Claim process was a nightmare!

Claim process is a nightmare! Took almost 3 weeks for my car to even be assessed. Countless hours on the phone trying to find out what was going on. At one point you couldn’t even tell me where my car was. Almost 6 weeks later, I was notified that my car was ready for pick up from Gemini Smash Repairs Eagle Farm. I arrived this morning to collect my vehicle only to find the trims had not been attached properly and the broken tail light had not been replaced as specified in the estimate. When brought to their attention they fixed the trims prior to us leaving but I was told they needed to take a photo and get approval from the insurance company to fix the tail light, then miraculously as they were fixing the trims they found a new tail light to replace my broken one. They left me with 4km of fuel in my vehicle to get to the nearest petrol station and when I asked about it I was told “oh, don’t worry you’ll make it”. I ended up sitting on the side of the road in 33 degree heat with my daughter waiting for roadside assistance. My car interior is filthy with paint stains on the seals and front seat. My key fob was also returned cracked and my keyless entry is malfunctioning meaning I can’t even lock the car (even the spare fob won’t work) requiring an inspection by Mazda to determine the problem when it was previously working fine. No help from AAMI at all. No response despite numerous complaints. I’ve been a loyal customer for over 15 years but not anymore.

Aami roadside assist lied and the administrative team was unwilling to help

My car wouldn’t start so they sent someone out to help. He jump started the car and said that the battery was only at 20% and would need to be replaced soon, and to drive around for 40 minutes before shutting the car off. He said that if the car wouldn’t start again to call them again and they could replace the battery.

Two days later my car wouldn’t start so I called them. I was transferred to the Roadside Assist Shift Manager Caitlin who would not send someone out because they had already sent someone out before and the terms of the policy did not allow for two call outs for the same issue. After explaining the situation and my interaction with their call out service person, she said that the case notes stated I was offered a new battery and declined this offer. I explained to her that this was not the case and my partner was also present who could confirm this. She said that the person would not have written down if it didn’t happen – accusing me of lying. She continued to state that she would not send someone out to assist me.

I would suggest to everyone to record your interactions with the roadside assist staff because they will lie about what they have said to you and the administration team will also be very unwilling to help.

Where to start. The claims process is like throwing your excess into a black hole and monitor an app which provides no information apart from a menu showing you the excess you paid.

Went through an anti-fraud process that took 2 weeks and consisted of a phone call. 25+ days for a someone to attend and check for mould with a leaking split system.

In the meantime, I just replaced the air-con as it is needed for the home office. They have denied the replacement cost and now waiting on somone to attend and report. No idea if the mouldy ceiling is covered.

Just avoid this disgraceful company. Their advertised claims payouts is most likely they paid a portion of a claim.

Save yourself dealing with ametuers and go with anyone else.

Never! It used to be a nice and reliable insurer but no more! They do everything they can to isolate themselves from customers with whole barage of these "please press x" bull. Just try it. No e-mail contact and if you try to log into your account you will be facing an arrow going in circles in the middle of your screen forever (I waited only an hour). Disgrace and shame on you.

Well, I was surprised to read some not so pleasant reviews for AAMI. We have been insured with them for a couple of years now and unfortunately just before Christmas we were rear-ended. Our car is no longer road worthy and we were without a car. AAMI offered us a rental car free of charge until our insurance claim was sorted out - whether to fix it or write it off. I have found the customer service to be excellent, very caring staff and I have to say Wesley - the assessor has been outstanding with trying to sort this out as the repairer holding our car is closed for a few weeks and our car cannot be accessed, which is delaying our claim.
I highly recommend AAMI.

Am looking to change my Home insurance as soon as it is up for renewal. A pipe burst in our home needing us to make a claim.
Claim made Friday finally had someone call to book in an assessor on Tuesday only to be told it will be another 12 days before they can come out to do an initial; assessment; asked how long until repairs made: unknown.
When asked if I was able to use my own repairers was told sure but we do not pay retail so you will be out of pocket.
Have had two friends use RACV and they were given a lump sum to pay their preferred repairers and the money was enough to cover!

I would NOT recommend this insurance company to anyone. Made my first claim after 6 years, and almost 3 months later, I still don't have my car back! The repairers they took my car to, couldn't have cared less, I actually have taken my car back 3 times because they didn't repair the damage correctly! This company is a disgrace, and I've been given the run around by 8 different people. Still no car!!! THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!

Approximate cost: $4800

AAMI is not the same since becoming part of the Suncorp group my dad had some new air conditioning units stolen from his strata properties and on lodgement of the claim they said this will be reviewed as the policy is still new (4 months)
