The distinguishing factor that sets an LO Licence apart from an LF Licence is the kind of vehicle it permits you to operate.
Possessing an LF licence permits you to operate any type of forklift truck, excluding a load-shifting order picking truck (or LO classified vehicle). An LO licence will only allow you to operate a load-shifting order picker and a VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) truck, more commonly known as "turret truck".
A standard forklift truck is complete with a pair of fork tynes that can be elevated up to 9m in the air, facilitating the effortless and secure transfer of bulky or numerous boxes in any warehouse. The forklift is operated from the driver’s seat and steering wheel and doesn’t require the driver to be elevated at any point or attached to a harness.
The operation of an LO picking truck, on the other hand, requires the driver to wear a harness because the operator’s platform rises and lowers to enable the driver to pick stock at varying levels up to 10m.
If you are interested in advancing your career with a warehouse, transport or logistics role, either of these licenses would be the perfect place to begin. With one or even both of these certifications under your belt, it's easy to open up new job possibilities and launch yourself into success!
