This review is for Carrington Cake Shop, Box Hill VIC

verified email - 26 Jun 2013

One of the most significant and oldest bakeries in Box Hill, this cake shop is still doing well despite some steep competitions around.

The cakes nor pastries aren't as fanciful looking as the ones sold at other bakeries but the savouriness and the services provided by the staff are exceptional. Not forgetting they are reasonably priced too.

When I crave for Asian pastries or cakes, this is one of the bakeries that I will patronise.

This review is for The Princess Theatre, Melbourne VIC

Musicals and orchestras are always my favourites and I have been to many theatres as well as concert halls but The Princess Theatre never fails to impress me no matter how many times I've been there.

I love the historical feel to it and how the original structures /artworks are being kept and if you are seated at the front rows of the circle seats, you will be able to watch not only the performance on stage but also the orchestra that is playing right underneath the main stage.

The queue to purchase drinks and snacks moved relatively quick which is a plus but waiting in line to get into the ladies toilet was a real pain.

The seats could be a little uncomfortable to some and there weren't much room for us to shuffle through but having mentioned all these, I love this theatre !!

And the latest Musical that I've watched, was The Legally Blonde which was simply splendid. They even brought a couple of dogs on stage and they were so well trained !!! Impressive !!

This review is for Lazy Moe's, Forest Hill VIC

Take the Moe's test and read their terms and conditions !! They are hilarious !!

My mood was instantly lifted the moment I entered the restaurant as the place was huge, brightly lit, clean and a warm greeting by the staff. Not only are there lots to choose from on the menus , the prints were real funny too !!!

For snacks, I absolutely love their Saganaki as well as Taztziki Dip although some might find the Saganaki a tad too saltish. As for mains, I went for their Chilli Con Carne and I tried some of the Lamb Shanks off my brother's plate and they were both surprisingly good !!!

Almost everything here comes in BIG portions so unless you're a big eater, you might need to share your dishes....

Although we were there on a Public Holiday ( Queen's birthday ) and there was only one waitress, we were prompty served and the food , well cooked so thumbs up for Lazy Moe's !!!

This review is for Miku Japanese Dining, Doncaster East VIC

verified email - 11 Jun 2013

A tiny, warm and cozy little Japanese restaurant that not only delivers authentic Japanese cuisines but the foods are served and cooked with passion.

Their sashimi are fresh and their bentos as well as dons are to die for.

This place might be a new kid on the block but it has established quite a reputation as well as clientele of its own. A definite must try if one is around this area.

This review is for Wagamama, Chadstone VIC

verified email - 07 Jun 2013

I love the concept of this place but due to it's location, the ambience just wasn't there and it was hard to hold a proper conversation with my friends due to all the noises that went on in the Mall.

Service was fantastic and the staff , super friendly and helpful. Food was pretty good and my favourite would have to be the Teriyaki Beef served with lots of greens although the sweetness of the Teriyaki sauce could be a little overwhelming and sweet.

Prices are a rather steep for a place like this but having said all of the above, I do like this place . I just wish they could drop their prices a little .

This review is for Dlands Cafe, Docklands VIC

verified email - 07 Jun 2013

One would expect a cafe to be pretty quiet on a weekday afternoon at Docklands but to my surprise, this cafe was actually pretty packed while I was there.

I spent a good one hour there , reading , enjoying the breeze and savouring their Lasagna with a cup of extra hot Latte which seemed pretty popular as most of their customers ordered that as well. The Lasagna was good but they went a tad too generous with the salad dressing which caused my salad to be a little too sour and soggy but my overall experience was good.

This review is for JJ's Bar & Grill, Southbank VIC

verified email - 02 Jun 2013

A brief introduction of JJ's ..... Nice ambience , spacious , top notch service , great music with live performances and superb quality food.

The steaks are good and perfectly cooked but sides are ordered and charged separately. The entrees are also good but extremely tiny portions and rather plain. Their dessert and cheese platters are to die for.

JJ's also offers a huge range of exciting wines, cocktails as well as mocktails but it took the bartenders quite a while to serve us our drinks .

This review is for The Coffee Club, South Melbourne VIC

verified email - 01 Jun 2013

Coffee Clubs used to be pretty good in my opinion but I can no longer say the same as the quality of their food as well as services have definitely dropped and I am not saying this based on one recent dining experience but a few at different outlets respectively. Not forgetting that almost everything they have on their menu are also overpriced.

I had tried the Mushroom, Feta & Spinach Omelette, Breakfast Wrap, Lifestyle Breakfast as well their Steak Sandwich but they were all rather disappointing especially the Omelette. It was tasteless and overcooked.

Apart from the ambience which I like, there really isn't any wow factor for me to return to any of their outlets and the unfriendliness of their staff sure don't help either.

This review is for Gold Leaf Chinese Restaurant, Burwood East VIC

verified email - 28 May 2013

When I crave for Yum Cha, Gold Leaf Chinese Restaurant will be amongst the top of my go to list.

There's definitely no shortage of parking lots here nor are there any shortage on customers as this place is extremely popular so reservations are highly recommended.

The restaurant is huge, clean, classically decorated with a wide spread of Yum Cha dishes and most importantly, the quality as well as the taste which are excellent.

Expect certain level of noise pollution and the services provided might not be consistent as I've been experienced both good and bad.

This review is for The Maling Room, Canterbury VIC

verified email - 28 May 2013

Dinning at Heritage buildings or landmarks have always been a passion of mine and The Maling Room is amongst my favourites.

I love the high ceilings, the old leadlight windows, dark timber furnishings, the brightness of the cafe on a sunny day and best of all, the quality of their food as well as the efficiency of their staff.

The best coffees can also be found here as the coffee used are of high and excellent grades and their breakfasts are to die for.

Each tables are sparsely spread which gives one plenty of room to move around in and great for families with prams or young children.
