I still remember the first time I walked down Ackland St.You could just window shop for hours (if your stomach let you!) They have an incredible selection of cakes displayed right in the front window. The cakes are delicious. Don't go alone because you'll want to try several. It's an awesome place to share . But be warned. The coffee you could stand your spoon up in!

It's great to know that you can still get a good bowl of pasta on Lygon Street for under $20. I went there a couple of nights ago with some work colleagues. The menu is massive. Any type of pasta and sauce...it's there. And beautifully prepared. I'm a sucker for fettucine marinara and was not disappointed. Heaps of seafood and no one had room for dessert

Approximate cost: $18 - 22

I grabbed a coffee from here this morning after strolling through David Jones. I needed a caffeine hit and told the guy and so I got one, that's for sure. It was lovely and smooth despite how strong it was.

Approximate cost: $4.50

I've just spent three nights at Batman's attending a conference and staying overnight. The rooms are quite small but very clean and they're wheelchair accessible. Not as up-to-date as a lot of other hotels in the area. Be warned that there is no internet access in the rooms but there is at the front desk. The restaurants were okay but we only had lunch there so can't comment on the dinner menu. It's not too bad

I wanted to show the kids that there was more to Japanese food than sushi. We went here for lunch and it was a real authentic Japanese experience. The tempura prawns were delicious and I got to try soft-shelled crab at long last. Yum. We ended up sharing 1/2 dozen entrees because they all sounded so delicious (and were!) The chicken yakatori went down well with the kids, too. I would love to go back for dinner but the price jumps up so it was nice to have a trial for lunch. It cost us about $70 all up.

I took the kids here for yum cha. The Dumplings were tender and moist and the rice noodles were delicious. We just had that with a couple of drinks. Wasn't too bad but I've had better.

They deliver1 Yay! We ordered last nights dinner from them for the first time. Took 1/2 hour from ordering online until delivery. We had the Chicken Chinese egg noodles, Satay Beef and dim sums. We ordered rice as well but it wasn't needed. The food was beautiful. Hot and fresh and we've got plenty left over for tonight! You get a free can of coke and spring rolls for ordering online. Pizza Tuesdays have just been replaced. It cost us $35 all up but we could have done without the dim sum and rice. Delivery was free. Definitely our new delivery dinner people!

Approximate cost: $13.90

If you just w3ant to go to the coast for the beach and theme parks then this is definitely the place to stay. No fancy high-rise apartments with views over the ocean! Just a basic motel room that's clean and tidy with lovely hosts. We stayed here and it was at the price-point where we could afford all the other fun stuff. It's within easy walking (and running if it's raining!) distance of local restaurants which you'll need because there's only a microwave and tea & coffee.

I don't know if they have new owners but the burgers I used to get from here were pretty good BUT the seafood has always been terrible. The sea scallops were like rubber and the fish was cheap imported rubbish that was dry and horrible

I grabbed a chicken and salsa quesadilla from here for lunch today as I had read the reviews on WOMO. It was lovely and hot, chock full of filling ands delicious melty cheese. Chicken was tender and not dried out like I find a lot of take away Mexican food to be. Will definitely return.
