I had Electricians On Call install a split system air conditioner in my home office. Mark, the principal of EoC, did the mounting and electrical work, and used a licensed a/c plumber to do the plumbing part.

On the first hot day after the installation, the system failed, with symptoms suggesting a gas leak. I contacted Mark, and he was totally helpful and positive in resolving the problem.

Mark got the plumber to come back again and investigate. The plumber was most upset, 30 years experience, never had a failure, blah, blah, blah. He measured and tested, and convinced me that there was nothing wrong on his side. After he had fiddled with the system for a while, it worked.

On the next hot day it failed again.

After much observation, testing and analysis (I am a qualified engineer, and have access to a/c industry experts), the most likely diagnosis was contamination in the system.

This time Mark himself came back with the plumber reluctantly in tow. The plumber complained about the long drive, drained the gas, vacuumed the system (our best guess is he failed to do so initially), complained some more about it costing him $200 in gas, re-gassed it, whinged again, and left.The system has not missed a beat every since.

So, when things went awry, due to no fault of his own, Mark of Electricians On Call did exactly the right thing. I judge any business not only an how well they do initially, but (maybe more so) by how they respond when something goes wrong. Mark came up with flying colours.

Yesterday I had Mark back to install a new oven and an outside light, and he will be first choice for any future electrical work for my home or business.
