Hailing from Doncaster in Yorkshire, Gary began his cooking career at Claridge's London before moving to France to explore his love of food. After six years on the stoves in France and Switzerland, he returned to London to open the Groucho Club in Dean Street. Michelin-starred Walton's in Knightsbridge would be next for Gary, working as the Executive Chef until deciding to take his career to Australia.
Not long after, Gary would win the Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant of the year for San Lorenzo in Perth. The career milestones would continue, opening his restaurants in Perth, Melbourne, and 20 years later, the Gold Coast. This Michelin-starred Chef has also cooked for celebrities and royalty, such as King George Tupou V of Tonga at his coronation.
Today, backed by a passionate team and with his long-time partner in love, life, and restaurants, Belinda, they provide a unique dining experience at Jonez on Ephraim. Inspired by the finest ingredients sourced locally throughout Queensland and Australia, Gary creates a menu entwining classical French techniques with Asian influences and a home-grown soul. Menu is such that you can choose a starter, main and/or dessert and the pricing is fixed for a two or three course meal, which is good for groups and splitting the bill, makes it easy. The food was superb and choice was great. BYO makes this a good option as well, will definitely eat here again.
Absolutely spectacular restaurant!! Honestly haven’t had a better restaurant experience in the past 5 years being it was well priced, had great atmosphere and service and most importantly the food was sensational. Highly highly recommend to anyone in the general area it is worth a visit! We even came up from the Gold Coast just to visit and couldn’t be more impressed!! Thank you very much for such a fabulous experience !
Busy vibe but attentive and friendly service. Best spanner crab linguini I have ever eaten. Bug tail entree and trio desert excellent. Great dining experience
