Started off well, good prices, promised regular every 14 days shipping to Perth W.A.
Unfortunately inspite of their promises ,for some reason one rifle I ordered has sat in their shop for 44 days now "awaiting shipping" and is still there waiting.
After numerous emails I gave up on getting it posted so asked for a refund. Their answer
No it will cost you 72 dollars to cancel and store credit on what's left is best we can do
No apology, not even an attempt to understand my frustration at their terrible attitude, 1 email back saying that and now they are ignoring me.
Shop at your own peril, customer service is non existent

Went to Cleaver's one busy Saturday afternoon in the hope that they would have a claw extractor for my Marlin 336. Spoke to Jade and he personally looked after me by getting one of the staff to rummage through a box of Marlin parts out the back. After some time. sure enough, the part was found. Can't understand the negative reviews about Cleaver's. I have bought over 15 rifles and accessories there in the past 30 years and I keep coming back. There's a reason for that.

I went into Cleavers today looking for a hard to get shell holder, Saturday, very busy. Tony Cleaver just finished helping one customer when he asked if he could help me. I explained what I wanted & Tony spent the next 5 minutes looking, no luck. He then said he'd tried to find a box of second hand shell holders . No luck. He then said he'd get Jade to help me ( I think Jade is his son ) . Jade turned up , listened carefully to my request & after looking around for some time found what I was looking for. The boss & his son spent a considerable amount of time during the the busiest time of the day to help me get my $5.00 shell holder. I and my 2 sons have been going to Cleavers for over 25 years, wonder why ? Thanks Tony and your staff. Maccas.

Went to cleavers last week with my wife and child, we were all wearing masks upon entry and we noticed after a few minutes that almost none of the staff were wearing their masks.

My wife readjusted hers down under the chin, within 10 seconds a little angry man with grey haired set upon her yelling at from about 10 meters away.
“Put that Mask on properly”. He blurted
“But none of the staff are wearing masks, I thought it would be okay”. She questioned
She promptly put the mask back on. This however was not enough, the little man walked over to her in a harassing and intimidating manner saying the staff had medical exemptions and it was none of her business.
“All the staff? There must be 15 staff without masks” she questioned
My wife left in tears,

What a wonderful employer cleaver Firearms are, where they employ people almost entirely with lung conditions who all have valid medical exemptions.

While the great unwashed must wander around and be treated like second-class citizens who are unclean and must be spoken to so rudely. Some would call this hypocrisy. Not me! My wife should just toughen up the Cleaver way!
I supported this company for 30 years. Just realised other companies sell the same thing without the humiliation. Everything wrong with this country now resides at Cleavers in the microcosm of their arrogance
I vote with my wallet, goodbye! Never Never! AGAIN!!

Hi Rob,

Reading through this review it becomes evident that you tend to exaggerate and embellish stories. Allow me to clarify

If the man, which you have attempted to belittle in your review, did indeed blurt at you or your wife from 10 meters away and she also left crying, multiple people would recall the event. Surprisingly not one of our staff recall this incident, but I do invite you to call me with the date and approximate time of your encounter so that I can review the camera footage.

Also, your math is a little off in relation to our staff. We have over 30 staff here at Cleaver Firearms and 7 of them have current exemptions on file and do not wear masks. If you are that narrow minded that you believe you can only have an exemption with a lung condition I suggest you seek further education on the subject prior to commenting blindly. The medical status of our staff is indeed none of your business.

So because your wife was simply asked to re-adjust her mask, you feel as though you were treated as second-class citizens and an entire Countrys problems now stem from one store on the North Side of Brisbane that is simply trying to do their part in accordance with the health directive? Very melodramatic

They're prices are quite good but when shopping online there's no way of knowing if what you order and pay for is in stock until the order is processed.
For example, the web pages for gun shops like Rebel Gun Works and The Open Range plainly say that an item is out-of-stock if that is the case.
The wait for backordered items From Cleaver is usually many months, and while they can't control that there is no ETA given either. The last time I cancelled an item that was backordered and wanted a refund I had to pay a fee.

Sorry to hear you didnt not enjoy your experience shopping with us. Unfortunately we currently do not have a stock program that is linked to our website, so we cannot display what is in stock etc. While some may think this is easy to accomplish, it most definitely isnt and takes a significant amount of time and cost to complete. It is something we are looking at in the future though.

In Terms of the wait for products, every industry is currently going through longer than usual delays in receiving stock due to the pandemic. We will only give you an ETA if it is available to us at the time of enquiry, if there is no ETA we are unable to provide one.

In relation to the fee you were charged on your order, if you select to backorder an item and then cancel it within 30 days of requesting the backorder you are charged a minor fee to cover the credit card expenses. This is clearly mentioned in our terms and conditions on our website that you are required to agree to before placing an order.

Phoned on Tuesday to check stock on a Cold Steel Knife on special . Gave the shop assistant the part number and was told it was in stock, Went in the the shop on Wednesday gave the shop assistant the the part number and was told no stock available. Rang again on Thursday morning and was told by a Female assistant that they five available. Confused ! I have generally had good service from this store , Product range and pricing is the best around.

I made a phone call to them a minute ago..I was expecting a long waiting “hold”...but it only took a minute or two. I wanna compliment Miss Natasha for accomodating me in a professional friendly manner, I made like 3 different queries for different orders and I was impress the she helped me out...I can’t feel any rudeness or impatient on her voice...she helped me thought out to sort out all my queries...She’s one valued staff...again...thanks miss Natasha .

The main issue with Clever Firearms is that they mislead their customers. They have a massive catalog of goodies on their website at good prices but in most cases, they simply do not have the product in stock.
You place an order, they take your money, put it in their bank account and you wait for your back-ordered item with zero indication of when you might receive it. You could be waiting literally years.
Consumer law in Australia needs to be modified to stop this dishonest behavior.

Hi Roberts,

As you have not used your real name I cannot locate your invoice to find what you are referring to.

Firstly, it is spelt CLEAVER not CLEVER.

In no way shape or form is our website misleading. We have nearly 10,000 different items listed on our website currently and we keep majority of them in stock. Unfortunately, sometimes products do sell out. We then must await re-supply of the products as we do not manufacture them in store.

Our customers are offered two options, they can wait for the product to arrive (backorder) or alternatively cancel the order. At any point in time if a customer has an item on backorder and they wish to cancel it and receive a refund all they have to do is call the store and request it. Customers also have the option to call the store prior to placing their order to check if an item is in stock.

Another thing to currently keep in mind is that supply chains for all products world wide have been disrupted and delayed due to COVID. This is something that every business is currently effected by and is beyond anyones control.
