This place is just... wow. I am addicted to the food here. The serving sizes are huge, and the large pho? You could drown yourself in it. It's the size of a fruit bowl. The prices are seriously affordable, and you can happily go away full for about $10. I've been working my way through the menu, and the only meal that I can't recommend is the vermicelli noodle soup with salad and duck. That meal is great with the chicken, but if you order the duck, you'll be doing a lot of deboning.

The service itself is adequate - not the greatest, but not the worst either. We've had a couple of long waits now and then. But in general, they're a lovely establishment with an extensive menu of good-value meals. They also do take-away and deliver within a limited radius.

Approximate cost: $10 - $20

Not the cheapest Thai around, but definitely one of the most delicious. I heartily recommend the pad thai, which comes in a generous portioning and with all the extras other places sometimes leave out - like beansprouts and lemon wedges. Mon's is available for take-away or dine-in. I've found the dine-in service to be rather slow at times, but haven't had a problem waiting for take-away so long as I call ahead to place my order. All in all, it's not bad food at all.

I really don't mind this little cafe, but the fact of the matter is that for what you get, their menu is a bit pricey. My partner and I went here for breakfast a little while back, and they had a 'beef wellington' option on their menu. Someone ought to have given them a definition for beef wellington though, because what was received turned out to be a rather expensive pie with shredded meat as opposed to a fillet of beef. I was rather disappointed, as it seemed misleading to title it something it was not. Overall, the food was nice, and the service satisfactory, but with the price of the food combined with a misleading description of the food, I walked away disappointed.

Quality is what sets these guys apart. I've always gone there at a slower time of the day, so it is possible that I've always gotten them when they're quiet, but the food is prepared quickly and has always been piping hot and delicious when we've gotten it. The food is fairly well priced, and the servings (if gotten with a rice) are adequate for two people to share as a meal, so when you think about it in that way it's rather affordable. I've gotten a different meal each time I've gone back there (we always get take-away), and I really haven't been disappointed yet.

This review is for Mr Wongs Chinese Restaurant, Wilston QLD

This little Chinese restaurant has a lot going for it, just being on the Kedron Brook Road restaurant strip. It does have a fairly extensive menu, but I've only really tried a few items - the best of which I have to say was the BBQ pork. It was tasty and succulent, without being dry. Overall, not bad Chinese, but not the greatest either.

This review is for Pepe's Newmarket Mexican Restaurant, Newmarket QLD

This place can sometimes be a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to service, but the food is always pretty darn good. The prices are about on par with the standard for a sit-down Mexican restaurant meal, but the servings are well and truly generously portioned. Make sure you go there hungry, or you might find yourself asking for a doggie-bag! In addition to the food, they keep a fairly well-stocked bar (though the fancier tequila varieties are not always available), and you can pick up a jug of marguerita or strawberry dacqueri for around $30. Overall, not a bad place to go if you're in the mood for a filling Mexican meal.

This review is for Sushi Edo, Newmarket QLD

At $3.50 a plate for sushi, it isn't the cheapest sushi I've had... but it isn't the most expensive either. There's nothing particularly great about the sushi from this location - it is about on-par with most other 'sushi train' style places. However the restaurant itself is nice, bright and airy, and it is a good location to have a small social meal with friends. Overall, satisfactory - nothing really to write home about.

This review is for Pivotal Motion Physiotherapy, Newmarket QLD

I went here for a consultation and a follow-up appointment regarding a particular muscle issue. Perhaps I got the newly graduated physio, but they had no idea what was going on at my initial consultation, and had no solutions to offer or even ideas as to what was causing this particular muscular issue. I went back for the second appointment, since she said she'd look into things and see if she could find any additional information regarding my issue, but when I went back she started prodding at the wrong shoulder to start off with (having just consulted my chart) and admitted that she was still pretty much guessing and had encountered nothing like my situation before. The other physios in the building may be great, but I was less than pleased with my experience there.

I only went here once, and once was enough. It was my first visit, so I got a clean and had a consultation with the dentist. He berated me a bit for leaving it so long between cleans, did it seemingly without care despite the fact that I was obviously in pain (because I had some gum sensitivity and had left it a while between cleans) and seemed to have more interest in offering me cosmetic solutions to 'fix my smile' than anything else. I won't go there again.

This review is for Vinnie's Deli Cafe, Newmarket QLD

verified email - 06 Nov 2013

Vinnie's isn't a bad little spot to go to if you want a coffee and something to eat - definitely a step up from the Gloria Jeans just a couple of shops down from it. However, the prices are rather steep when it comes to actual food. With that said, their 'big breakfast' is exactly as it's described: biiiiiig. I could easily easily share it with someone else and still feel as if I've had enough for breakfast! While the food is nice enough, it doesn't really wow me enough to particularly state that this place is any better than any other, especially when price is taken into consideration.
