This review is for Kmart Tyre & Auto Service, Werribee VIC

Simply put, probably one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in regards to getting my car serviced. I had previously been a regular customer at Kmart Auto at Altona Gate Shopping Centre and thought the provided OK service. Since I moved to Werribee, I wanted to continue using Kmart's service. I just came back from overseas and forgot how much a major service cost here in Melbourne. I was lazy to compare different places as well. The guy at the reception quoted something like $650 for a major service. I quickly just agreed and left my car. Only after I left my car that I relised I was being ripped off. It would've been okay if it was just the price but the job done wasn't really up to the standards. My car started making noises towards the front and when I took it back to them, they didn't do much about it and sent me home. I later found out that it was the aircon belt which was worn which made noises. But anway, I've never been back there since and wouldn't recommend the place to anyone.

I've been to a few shifty mechanics so finding a reliable place to service my car was a relief. They do the job pretty well. If you would like to you could stick around while they do your minor service for just $79 and watch them on the CCTV screen. The advice they give is usually helpful even though there could be random ones that aren't necessary. I'm sticking to this place because they've been consistently reliable.

This review is for Star Pizza & Pasta Cafe, Newport VIC

This pizza and pasta joint has quite a few choices of combos. The taste hasn't disappointed so far. The garlic and cheese pizza and the vegetarian pizza are probably our favorites. If we run out of ideas of what to share with our friends, we just drop by there and pick one of their meals. Pretty good value for money I would say.

I've been to this restaurant a total of 3 times. I must say the food and the service has been quite consistent. I would recommend the deep fried fish with chuchee sauce and the green curry isn't too bad either. I've heard of people who experienced horrific customer service there but personally, I never did and I found the staff to be quite helpful (even when I didn't speak a word of Thai to them). There are other places that offer more for money but if you don't mind spending a bit more than $10 then this place will offer you some quality Thai food.

I really thought that this place would have a Thai owner just by looking at the name. But talking to the staff, I think they were Chinese. The menu was far from authentic Thai and the taste was very Chinese. If it portrayed itself as a Chinese restaurant or even just an "Asian" restaurant, I would've given it higher rating on the quality but since it says Thai (and I know my Thai food) I gave it just 3 stars. Go there if you want a filling meal but don't go there if you are looking for some real Thai food.

This review is for Yoyogi, Melbourne VIC

I've been trying to eat more vegetarian food recently. Yoyogi isn't a vegetarian restaurant but has quite a few nice vegetarian dishes such as the buck wheat noodles with wild vegetables and the eggplant entree. Some other fellow raters gave them pretty bad scores for their service but I found the staff there to be quite quick and helpful (not sure if my good looks play a part =P.. jokes!). I wouldn't call myself a Japanese food expert but the food here suits me perfectly. The price is very reasonable as well. Lunch or dinner, this place will most likely offer the value for money. Since I study around there, I will most likely visit the place once or twice a week and try more dishes.

This review is for Fresh Chilli Thai Restaurant, Laverton VIC

I lived in Thailand for about 10 years and am very familiar with the food. I didn't expect much from a Thai restaurant in Laverton when my friend first invited me and my gf. The first impression I got when I entered the restaurant was that it was compact but not suffocating. The place was clean and easy to the eye with all the expected props to create that Thai feel. The service was great. It may be partly due to the fact that I could speak Thai but my friend that brought me there has always had a good experience there. She always chooses the place everytime she wants to bring someone to a Thai restaurant. Anyway, the food didn't disappoint. It actually exceeded my expectations. But if you ask me if it tasted authentic Thai, I would say they adapted the food a tad bit to suit the Aussie pallet. But it was definitely a good dinner overall. I wouldn't definitely take anyone I want to introduce to Thai food there.. or just invite them over for dinner. =D

This review is for Teppansan Japanese Café, Melbourne VIC

This Japanese joint is up there on my list of favorite restaurants in the CBD. It's definitely one that I visit the most often whether to have lunch or take away. Firstly, the price is awesome if you are looking for a substantial meal for lunch. There are a few choices you can get for just $6.80. My favorites are the Tofu Steak with Mushroom Sauce and Sakana Fish Curry. The meals usually come with free miso soup. The fish used for the sushi and fried items is fresh. It's gonna take something special to beat this place in terms of taste and price. The service is not too bad as well. The owner is very friendly and he'll recognise you after a few visits.

I looked at some of the previous ratings and it seems they had quite a different experience from what me and my gf did. My first impression of the place was that the view and the settings were beautiful. We placed our orders but had to wait quite a long time before our entree was served. There was also such a massive wait between the entree and the main. I remember I ordered lamb kebab and it was less than impressive. It wasn't the explosion of herbs and succulent lamb meat that I had expected. It was dry and tasted burnt as well. I also thought the servings were quite conservative in size. I honestly was a bit underwhelmed by the taste and serving size of the food.

This review is for Berth, Docklands VIC

Brought girlfriend's family there for her mom's birthday. Me and my gf at at a restaurant opposite Berth just a few months earlier and didn't enjoy the experience. Berth could've either restored my faith in the restaurants at Docklands or could've made me have a fixed perception of Docklands being over-rated. But Berth exceeded all our expectations with great food and service. We had soup of the day and turkish bread with dips for entre and it was a good start. The servings for the mains were worth the price and tasted awesome. The lamb shank and barrimundi were the two dishes that stood out. Overall it was a great experience. Definitely bringing ppl there again.
