What a trip! We sighted blows out wide so off we went. As we were heading out a whale surprised us wth an awesome random breach! We then continued onto a pod of two who were surfacing regularly. We then started seeing blows and tail throws in all directions. Throughout the trip we sighted over 20 whales. We were lucky to have a close encounter with a young female who was playing with seaweed and was very inquisitive towards us. One pod up off Turringal Head had at least 8 whales which was impressive to see. So much fun out on the water today and fantastic to see so many whales passing the Sapphire Coast today. We have sure been blessed with the weather this past week - such gorgeous calm ocean conditions 💙💙💙 This morning we headed 4 miles off the Pinnacles to find a pair of sub adult humpback whales heading north. No acrobatics today but they surfaced at regular and predicable intervals which provided some good viewing. A few beautiful albatross also came over to check us out. A visit to the seals on the way back and again we were amazed and the number of Australian Salmon in the Merimbula Channel. Another spectacular day on the ocean off Merimbula today! We found a competition pod of five humpback whales who seemed to have forgotten that they were supposed to on their northern migration! We found them off Short Point and left them off the middle of the Merimbula Bay! The energy from these five whales was awesome to watch! They spent a lot of time on the surface barging into one another and chasing one another around in circles - simply great to observe. We then found the our local bottlenose dolphins near the Merimbula Wharf on the way back in and visited the seals near the Sandbar. Today was a fantastic day to be out on the ocean 💙💙 such gorgeous conditions and lots of life in the water. We sighted whales whilst we were out fishing in the early morning so headed north when we came back out. As we rounded Long Point we were greeted by our local Bottlenose Dolphins and also saw several seals throughout the morning. We found a pod of three humpback whales and another pod of two up off Tura. They joined up and we saw some great surface action from them. This competition pod was full of energy and wowed us with a random breach 🚀 So good to see our first breach for the season 👏👏 We left this pod jostling with one another up off Turingal Head - a great morning of whale watching! Today was a simply stunning day to be out on the ocean 💙💙 It was a great example of why this area is known as the Sapphire Coast as the waters were a gorgeous blue colour. We headed out wide off Haycock to find three humpback whales cruising north. They were very relaxed and surfaced regularly. With the calm conditions we could even hear their blows as they surfaced. One was noticeably larger than the others and had a very distinctive dorsal fin (this whale was sighted and photographed in Hervey Bay on 8th August 2010 - thanks Vicki for the match) We also enjoyed seeing the seals at the Merimbula Bar and thousands of Australian Salmon in the channel. Today was our first whale watching tour from Merimbula for the 2024 season. Thanks to a whale report from another boat we found a single juvenile humpback whale just off the middle of the Merimbula Bay. This whale spent plenty of time on the surface and was travelling northwards at quite a pace! On our way home we found our local Bottlenose Dolphins off Middle Beach and several seals at the Merimbula Bar. Thanks to all who joined us today for a successful and enjoyable morning on the water. Our Sydney Whale Watching season started well last Friday with a beautiful Minke whale mum and calf near the Heads. We also found a single humpback. The weather prevented us from going out on Saturday but on Sunday we found four humpbacks. It was wonderful to see whales again and catch up with our Sydney whale family and we are looking forward to another great Sydney northern migration season @gowhalewatching We are also super excited for our first south coast whale watch adventure for 2024. The weather is getting colder - which always reminds us that the whales are on their way 🐋🐋🐋 We have had a few reports of whale sightings off Green Cape and Bermagui over the past week. So not long now until we see our humpback friends travelling northwards past our shores. Last year we had a fantastic northern migration from Merimbula and are looking forward to another winter with the whales. Our northern migration whale watching tours will commence later this month on selected days from Merimbula and Eden and Bermagui on Mondays from June. Then for the southern migration (August to November) we will have whale watching departing from all three locations. Sunday was a fantastic day. We spent the day with a great group of people passionate about birdwatching. We set off early from Eden to a beautiful sunrise over the ocean. Travelling south to waters off Lakes Entrance we saw so many incredible pelagic seabirds. A spectacular sunset on the way home was the perfect end to a great day. Thanks to all who came along for making it a most enjoyable day!

Yesterday we had a wonderful Wildlife Adventure. We found the local Bottlenose dolphins off the middle of Merimbula beach, seals off the Haystack Rock and then spotted a black shape followed by a splash off the middle of Merimbula Bay. We headed over and found a beautiful pod of False Killer Whales 💙💙 They were quite spread out but we counted at least 40 of them heading south. We do not often sight these nomadic, often shy animals and are still buzzing from the encounter. There were several young calves in the pod which was so good to see. With the weather starting to cool off the anticipation of this years whale watching season is starting to grow ….. There are sure to be a few early humpback sightings over the next few weeks, if you see any we would love to hear about it. We should then see good numbers migrating north by late May. A great day fishing yesterday. Fantastic to catch a few good sized snapper. Saturday was a gorgeous day on the ocean! Thanks to our wonderful spotter Pat we headed straight out to find whales off Middle Beach 💙🐋 This mother and calf surfaced regularly across Merimbula Bay, they then surprised us by both breaching several times 😀 Given that we are late in the season we were stoked to find whales, but on such a sunny and calm day to then see them breach - well we were very grateful. Ocean forecast for Sunday has very strong NE winds so we are off the water but we will be back out on Monday for our last whale watching trip for this season. We have had a few reports of whales to the north of us over the past few days but they are definitely slowing in numbers. With strong winds and rain forecast for Thursday we combined trips and headed out from Eden. We sighted three pods of humpback whales and hundreds of dolphins throughout the morning. We were lucky to see several breaches and tail throws. However the highlight of the cruise was when a young juvenile humpback came over to the boat and mugged us on three occasions! This very inquisitive whale kept eyeballing us and was very interested in Roger. Love the eye photo that our onboard photographer, Aubrey captured! We have been very lucky this season to have experienced so many phenomenal muggings and it is always a privilege when whales choose to come over the boat and watch us! Awesome whales today 😀 With strong winds forecast today we combined boats and headed out from Eden. Thanks to Ros & Gordon for spotting whales we found three pods of humpback whales just outside Twofold Bay. We were lucky to see some great breaching, tail throws and a wonderful mugging by a most inquisitive juvenile 💙💙💙 On top of this we were surrounded by dolphins for most of the morning 🐬🐬🐬 (Roger was very happy) Twofold Bay has so much life in it and we are so thankful to be able to experience this.

Gorgeous calm conditions this morning for our whale watching cruise. We headed south down past Leonards Island to watch a humpback mother and calf cruising quietly along the coastline towards Eden. Yesterday we found a resting humpback mother and calf inside Haycock. We then saw a splash out off Haycock, then another splash and another... We had a wonderful morning watching a lovely active calf breaching and head lunging all the way down to the Pinnacles. We were also very lucky to see a big breach from mum! On our way back our resting pair had come out from Haycock and were headed SE and we saw several breaches from mum and calf as we passed by. Yesterday (Sunday) we had a fantastic whale watching trip off Bermagui. It was the last Bermagui trip for the 2023 season (Merimbula & Eden still few days to go) and it was sensational to spend the morning with an active mother and calf. Some beautiful breaches, tail throws and tail slapping😀 The quality of whale watching from Bermagui gets better every year and we are exceptionally thankful for the support from the local community🙏We are already looking forward to the 2024 Whale Watching Season from Bermagui and seeing what new and exciting experiences it has in store for us. This morning we travelled over towards Haycock and found a mother and calf who were headed east. We had several close encounters with this pair before heading in towards Long Point to find a humpback mother, calf and escort. A morning without wind 😊 Thursday was sunny, calm and most enjoyable. We found a very quiet mother and calf off Middle Beach before seeing another mother and calf playing in the middle of the Bay. This pair were most inquisitive and playful and we had a wonderful time observing them. (This lovely mum and calf were sighted earlier this year on the 3rd October in Hervey Bay and also back in 2005, Happy Whale) The ocean was beautifully blue and we also saw two other pod of whales out wider and another mother and calf down to the south. This morning we travelled all the way south to Twofold Bay before we found whales. We were very lucky to watch both mum and calf breach soon after we arrived. This pair then proceeded to surface regularly. As we turned for home we also spotted another pair of whales who were pec and tail slapping. We passed two pods of whales and lots of dolphins as we head back up the Merimbula. Then this afternoon we again travelled south finding a mother and calf just inside Haycock point. We watched in awe as the mother head lunged several times. This pair of whales then swam past Haycock and then angled into the beach. They then pulled up for a rest. This morning we followed a mother and calf across the Merimbula Bay before heading out to a single sub adult who breached twice upon approach, then proceeded to tail slap. This single whale was very inquisitive and circled the boat several times. Then this afternoon we found two beautiful mothers and calves who were playing together. This morning between Long Point and Tura we counted at least 12 separate pods of whales, spending most of our time with three of these. A gorgeous day on the water today! On both our Merimbula tours we found multiple pods whales with 6 pods this morning and another 6 this afternoon. This morning an active and inquisitive whale put on a fantastic show and then this afternoon were were lucky to see lots of pec fin and tail slapping down past Haycock. Again lots of whales coming past Bermagui. After watching several pairs of whales we then found a large pod of at least 25 adults. This morning after finding two pairs of whales in the Merimbula Bay we headed south to find a pod of six adults just past Haycock. We also sighted a few other pairs of whales. Then on our way back we found a beautiful tail slapping whale in the Bay. This afternoon we headed north and found a lively pair of whales off Tura Head. It was a beautiful, calm morning off both Bermagui and Merimbula today. Lots of whales were sighted on both morning trips. However it was the afternoon where the action was! Off Merimbula after sighting several mothers and calves we finally found a gorgeous, playful calf and her mum. We had an awesome afternoon watching her breach, head slap, spy hop, pec fin slap and peduncle throw. Again another massive morning with the whales off Bermagui - just so many mothers and calves coming south at the moment! A fantastic breach by one of the mums and some playful breaches from the calves! This morning we sighted over six mother and calf pairs off Merimbula. However it was a beautiful mother and calf off the middle of the Bay that stole our hearts with a very impressive tail slapping session. Today it was all about the mums and bubs of Bermagui. These playful calves put on an amazing breaching display and were so much fun to watch! This morning we were following a pod of three humpback whales quietly along when they surprised us with an impressive breach 😮They then launched into a very energetic tail slapping session - so good to watch. This afternoon we headed over towards Haycock to where we could see whales breaching - lots of breaches upon approach. When we arrived, all went quiet and they swam over to check us out. We left these whales to head to another who was breaching and head slapping before moving onto a lovely mother calf and escort. When then travelled back to the pod of three who put on one of the best tail slapping displays of the season so far. We could also see numerous other whales in the area. Then we were mugged by a pod of two that became four juveniles. These whales were super curious and surprised us with three breaches, two of them right next to the boat! This morning off Bermagui we saw too many whales to count - the crew counted at least 30 plus whales in close proximity 😀 Then this afternoon we had another great mugging with four whales that lasted for over an hour - Bermagui is such an amazing location at this time of the year with so many adult whales congregating😀😀 The morning off Merimbula was rather quiet, we found two pods of whales off Bournda Island. The afternoon was wonderful - again found two pods of whales. However one of these pods was super inquisitive and we spent the majority of the tour being amazed by their antics, amazing spy hops, close encounters and three big close breaches 🐋🐋🐋 The weather looks fantastic this week so with so many whales coming past a great time to get out and see them. Today we were very lucky to see a Southern Right Whale mother and new season calf off Bermagui 😍 We only watched these two whales for a short time as we did not want to stress the new mother. We then found several other pods of whales, some fantastic tail throws and tail slapping and then another awesome mugging 😀 Two trips in Merimbula today with numerous pods sighted on both. Throughout the day we saw a lot of tail slapping and tail throws, pectoral fin slapping, head lunges and a few breach's. This morning the NW winds picked up and the whales seemed to love it! Off Merimbula we found a pod of three humpbacks off Middle Beach before heading to another pod of five whales. Lots of close encounters, tails and beautiful pec fins. Up off Bermagui we saw multiple pods of whales but the highlight was a pod of three who circled Bubbles for over 45 minutes. This morning we found whales a few miles off Tura Beach. When we arrived we soon realised that there were five whales😀 These whales were quite inquisitive and it didn't take long before they came over to check us out. We were lucky to see spy hops and had lots of close encounters with these whales. One was very distinguishable with a split dorsal fin. This morning we found a beautiful female adult humpback off the middle of Merimbula Bay. She was very friendly, almost flirtatious 😉 rolling over and waving her pec fin, swimming around us and under us. A very enjoyable morning on a calm sea. This afternoon the NE winds picked up and we headed out to where we had seen a few big splashes. When we arrive we soon realised that there were a lot of whales in the area. At one time we counted 8 on our left and four on our right - all in close proximity, with others further offshore. At least five of these had very white flanks which was interesting to see them all together. This morning started slow with whales on long down times but finished with us being mugged by six adult humpbacks down south of Merimbula. We were back out this afternoon and headed out wide off Long Point to find a pod of four who again mugged the boat. This morning so sooner had we departed fro Bermgaui than we found a large competition pod of at least ten whales. A very special mugging and some wonderful close encounters. This morning our son played in his AFL grand final so only the one afternoon whale watch today. It was a beautiful afternoon in Bermagui and we sighted a lot of whales throughout the cruise. Their behaviour seemed strange with some heading north, others east and a few south. Another Awesome Day with the Whales😀 This morning off Bermagui we sighted four groups of whales. We were lucky to see some fantastic big adult breaches and tail slapping. A wonderful morning with active whales and several close encounters. This morning off Merimbula was sighted six whales all of whom were headed SE quite fast. Then this afternoon we had an incredible mugging for 40 minutes with four adults a few miles of Long Point - double spy hops and whales super close to the boat. We then came into a pec slapping whale which became another mugging with four whales, two of these whales headed off and breached as they departed and the other two would not leave us alone. We finally extracted ourselves and found two whales playing with dolphins inside Long Point. What a Day! Awesome trips in both Merimbula and Bermagui. This morning we found 3 whales off Long Point and travelled across the Merimbula Bay, a few tails throws, pec slaps and a breach. Once past Haycock a pod of dolphins joined them and it was fun to watch the interactions 🐋🐬🐋🐬 Then this afternoon all aboard Sensational experienced a memorable mugging with two then four whales. Glorious ocean conditions today! Lots of whales off Bermagui this morning. The highlight of the morning was an active pair of humpbacks who breached and tail slapped and showed us some fantastic action. From Merimbula we sighted three separate single humpback juveniles. The first whale appeared to be surface feeding in the Bay and we were lucky to see the baleen inside the mouth. We then found a pair of sub adults who were more inquisitive and we had a few close encounters with this pair. Near perfect conditions this morning as we headed out from Merimbula. We found our first whales in close just off Long Point. This pair of humpbacks appeared sleepy at first with long downtimes then all of a sudden breached twice 🚀🚀 Awesome full body breaches 🤩🤩 They then swam over and checked us out before resuming their long downtimes. We headed out wider and found a pod of three whales, another pair joined and others could be seen in the area. We were then mugged by two of these whales who kept swimming under and around the boat, eyeballing us and nosing up to the boat. (close enough that we could see their hair follicles - check photo 2!) A fantastic experience for all onboard. On our way back in we also came across another two pairs of whales. Smiles all around 😀😀😀 We are just loving these inquisitive sub adults at the moment! This morning we headed offshore to find a pair of humpbacks off Haycock. We headed south with them before heading off to find another pair of humpbacks. The second pair spent more time on the surface and were swimming quite fast. Humpback whales are well known as the acrobats of the sea and today we were lucky to see some fantastic action - breaching, tail and pec slapping, tail throws, spy hopping, close encounters - such an awesome day on the water off Merimbula. We spent the morning with a pair of very playful sub adults who kept our attention with their interactions. On the way back in we also came across another two whales who were much quieter, resting in the glassy calm conditions.
