5 reviews about Bartle Frere Bed & Breakfast

Driving north and with Bartle Frere in our sights we found this charming bed and breakfast. Immaculate accommodation fully self contained with a small kitchen and separate bedroom, it had everything we could have wished for. Breakfast, with a menu of choice, was served on the veranda looking over the garden filled with butterflies and birds. As there is ready access to Josephine Falls and on to Babinda and the Boulders we found it great to stay 2 nights to enjoy such peace and beauty. Many thanks

This is truly one of the loveliest B&Bs I've ever stayed in. Its hosts offered a perfect blend of helpfulness but privacy. The accommodation was extremely comfy and the hosts had thought of everything, including little touches like an umbrella, a torch, delicious home-made biccies waiting for us on arrival, and a really good selection of coffees and teas. We thoroughly enjoyed having a whole flat to ourselves, with proper kitchen, a loungeroom, etc. The bed was extremely comfy and it was a delight to have such peace and quiet and to then hear the birds happily chortling in the morning. But best of all was the breakfast. What a feast! Real cappuccino, tropical fresh fruit salad, delicious home-made muesli, lots of other home made goodies and a camembert, baby spinach and herb omelette. It was wonderful value, an idyllic spot and will stay in my mind as a very special place. Thoroughly recommended.

We were fortunate to stumble on this place, very close to Josephine Falls but private and tranquil. The hosts, Terry and Helga, made us very welcome, the apartment was sumptuous and the breakfasts were works of art! We only wish we could have stayed longer and will certainly do so again if we are back in Queensland.

We stayed at Bartle Frere by accident when the road back to Cairns flooded and we were stranded. They luckily had a vacancy and took us in and it was one of the best places we stayed in during the entire 3 week holiday. They are wonderful hosts, friendly but giving their guests plenty of privacy. The property is in a superb location minutes from the gorgeous Josephine Falls (also a favourite on the trip) and the garden apartment is fitted out with top quality furnishings and all the little things you miss when you are away from home.

Approximate cost: $130
