This review is for Flora Gondwana, North Hobart TAS

As soon as you step into Flora Gondwana, you feel as though you have been transported from the busy North Hobart restaurant strip into an oasis of elegance and beauty. Exotic blooms of all descriptions are stunningly displayed by the knowledgeable and helpful Karina and Natasha. There is a huge variety of containers in which to place your flowers or plants ranging from wood-fired raku pots with Japanese glazes to the most delicate porcelain and glassware. You can even buy the different parts and make your own gift with bonsai style pots, pebbles and stones etc...Gondwana is also the only Tasmanian outlet for Perfect Potion, a luxury skin care range, which has to be sampled to believe the texture and smell. I can think of no better way of showing someone you care than selecting flowers and a lot more from this stunning store!

Clinton, the owner of this GROOVEEE, funky hair care and design shop deserves the highest praise and accolades for establishing this little oasis of paradise in West Hobart> Where once there was a nice hairdressing salon for decades, now exists a 21st century boutique that reminds me of the 70s cool places in Paris, London and Sydney. Clothing, jewelry, accessories that make you want to spend!! and then there Is the fab Clinton, wielding his scissors so elegantly. My daughter and her Uni friends love this place, Clinton and his unforgettable pooch who often walks by to wave hello to his master and adoring fans!!

This review is for Paesano Pizza And Pasta, West Hobart TAS

Friendly welcome accompanied by that appetizing smell of garlic greets you as you enter this very popular pizza and pasta restaurant in West Hobart. This part of inner city Hobart only has a few places to eat and drink in, so the people who live around here support their local businesses with gusto, especially when the food tastes as good as it does here.
Recent renovations have allowed more and more flexible seating spaces and Diane, the co- owner with her Italian husband, couldn't be a more gracious host. And so much parking when compared with North Hobart!

The best part of this place is the wide variety of Asian food on offer and that it's FAST and good value. Jugs of iced water and glasses are right next to the cash register and a large bowl of coriander so lovers of this fantastic herb can add even more to their take away. There are a few tables for those who want to eat in and yummy desserts available as well. more of a take away than eat in experience, but good value!

Beautifully decorated with mirrors, Indian textiles and ornaments, this restaurant is popular with a wide range of people who love food from the sub-continent. The mango lassi is to-die-for!! Vegetarians are also lucky: the Indian cheese curd (paneer/panir) curry is so good that I've been known to order it as a take away several night in a row!!

The setting is wonderful:the premises used to be A T Bratt Shoes when I first moved to this area and all the beautiful floor boards have been kept and polished and stained to the Nth degree. Several different businesses have operated since the demise of the shoe store and the venue has always been popular with locals for excellent coffee and cake during non-dining hours. The food is modern Oz cuisine, with a good range of locally sourced ingredients and beautifully presented; previous names of the restaurants at this address include: Mit Zitrone and Amulet.

Adam's Store is another of West Hobart's gems! Great take aways as well as well stocked shelves full of household necessities and gourmet items like ginger choccies (mmm!), Tasmanian wines, ham on the bone and frech spices beautifully displayed. Family owned and run and friendly caring service.

Great quality, but a little on the dear side for the average household budget. Their prize-winning sausages are sublime and their pet food is good enough for human consumption. Service is like that of days gone by...one of the best cocktail sausages I have ever tasted for toddlers as a surprise and bones for the dog, cut to size and often on the house. The friendliest butchers in Australia!

Approximate cost: $above average

A gem of a store! Real estate agents rate homes in the inner parts of Hobart on their proximity to this place. Just about any interesting item of food can be found on their shelves, as well as a wonderful selection of Tasmanian wines and the most outstanding fruit and vegetables you've ever seen! And usually cheaper and far better value than the 2 main supermarket chains.
Shoppers come from all over Hobart and even further afield to browse and buy. Need some milk, sliced bread. toilet paper: yes, it's a corner store with all the convenience that implies. but how many corner stores also offer 10 different varieties of virgin olive oil, unpasteurised Roquefort, verjuice, and gourmet breads from Hobart's 3 best bakers

Approximate cost: $similar to supermarket prices
