About Me

Hello! Im Sharon Rodrigues, Director at Achieve Beyond Speech Pathology based in Essendon, Melbourne, Australia and I specialize in treating children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.

I graduated with a Masters degree in Speech Pathology at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, USA. Since then, I have been practicing as a Speech Pathologist for 15+ years. The academic knowledge I achieved through completing my B.S and M.S degrees, as well as my experiences at externship and work placement sites in the U.S, U.A.E, Singapore & Australia have allowed me to develop not only my critical thinking, team collaboration skills and enquiry, but also the principles of reflective thinking and practice – all of which aid me in continuing to develop my analytical and problem solving skills.  I have used this and other academic knowledge gained at work to be more resilient and responsive while looking into the care and needs of my clients. I believe in empowering individuals and in being involved in the community. I have experience working with early intervention, preschool & school age children with a range of speech, language, and social difficulties.

Speech Therapy Experience across North America, Middle East & Asia Pacific

I began my career in the U.S, working for a government funded Early Intervention Program for 4 years, servicing parents and their children from birth up to 3 years. I then moved to Dubai in 2013 and joined a preschool+Centre for children on the Autism Spectrum, supervising and providing support as well as, working 1:1, and in group for children with various speech and language needs. In 2014, I moved to Singapore, where I had the opportunity to work in a private therapy center with emphasis on team work. I have been practising in Australia since 2020 and I believe working collaboratively with both parents, team members (Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Teachers) and children is paramount to achieving a child’s maximum communicative potential.

Qualifications and Training

Empowering parents and celebrating their children’s successes together makes me excited to come to work every day! I'm passionate about working with early intervention, pre-school and school age children. I firmly believe in continuing education, and aspire to continue to educate myself by attending regular trainings, workshops and courses, as education methods and knowledge continue to evolve and grow, and it is important in certain career fields, especially within the speech community, to be aware of these latest changes and knowledge oneself.

I have completed additional training in the following:

1. Hanen More than words

2. PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)

3. Lidcombe Program

4. Lindamood-Bell Verbalization and Visualization

5. Sounds write - Literacy intervention

6. Courses in articulation, phonological, and language disorders

Im dedicated to providing meaningful and fun lessons and empowering children to communicate successfully in all areas of life. This is my daily inspiration and motivation. I feel truly blessed to have been able to develop my skills through my work experiences in different parts of the world, and hope to be able to share my experience with you and your children.
