Exercising in the pool is ideal during pregnancy and after your baby is born. The buoyancy of water supports your growing body and allows for a safe low-impact workout. Aquamums is a fun and comfortable way to keep fit during pregnancy and help your body prepare for childbirth. It’s also a great way of returning to exercise after your baby is born enabling your body to recover and strengthen. Aquamums classes consist of a 45 minute workout which will tone your muscles, mobilise and gently stretch your body and increase your cardiovascular fitness. Specific strengthening exercises for the deep abdominals and pelvic floor muscles are emphasised. Aqua equipment is used to increase the challenge as well as to promote floating and relaxation.

Exercising in a group to great music is fun and the perfect opportunity to meet other expectant mums

The class is done in your own comfortable depth and is completely safe and enjoyable for non-swimmers

You don’t put your head under the water so there is no need to wear goggles or a bathing cap

Aquamums is suitable for all fitness levels as you exercise at your own pace with a variety of exercise options being offered

The pools we use are heated to a comfortable temperature that is safe for pregnancy exercise

You can start any time after the first trimester… and continue right up to your due date

Aquamums also offers one-to-one aqua sessions in the pool with the physiotherapist. The physio will assess your exercise requirements and tailor the aqua program to your specific needs to enable you to get an effective cardio-fitness workout and core strength while protecting the pelvic floor and pelvic girdle.
