THE SERVICE
Design projects can be overwhelming for the client, changes in direction, confusion about brand identity & sometimes having to appease not just one, but group of invested parties, it’s common for the designer/client relationship to become strained. We get it. Here at Hairbrain we pride ourselves on keeping calm through these turbulent times & rolling with the punches in an effort to make the process of creating designs you (and everybody else) love, as smooth as absolutely possible. We call it the art of Zen and we practice it everyday.
THE PROCESS
If you’re someone who’s never worked with a graphic designer before or even if you have, but feel like you’ve been burned in the past for having paid for designs that were nothing like your original vision, let me shed some light on how easy the process of good design can be.
When a client walks away from a job with a design they don’t like, sometimes it can be put down to a lack of talent on behalf of the designer, but more often than not, the root of the problem really stems from poor communication. That’s why we always start the first job with a new client by sending them the design brief and the branding brief to fill out.
If filled out correctly these two documents can save a whole lot of time, money and heartbreak by allowing you to show us exactly what you want in your designs, even if you can’t see it yet yourself. Questions about target audience and how people should feel about your brand can give us a clear direction about where to start. This is a great help considering when someone says ‘Can you design me a Logo?’ you can literally go in a million (x infinity) different directions.
This first stage is usually the major hurdle and in most cases it’s smooth sailing from there on but regular contact still remains key. If at anytime through the design process you find yourself questioning your choices (or our designs) the earlier we get notification the better so as to spend the maximum amount of time and effort giving you what you want.
Quotes are available upon request and all logo design work includes a minimum of three individual base drafts. With guidance from your answers in the brief(s) we should be heading in the right direction with these drafts and one lucky winner will then be chosen for further development. We then hone it, chop it & squash it every which way your heart may desire until we reach perfection and you are ready to launch it out into the world. That’s how it usually works anyway.
Feel free to email us here for a quote or any other information you might need.
ABOUT US
Here at Hairbrain we love incorrect use of the terms ‘We’ & ‘Us’. The truth of the matter is it’s really just ‘I’, but as the Creative Director I like to sound busy & important so I’ll continue doing so. Although Hairbrain is a one man army of sorts I must admit that we also have various partners that help us from time to time when demands calls for it.
Hairbrain is based in Brisbane, often hold meetings in a Fortitude Valley bar called Sabotage Social (unless you’d rather meet elsewhere) & work just about anywhere thanks to the wonders of modern technology. With these wonders we currently service local, national & international clients. More about the team below…

It's our first love from the world of design & we have a special affinity for the illustrated ones as they're a symbol of cool, hand crafted quality that can't be beaten. Top 10 Poster Designers to Follow on Instragram
1. Ken Taylor
An all time favourite of mine and an inspiration in the fact that he’s a fellow Australian who’s done posters for countless bands and films. The level of detail is off the hook and I’m particularly fond of the clearly separated vector colour style.

In 2016 with everything done for us at the touch of a button it’s not much of a surprise that hand crafted graphic design has managed to come back in such a big way.
How & Why Illustration is Good for Your Business.
Illustration is often thought of as a niche art form reserved for kid’s books and heavy metal posters while the commercial applications are so often overlooked or underutilized.
