Finding Strength For An Unknown Future

In today’s times of uncertainty, it is easy to feel a little disorientated in life and in how to relate to the goals that you had set months back. Being able to keep a hold on your dreams is key in being able to keep it together at the toughest of times.

Picture the captain of a small sea vessel being caught up in the most torrent of storms. The only way to get through it, is to get ‘through’ the storm. To achieve this, he or she cannot just give way to the storm and let the ship fly around without making any attempt to guide the vessel through towards its destination.

Sails would need to be raised or lowered, all crew members would be called upon to take charge of their duties, and the captain would stand fast at the helm with every intention present in mind to meet the challenge of the mighty storm.

It is not so different in life except that we are the captains of our own lives. We are the ones that will be taking the storm on to defeat it and come out victorious. Our friends, family, and support team would be the crew that is there to take care of other things that we cannot do by ourselves, as we are only one person. The sails, the mast, the rigging are the tools that we must call upon and use with discretion so that they are not overused or used at the wrong time.

These could be things such your friend’s support, being constant in your work, or making sure that you exercise to keep you body and mind in tune. During difficult times, it can be good to have time alone, but too much can provide opportunity for you to develop problems into bigger things. Discussing your thoughts with someone you feel comfortable with helps you to keep those kind of thoughts in check. Everything is given its time to do the right job and should be used as such.

The captain on the ship would not just be shouting out, “Crew member Duffy! Keep putting the sails up and down until the storm ceases!”

Just in the same way, when the strength of our difficulties overwhelms us we must use our tools as we know we should. We still have to keep it together and make solid decisions. Our strength in fighting through the storm is in our consistency and in our continued ability to make choices for specific reasons.

The right tools,

The right time,

The right duration of time.

It is the discipline within ourselves that is key when it comes to balancing our unchartered events, so that we can do our best to keep our lives on an even keel.

The Power Of The ‘Thank You’

Don’t forget your P’s and Q’s

Sometimes you happen to come across a person whose interest in their professional field is really genuine in their concern about helping you. Why not stop and thank them?

Just because it is their job to help you, as a professional, it is easy for us to take for granted the extra care and service that they may have supplied that has transformed our lives. We don’t necessarily stop to appreciate the serious impact their help has provided in our lives and how much we have gained from their professional help.

Professionals Are People Too

Even as professionals, these people are ‘people’ they live, think and breathe just as we do. As such, thanking them does not go amiss because that simple gesture can make them feel appreciated for the effort they have put in.

It gives the service provider a boost in their own morale which helps them to grow in their own professional field and to give back even more in the shape of helping their ‘next’ client with their problems with more belief in themselves and with more energy.

As such, this improves their business in presentation, productivity and you, have had an impact in making that happen.

Art Therapy for Juveniles

The Pleasure Of Art

Is it any surprise that little children love to paint. They have a thought in their head that they want to share, or at least allow to manifest into something so that it can become real. As adults we do not get that same opportunity to explore our thoughts in everyday life, that is why having a creative outlet can be so important.

In the case of young people who are at a loss for someone to talk to art can be the key to finding that inner focus. Art therapy for troubled juveniles has been used successfully as an aid to refocus troubled youth through programs that are designed to help them find a place in the world where they can enjoy the pleasure of creation rather than destruction. These programs have many ways that youths can benefit, even the simple fact of having something to do is good for their rehabilitation.

Active Minds Help In Keeping Troubled Youth Occupied

Many juveniles end up getting into trouble because they have nothing to do or a safe place to go. Their parents are at work and have no idea if their child is at home or not. This is all the fuel a young person needs to create a recipe for disaster in their lives.

Through becoming involved in art therapy programs, young juveniles have found themselves wanting to be involved without the need of pressure to ensure their attendance. Their accomplishments have taken them from being reckless teenagers to turning up to their programs on a regular basis which is great for their development in self responsibility.

Self Pride Is More Enjoyable When Someone Else Notices

In just knowing that they are noticed, they do not want to be absent. They have also been able to achieve a strong sense of accomplishment and have taken pride in showing their artistic creations to their parents. Their parents too, have been encouraged by the program in seeing what their child is really capable of.

Even if it is not an incredible work of art, there is still so much to gain. The youth now understands that if he or she was to put their mind to it they can achieve things, they can complete things and they create a sense of worth within themselves that transcends the classroom of their art therapy classes.

These young juveniles have gone on to realise that they are just as capable as anybody else in being able to set goals and achieve them, and that is the most important thing for them to acknowledge from every piece of work that they create.

Using Exercise To Combat Anxiety

Why everyone should exercise to combat anxiety

It doesn’t take much these days, to start feeling stressed and tense. There are always medications available to help with the tension that you experience but sometimes simply walking or riding a bike is enough to help you feel calmer and more relaxed.

Work, Work, Work – and no exercise

Anxiety and depression is fast becoming as rampant as the common cold. But with work hours being what they are, people get stuck on their chairs, barley moving from the start of the day to the end.

To add to it, exhaustion is a good reason to not feel like doing much at all when the working day ends. The result is clearly too much inactivity.

When you do not exercise regularly you can start to feel overwhelmed and this can in turn, and indeed very often does, turn into depression. It is true that you can exercise to combat anxiety. Just as it is true that lack of exercise can create it.

Anxiety can begin at a low level where you have the ability to acknowledge the imbalance in your emotions. A busy work and home life can compound your feelings. In a sense it can mash all your feelings together and when you hit a problem you may not necessarily react in a rational way.

It is important to be aware of your tiredness and to realise that you maybe feeling aggressive, so that you can read the signs of needing some stress release. Better still, having ‘regular’ exercise can help keep you in a more balanced state in general.

The Gym Is Not Your Only Option

Although the gym is the first thing that comes to mind, it is not appealing to everyone particularly if you are not very fit to begin with. Doing something that you enjoy is as important as the exercise itself. It can give you something to look forward to and you will come out feeling happy that you have done something positive with your day.

Exercise can be playing a sport or simply walking or riding a bike. Riding a bike to work is definitely healthier than going to work in the car but it does not has the same effect that it would if you were just doing it for the sake of relaxation.

Don’t take it for granted that you will get the same result either way. Relaxing is just that. Your mind has to be in the right frame for you to relax and enjoy it.

Being outdoors has its own benefits that allow you to enjoy fresh air and greenery, creating a pleasure to make your exercise even more effective. With walking it is a little different. Even in the need of getting from A to B, walking literally slows the world down (if you allow it to by not turning it into a jog).

So take YOUR time out. Get some fresh air, hop onto your bike or take a walk and experience the wonders that it can do in releasing that stress and anxiety from your busy world and watch it just blow away in the wind.
