Professional Funeral Celebrant | Funeral Celebrant Trainer | End Of Life & Grief Coach

"Warmth, Sincerity & Experience"

One of Melbourne’s most sought after and respected Funeral Celebrants working independently and in partnership with all Melbourne funeral homes, Cemeteries, Memorial Parks and private venues.

Honour your loved one and their life your way!

About Me:

After 20+ years working in Human Resources, Work Place Training and Counselling, my life was changed for ever in 2016 after being asked to officiate at a funeral for the first time (having been a Civil Marriage Celebrant since 2010).

That first funeral was a life changing experience, leading me to cease working in my corporate career 3 months later and going on to start my own business as a Professional Full-time Funeral Celebrant.Over 1500 funerals and memorials later and I still wake every morning inspired to deliver the best possible service to my client families as they farewell a loved one ‘Their Way’.

Funerals these days can be as informal or as elaborate as a family wants… from a simple 30 minute service in a funeral home or cemetery chapel to a beach or private venue memorial for hundreds that can incorporate the scattering of ashes, live music, visual tributes and multiple speakers… and everything in between. I also deliver graveside services and natural burial services and more recently have added ‘home based funerals or vigils’ to my service offerings, where the deceased is kept at home for a period of time after passing, and the family hold a service or vigil at the home. As a Diploma qualified Grief and Bereavement Counsellor I also offer counselling services to individuals who require assistance post funeral.

Why have a funeral or memorial service?

Bereavement is the experience we all face after the loss of someone special in our lives.

One significant part of an individuals grieving process can be attached to how they farewell the deceased. This is where a Funeral Service can be a very important part of beginning the journey to healing.

These days a lot of people are choosing ‘non-service delivery’ options when a loved one passes away. This means the deceased is taken to be cremated without a funeral or memorial service being held.

Whilst this can be cost effective financially at the time, for some of those left behind – the lack of closure can have adverse and far reaching effects. The ability to to memorialise someone’s life at the time of their passing, can play a big part in the grieving process of those nearest and dearest to them. Allowing people to celebrate the deceased person’s place in their family and community, reminiscing about past times spent together – and allowing people to voice their feelings and recount special moments in the life of their departed loved one can all be extremely healing.

How to choose the right Funeral Celebrant

Choosing the right Funeral Celebrant is equally as important as choosing the right Funeral Home/Director. Do note that YOU have the right to CHOOSE YOUR OWN FUNERAL CELEBRANT, regardless of which funeral home you are working with.

As a full time Professional Funeral Celebrant, I wake up every single day feeling truly blessed and honoured to do the work I do. Of course some days are harder than others, but I could not imagine doing anything else… this work is my calling.

Being able to provide families with the insights and experience of having officiated over 1500 services in the past decade means so much, but it often also comes down to finding ‘just the right fit’.

Each and every family has their own unique requirements when planning to farewell a loved one; and the best way to ascertain if a Celebrant is the right choice is to engage in a telephone conversation.

Potential clients should also have access to authentic client testimonials that give genuine insight into the Celebrant’s work.

Rachael Angus Funeral Celebrant has come across as a caring, compassionate and a well equipped funeral celebrant with full of wisdom words at her fingertips. Through our no fault at all our Pastor was not able to attend to our service and that is when Rachael was called in to our blessings. I loved everything about Rachael's presentation and could not be happier to have her guiding me through such sad occasion fare-welling my partner of 16 years.

Rachael was very caring and professional during this whole process. She was very accommodating, kind and very supportive from the initial meet and greet right through to the gathering of information and then the final task of celebrating my fathers life with friends and family. She is obviously a very experienced celebrant which shines through in the way she builds rapport and conducts herself. I highly recommend her services.

Dear Rachael Just to thank you once again for your beautiful and considered approach to Mum’s life celebration yesterday. The words you chose and the way you delivered them was really touching and beautiful. You made us all feel very calm and natural when we gave our speeches which took away any pressure from us and made our jobs much easier. I loved your quotes from the various poets as they befitted Mum perfectly. I am so thrilled you guided us through a difficult and extended time, your calm professional advice was gratefully received. Thank you Susan, Gary and Andrew
