Love the Loving Hut. 100% vegetarian food bursting with flavour. All the staff are volunteers I think which makes for a friendly atmosphere. I had mock prawns which were really good. Great place to take vegan/veggie friends.
My favourite rice paper rolls in Melbourne. Service is usually very fast, staff range from lovely to a bit brisk but the food more than makes up for it. Since their makeover the prices have gone up but it's still always busy. Try the Vietnamese coleslaw.

Well Lime Flower doesn't look much but the food is brilliant. They will ramp up the chilli to nuclear if you ask and I mean it will be HOT so be warmed. Loved the Pad Thai, loved the salad. And they deliver.
I wish the Dancing Dog was my local. Lovely folks, great coffee and a funky vibe. It's a great place to spend a Sunday arvo in the beer garden. Worth a visit for sure.
This is a most unusual space, very airy and rather grown-up for North Melbourne. The teas are very special and I'd recommend them over the coffee. Food is good but not cheap and the menu is small. My only gripe is that service can be so slow you'd think time had stopped.
I tried this place after a friend raved about the chips - I've never tried it before because the shop windows are always really grubby and that put me off! Well the chips are really rather good and the lentil burger I had was great - I couldn't finish it as it was huge. But seriously guys clean your windows.
There are queues for tables most weekends and it's only a small place. The menu is also small and the portions are also...small. The prices however are not small at all. The service with 'tude was unfriendly - all in all - ok. But I won't be back.

Amiconi has been here for ever and you sort of forget to go there. Went last week and it was packed (book!) - the waiters are great - doing their job with a bit of dash! The food is just as good as I remember, lovely home style Italian food. It's very lively in the evenings so try to get into the swing of things and enjoy.
Old school sandwich bar occupying a prime corner block. So they are doing something right. You know how sometimes you just want a proper sandwich? Not a ciabatta, not a baguette, a proper sandwich. Well then this is the place to go. Made to order lots of seating and the coffee is better than you'd think.
I tried Kanoodles because of some good reviews - it's not much to look at but I was very surprised by how tasty the noodles were and how friendly the service was. Top notch value, very highly recommended.
