Today we visited to evaluate the unit for the front desk again. This machine will cool the office fine in the morning, but is not able to maintain the desired temperature during the heat of the day. We’ve looked at this unit four times in the last few weeks and have tried to get it to limp along. The issue is with the compressor. The compressor has failing valves that don’t seal properly when the pressures increase from the heat of the day. When the refrigerant pressures increase the reed valves are allowing refrigerant to bypass. James put together the repair and replacement information. Some things to keep in mind for this specific unit. It is over ten years old and uses R-22 refrigerant which was phased out in 2020. Also, the inside coils are in terrible shape.

Today we visited to determine why the AC unit would not cool the home lower than 80°. We learned the system has a refrigerant leak in the inside coil. The leak is large enough to hear! James put together the relevant repair and replacement information. Jennifer decided to have the system replaced instead of spending thousands to fix it.

Today we visited because the air conditioning system was acting strange. The unit outside was making an odd noise and would stop cooling. Then after turning the system off for a while it would work again. We discovered the defrost control board to be shorted because of a lizard. The short was causing the contact relay to chatter and rapidly cycle the unit off and on. We will be returning to replace the failed board, but in the meantime James was able to bypass the damaged portion and get the unit working reliably.

Today we returned to adjust the airflow settings to how they were originally, and for James to determine the most economical way to correct the airflow to the hot bedroom.

Today we visited to determine why the upstairs system is not cooling properly. We learned the upstairs unit (which had refrigerant added in MARCH 2024) has a refrigerant leak in the evaporator coils. We will be returning to replace the evaporator coils and charge the unit.

This appointment was a phone call to discuss installing a mini split system in the garage. Another company told Jason it was not feasible to install the air conditioner in his shop because of new permitting guidelines. I’ll let him know that it is absolutely possible and that we handle this on a regular basis. He is aware this installation will cost somewhere between $7000 and $9000. Jason said he will get in touch with us after he does more research.
