We had Paul Simpson House Restumping inspect, replace and repair the existing steel posts in our 1960s mid-set cottage in Mount Gravatt East. The existing concrete footings were not poured high enough to prevent moisture from settling or contacting around the base of the steel posts where they come in contact with the concrete footing. I had also found lots of rust forming and some posts had rusted through. Paul was very professional and friendly to deal with. Paul arrived on time shortly after we had sent them our request for a quote. He clearly explained the issues with the existing posts and footings and the process they would use to inspect and repair or replace as necessary. As it was uncertain how bad the posts were until some of the footing could be removed and the posts inspected - Paul was able to give quotes for best and worst case scenarios - which gave us peace of mind. They were able to commence the work a week or two later and the job was done in just under two days. The team was very efficient and friendly and left our place in a very tidy state. They replaced and repaired a few steel posts; and for all steel posts they jackhammered away some of the concrete footing to inspect them for the extent of the rust, and then treated any existing rust, coated them with a water repelling layer and protectant, and then topped up the footings with fresh concrete to raise the footing well above ground level. All posts are worry-free and maintenance-free for us now. We were thoroughly happy with the whole experience, the quality of the work, and the efficiency and friendliness of the team. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paul and his team and we'll certainly go to Paul again if we ever consider an extension or raise to our house in the future.
