their own family members to their clients in a negative way. I felt as a business family issues should be kept at home. I also witnessed staff having faces pulled behind their backs or eyes being rolled between this mother daughter team. My hair was good, nothing to rave about, but the salon chatter which really does enhance or deflate your experience was negative and I truly would of expected more of a business owner in her business! It really doesn’t hurt to be nice and have a nice experience. Will NOT be going back! I’m going to try to find a nicer place with nicer people. The reason I gave 1 star is because I had to give a star to be able to post this, but if I could I wouldn’t of given any. I’m posting anonymously because I feel if I use my real name I’ll become the source of their next gossip session, and I feel customers when they’re paying the prices Mayko Hair charge should be met with professionalism.

First time that I have been to Mayko Hair and it definitely won't be my last I found them through a Google search for Hairdressers in my area, and made my choice based on their webpage and also the positive and honest reviews From the moment I walked in the door, I was made to feel as though I was the only client in the Salon. I was greeted with a welcoming smile from Mariah and once seated, was offered tea, coffee or water Then Issy came over and took the time to ask what I wanted to have done, then proceeded to advise me in detail of what she thought would work best for my hair. Issy is very professional, extremely patient, polite, warm and friendly I decided to have a full head of foils, wash, cut , blow wave and straightened. Issy did my foils and it seemed effortless for her, which can only be put down to years of experience and a passion for hairdressing Issy spoke to me as though we had been friends for years. Mariah washed out my foils, and she gave the most relaxing scalp massage and hair wash, whilst I sat back in the massage chair She was always very mindful that I was comfortable, from the water temperature, to brushing my hair and blow waving...extremely thoughtful Mariah is also polite, professional and very sweet. She cut my hair, blow waved it and then straightened it...the result is absolutely beautiful...I love the colour Issy suggested, the trim and blow wave Mariah gave. The other workers at the Salon were also very polite and respectful, not only to the clients in the salon, but towards each other, so refreshing to see such professionalism and mutual respect towards each other Issy and Mariah made me feel very special and I'm extremely happy with the way my hair looks...I received many compliments from family and friends, and would highly recommend Mayko Hair to anyone who wants that extra special touch Looking forward to my next appointment.

I am always tentative finding a new hairdresser, but much to my happiness I found Mayko. The team is exceptionally professional and wonderful stylists. Izzy managed my thick hair washing and cutting and styling it really well I walked out feeling like my hair was at its best! I will definitely be returning. Thanks, Ladies!

I chose Mayko as I had read some great reviews locally, and I can say I am 100% happy with the service they provided. Issy did an amazing job on my hair, and I am a fussy blonde! Exactly what I had described to her and it was finished with a lovely cut & blow wave. All ladies are really friendly and welcoming and I went home with a very generous goody bag being a first time customer. Will definitely be making a second appointment.

What an amazing Salon! I was extremely nervous about anyone touching my hair after a very disastrous experience at another salon. My hair was damaged and I needed a miracle to get it back to it’s beautiful condition and color! Well the journey has begun! Gorgeous Emma at Mayko listened to me and then began to advise me on what needed to be done, 6 weekly treatments and trims. The whole staff were friendly, attentive and genuinely concerned about me. If you got here and you are reading this review, because you are looking for the best hair salon you can find in the peninsula, don’t look further, you have found it Like you, I came across all the good reviews about MAYKO and I thought I will gave it a go. I have been going to this salon for a couple of years now and was there tonight. When I arrive I’m taken straight to my chair and offered a refreshment of my choice. Not sitting around waiting to see my hairdresser - great time scheduling on their part. I am met with a friendly inviting group of staff who make me feel very welcome. Lots of friendly chat and a genuine interest of how i am - like catching up with a friend for coffee really,however its all about the end result. I am listened to about what i want, I’m heard when i voice an opinion on what i want and i walk out with the colour, style and look that i wanted. Highly recommend.

I have been going to Mayko since I moved to the Peninsula and my experience just keeps getting better and better. Mel and her amazing staff are always friendly and so professional. I know that I will get well considered advice and care by the extremely well trained team who really listen to any concerns I have and the results when I leave the salon are always fabulous. Their colouring skills are second to none and the price point is extremely reasonable for such superior service and knowledge. Highly recommended!

I have been coming to Mayko since they opened. Every time I come, I am greeted with friendly and professional staff that do an amazing job. I constantly get comments on my hair colour, and it’s always cut in a way to suit my curls. All the girls attend a lot of training and are always happy to spend time talking me about my colour/cut. I highly recommend Mayko hair.

Have been going to Mel and her amazing team for the past 15 years for blonde foils and would never go anywhere else. They are all beautiful people providing spot on service. I always know my hair is in good hands when I go here and every time I leave with a new hair tip- whether it’s info on how to better care for my hair or a new curling technique with my straightener! I travel an hour to the salon and it’s well worth it. I also recently had Mayko do my hair for my wedding and it looked even better than my inspo photo from pinterest!

Felt pampered and listened to from the minute I walked in the door. I’ve recently moved to the area and finding a good hairdresser has been harder than finding a good doctor! Love my cut and colour- felt a million dollars when I walked out. Love the way they quote expected cost up front- no nasty surprises and reasonable prices. Easy to park for extended times- no running out to move the car in your gown. Thanks Mayko! See you again soon.

We've recently moved to the area and I'd put off having my hair done for over a year as I have had some horror hairdressers in the past. Was considering driving 70km back to my old hairdresser that I trusted! Looked up womo and found mayko. Had cut, foils and a blow wave done today, couldn't be happier!! Got an appointment immediately with Marika - she listened, and gave me a perfect set of foils, great cut and really good blow dry. It was quicker than I expected, and reasonably priced. Was welcomed by the owner too, very nice to feel welcomed as a new customer. Extremely happy with the whole experience. Highly recommended.

I was referred to Mayko by a friend (who always has great hair) and I was not disappointed. Great service, care and style. Marika is an expert with colour and gave me a fresh new look. Very reasonable prices too. I highly recommend Mayko Hair!

These girls are fantastic! Mel is an absolute perfectionist about the business, the staff and client satisfaction. I get my hair done by Morika. I'm super fussy with my blonde foils and my hair isn't easy as it's so dark and throws a lot of copper through. Morika has spent ages listening to what I wanted and miles the colour! Everyone is always happy and polite. So happy to have found Mayko!!

I am new to the area and had to find a new hairdresser. Mayko came with good reviews and I was not left dissapointed. Customer service is obviously a strong focus in the business. Shannon did an excellent job working with me to decide on a style and colour. I arrived early and was welcomed to start my appointment 30 mins ahead of schedule. I was given good advice on products but did not feel like it was a sales pitch and there was no pressure. I will definitely be back.

Just new to the area and decided to have a look on WOMO. All the reviews on Mayko Hair sounded so positive. Booked an appointment and was not disappointed. Was greeted warmly by Linda. Was lovely and relaxing to have some time out from the outside world. Jenna was just very confident and offered some great tips for looking after my new colour. Walked out very impressed with my colour and cut. Hubby liked it too!! Thanks girls will definitely be back.

I had to find a new hairdresser after many years with my previous hairdresser - a very scary prospect. After reading reviews of many places I finally plucked up courage to visit Mayko. Mel immediately put me at ease and understood my worries about trying somewhere new with my short hair. I left later thay day with a great cut and colour! Have been back twice since after finding the cut very easy to manage (very important for someone who doesn't like spending more than 5 minutes styling her hair). Mel always listens to how my hair cut has behaved since the previous cut. My colour has been lovely and is always discussed beforehand rather than just applying the same again. The other staff are all friendly and helpful - particularly the lovely, chatty Maddie. The only thing that could make my 6 weekly experience better would be a glass of wine and a completely reclining basin chair to put my feet up whilst having my head massaged! Thanks Mel and team!

Previous hairdresser and why I switched to Mayko:- I had to attend a wedding at the beginning of June and I had booked a 10.30am apt for cut and blow wave to my short hair. I arrived 10 minutes early and was kept waiting over my allotted time. When I was finally started on I had no fewer than about 8 interruptions. I ended up being there for 2hours + and I had to rush home, rush getting ready for the wedding. I am going away for 3 months 4WDriving in the dessert and needed a really short haircut. I had heard that there was a hairdresser in the little row of shops on Mountain View Road and yesterday I found my car heading for there! I went in and asked when they could fit me in for a really short haircut? Their reply was "now". As I had the dog in the car and I needed to take her home first I made an apt for 11.45am. When I arrived back Mareeka took care of me and I actually felt like a valued client. Her attention to detail was amazing and she checked in with me all the time and she "listened" and did exactly as I wanted. I was so happy with the result that I simply couldn't get the grin off my face! It lifted my spirits and I felt really chuffed that I had found a top notch hairdresser. On my return from my trip I will be returning to Mareeka at Mayko. I would highly recommend anyone to try this salon, it's outstanding! Cheers Tess.

I went to see Melissa after reading a review on here. As a curly girl, we can suffer at the hands of those welding scissors and I have had enough experience now that I am very wary of letting anyone cut it but I was getting to the point of dreads and knew I would need to give someone a shot. I can't fault the lovely girls at Mayko, they are genuinely lovely people and did their absolute best to calm my worries. Mel was happy to nip bits as we went and I walked out of there happy as a pig in mud. To top it off, today I got asked by another curly who cuts my hair, the ultimate seal!!

Mayko (Mt Eliza) saved my hair!!!! AMAZING!!!!! I went to a salon in Rosebud who assured me they could dye my hair turquoise. 4 hours later I was left with a disgusting mix of fluro turquoise, lime green, dark blue and black, and chunks of bleached hair that had been missed. They also managed to chemical burn the back of my neck. I was absolutely devastated. The damage they had done was so bad my hair needed a complete overhaul. My husband gets his hair cut at Mayko Hair and suggested their salon as he is always really happy with their service and results. So in my panicked state I rang Mayko Hair in Mt Eliza in tears and they were outstanding from the get go! They reassured me they could work with it and give me a new fresh hair style. I didn't have an appointment yet they requested that I come in straight away and even called me back shorty after to make sure I had the correct address. I arrived to a warm, supportive and friendly team of ladies who are both humble and passionate about their trade. They collaborated together wonderfully and walked me through my options in a realistic manner. Their knowledge and expertise concerning products, styling and colour corrections was so refreshingly comforting, not to mention incredibly impressive! These amazing ladies worked attentively on my hair for 5 hours and gave me my confidence back. I truly can't believe what was achieved with my hair and I am in love with it!!!! they took my original plan of bright coloured hair into consideration and now I am rocking the sexiest red bob cut ever!!!!!! The color is completely even (considering my hair was multi blues and greens!) and my hair has been saved. I really can't say thank you enough. Mayko hair has renewed my faith in the hairdressing industry and I'm happy to say I will a client there from now on.

I have been a client of Mayko for a number of years. Mel and her team at the McCrae branch are caring and professional. I always come out feeling great with my hair washed, cut and blown dry. My hair is fine but with their products my hair is healthy and shiny and easy to manage. I have lived in UK and Malaysia and had great hairdressers in both countries and know that Mayko are the best. My daughter and two grandchildren are clients as well.

Its a team effort with Mel at helm. Always give time to assess and make sure happy with choices. Now my whole family are her customers and even my kinda rock star hubby (who is sooo grumpy about getting hair done), loves Mel !!! The salon is relaxed and fun and that's what I like ! The owner of the salon sat with me and reviewed my hair type, what I am hoping to achieve, and how I can manage my hair and colour between salon visits. When I go to a hairdresser I never know what I want so when I go to Mel at Mayko I don't have to worry. She colours and styles my hair as she sees fit and it works every time. Each time I come out looking fabulous and everyone notices. She also advises me on the best products to use which I can purchase from her and it has really helped the condition of my hair. She always has something new to offer and spending up to 3 hours with her has become a real treat. Would definitely recommend Mayko hair for anyone.

Good Price and good service. Started the process of black to ash brown. I explained my budget and I Definetely got my money's worth. I had Jemma look after me and she did a fantastic job of stripping the black out completely.. Whilst now I have a red brown color she and all the ladies there are all about making sure you receive the best service regardless of the dollar value I believe they won't let you walk out the door unhappy or with shoddy work. Whilst I know I'll be going back in 2 weeks for a repeat experience, I am confident in the Mayko Team and won't hesitate to recommend them.

After becoming unsatisfied with a previous hairdresser, I decided it was time for a change. I searched salons online and Mayko was by far the best reviewed that I found. I emailed first asking for advice and my email was replied to that same day inviting me to come in for a consultation. On the day of my consultation, I was greeted in a friendly manner by Mel and even though I was early, Jemma cut short her break to come out and speak with me. Jemma was amazingly helpful in giving advice on how best to deal with my greying hair and was clear and upfront about the cost of different services. Fortunately for me, she had space available that day to fit me in and did an amazing job turning my brassy hair blonde. She also gave advice on how to care for my new blonde tresses. The salon itself is in a great location, is vibrant, impeccably clean and there is a really friendly and welcoming vibe. The staff also keep up to date with trends and products as they were doing professional development that afternoon. Lynda (one of the owners) also took the time to come and introduce herself and have a chat with me as a new client. I can't wait to go back for my next appointment knowing that I'll be in good hands. I cannot recommend Mayko highly enough.

I was on the look out for a new hairdresser as I wasn't 100% happy with the one I had been using. This led me to Womo to find a new one and from the reviews I couldn't go past Mayko. I was nervous when I set out this morning as an excellent hairdresser (particularly for curly hair) can be difficult to find. I wasn't disappointed at all! Lynda was a pleasure to chat with and while she wasn't cutting my hair, she took a real interest in how it turned out. Melissa, who did the cut and colour was fantastic! She listened to what I was after with my colour and gave me professional advice and tips. I didn't feel railroaded into doing anything I wasn't happy with and I LOVE the colour. When I walked in the front door my hubby and kids were very pleased too. My daughter couldn't stop telling me how pretty it looked. I will certainly be returning to Mayko and booking in with Melissa again.

I moved to the Peninsula 2 months ago and have been looking for hairdressers. Found these guys on womo with such great reviews I had to go try. I'm glad I did. The girls are friendly and they listen to your needs and help suggest things that they think will look great. An all round relaxing and enjoyable experience with the added satisfaction of the hair that you wanted :) I would definitely recommend.

I visited Mayko for the first time today and had the best colour and cut I've had in a very long time. Tori was fantastic and listened to what I wanted, I walked out very happy. I was also pleasantly surprised at the price, very reasonable for such a great service. I highly recommend a trip to Mayko.

It has been a few weeks since I had blond colour done on my longish hair by Melissa in a friendly salon atmosphere. I have recently returned to Australia from living overseas and needed a new hairstylist. My hair has settled beautifully now and I am very pleased with the look. I have had my hair coloured for many years and Melissa was careful to keep it to my desired natural look with fine foils. I just had the most extraordinary cut, colour and highlights and special treatment by Melissa @ Mayko. I can't recommend her enough. I walked in with chemically treated, broken, multi coloured hair that made me feel unattractive (cause it was!), self conscious and older than my years. I was worried that because of the damage inflicted on my hair that inches would need to be cut off, but my stylist knew exactly how to treat my hair to keep the length and bring out the fabulousness previously hidden in my languid locks. I walked out with amazing fully revived beautiful hair that felt and looked healthier, fuller and younger. I will be going back.

I had my blond baliage done by Mel and I love it. She is knowledgeable and extremely talented at blond ombre or baliage hair. She spent as much time on it as was necessary (and didn't rush off to cut other peoples hair) and I left feeling extremely satisfied with the whole experience at Mayko

I wanted a bright colour in my hair, and being new to the area I had no idea which salon to go to - choosing mayko was the best decision, Michelle listened to what exactly I wanted, told me the process my hair would have to go through and was super friendly and made the experience a lot of fun! I have been going to Mayko Hair for 8 months now and they do an excellent job. When I get my colour done its bright. My hair is now healthy. On special occasions I've had curls in my hair or had it it blow waved and walk out looking fabulous every time. Its reasonably priced and value for money. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I have been going to Mayko for 5 years. They introduced me to foils something I thought I would never do, now I wouldn't be without. It hasn't all been perfect sailing. Had the wrong colour once and was reticent to have another. I don't like to complain but on my next appointment took a deep breath and said what I felt about my colour. Mel just looked at me and said why didn't you come in sooner and fixed the colour and no charge that day. I've had lots of tips since then. They are a warm friendly staff. Love the massage chairs that heat on cold wintry days. Yes do give them a ring. Plenty of parking and easy to find. No hidden costs and reasonably priced. Even my hubby goes and he is fussy. Don't wait ring.

Today was my first visit to Mayko! I was lucky enough to be booked in with Michelle to transform my balayage colour to an all over foiled blonde. I travel alot, I have been to ALOT of different salons up and down Australia. I can honestly say this was the first time that I was completely happy with my service!!! I absolutely adore my colour it is beautiful and natural, my hair cut was perfect (and I must say im quite picky with my hair, I have never been 100% satisfied with any hair treatment I have received.... until now!), and Michelle was lovely to talk to!!!! (If not for the fact that I am moving to WA next week) I would never leave this salon!!!! I HIGHLY recommend this salon to anyone, and the prices are quite reasonable aswell!! Thanks Michelle!

I have had Mel colouring and cutting my hair for the past 9 years. I have had challenging times with my hair and she is simply the best hairdresser I have ever had. You always leave the salon looking great and pampered. She trains all her staff so well, your are always happy with your visit. I especially love the wonderful hair washes and treatments that you get at Mayko. It is such a friendly salon with very reasonable prices.

Yesterday a tall blond lad gave me a hug as I was leaving Mayko hair in McCrae. Nearly 9 years ago,I heard that he had just been born (he's my grandson)as I was sitting in the same salon. I have been a happy customer for at least nine years. As a busy mature working woman who still aspires to stylishness, Mayko has helped me keep my body,soul and hair together. The staff are all well trained, professional and friendly. I get favourable comments re my hair frequently.They know their stuff and I always walk out feeling better than when I arrived.

Have been client of Mayko McCrae for number of years - Love going to have my hair done there. The staff are always friendly and professional and I always feel comfortable and looked after. They do a great job with my hair and I continually receive compliments re the colours and cuts. I'm in my early 60's but they seem to have clients from all age groups. Highly recommend.

Today I have finally got a professional Hairdresser (Mel) that knows what the customer wants, listens and knows the products that will help my poor hair recover from the disaster I had done to it by another hairdresser in Mount Eliza. After being so unhappy for so many years with different hairdressers I took the plunge & looked up Mayko after reading their excellent reviews on here. So happy I did. I was really nervous about visiting for the first time. I have never been happy with my colour (wanting to wear a scarf over my head for the first week). No-one has ever got my blonde right....until NOW. My first & second visit have been amazing. They actually listen to what you want & are very knowledgeable in every aspect of colour. They made me cry....tears of happiness. My hair was awful after trying to dye it myself then went to a cheap hairdresser to fix but they did worse. My hair was 3 different colours. I have only been in the Mornington Peninsula 12 months. Tried 2 hairdressers - very unhappy with both (6 visits). Thought I would check out reviews, and Mayko was the best. Love the new style, colour and foils Tory did. She really listened to what I had to say and checked all the way. Other staff were also involved in the colour. A brilliant job and so pleased I have finally found my new hairdresser!! (And the price was much better than what I had been expecting - VERY reasonable - I would have paid much more and still been happy!

As I am a new resident on the Mornington Peninsula I went online to read up on different hairdressing salons in the area. Mayko Hair had so many wonderful and very positive reviews that I decided to try the salon for myself. I was welcomed by a lovely, friendly member of staff and looked after from that moment on. I was also offered a refreshment, and was made to feel very comfortable. The salon is very clean and customer friendly. A wonderful scalp massage was offered to me on having my hair washed. Really relaxing. One of the owners of the business came over and introduced herself to me which I felt was a special personal touch on her part. On completion of my hair which incidentally I was thrilled with, thanks to wonderful Michele, I paid way below what I have ever paid before for an excellent result. It included colour, cut, foils and a blow dry- All of which I was absolutely delighted with. Altogether a great experience. I have been back since and my husband is now a happy customer of Mayko as well! Look no further than Mayko. They cannot be beaten for an all round exceptional experience.

As a new customer i was nervous about changing hairdressers. I have had the same hairdresser for approx 30 years, unfortunately she has changed careers so i had no choice but find another. After a couple of recommendations from friends i rang Mayko in Mt Eliza a local business in my area. I explained my situation about being nervous. Lynda was fabulous, she reassured me i would be fine, the staff were friendly, happy in a busy salon on a saturday afternoon. I made my appointment 2 days prior with no problems in accomodating me and fitting me in. I must say my entire experience at Mayko was fabulous, lovely clean hair salon, customer service second to none, i can highly reccomend this salon, in saying this my next appointment is booked. My colour was perfectly matched, trim and blow wave was exceptional. Thankyou Lynda and your team at Mayko, see you in a few weeks.

When you get to my age (in the 60tys) most places you go hairdressers or shop it's like you are invisible. Well at Mayko they treat you so very well. I had a gift voucher to get my hair done with Mayko for the first time, the staff there made me feel very welcome and treated me as an individual. They offered me great advice, and didn't pressure me into anything! I have already booked in to get my hair done again with them! Definitely a 10/10 experience!!

They help cure mid week blues and any tendency towards dowdiness. MAYKO is a youthful saloon that keeps abreast of trends and innovation in hair care, and they are happy to help out the not quite so young too. I had my hair cut with the girls last night, very convenient to have the place open on a Thursday night as going to the hairdresser during the week is difficult due to work commitments. Lynda was very nice on the phone and made extra effort to squeeze me in even though the night was booked out. Much appreciated! Upon arrival I was offered a coffee, thee or water and was set down in the chair instantly Abby cut my hair again and she did a great job. She remembered me from previous times even though, as a man, I leave way too much time between haircuts... She enquired about my little dog and my upcoming marriage. I'd thought that was very thoughtful and a sign of caring. I would recommend a haircut with the girls to anyone, great service, great haircut, fantastic value! An all-round, 5-star experience

This was my best cut and color I have ever had...and being in my 50's I have had a few!!! I have very curly hair and normally salons have no idea how to cut and style my hair. I usually go home and wash it and do it myself. But not at Mayko, it was perfect. I had so so many people commenting on the color and cut, people who never say anything about my hair, so it must have been good. That stupid other woman must have no idea of what good salons charge or why didn't she ask up front. You get what you pay for but I thought their prices were great, I was paying more going to a hairdresser in her kitchen. The staff were amazing. It was quick because I hate being at a hairdressers for 3-4 hrs. They were attentive and very thorough. Thank you again for putting my trust and faith back into hairdressers. A job well done !!! loved it.

I am sure the previous reviewer has another agenda. Here's my honest one. Price- set price, no surprises... No hidden extras like my previous experiences at other salons. Great cut and colour and personalised consult each time to check on how my hair went between visits. Been using this salon for 11mths now and prefer the location to a busy shopping centre or shop strip.

Well, I learned my lesson. Ask what the price will be before you get your hair cut and styled! I could have gone to any other hairdresser but I was looking locally. Had I known the prices beforehand I would have gone somewhere else, what a rip off.
