One of my Xmas presents was a $50 Abbey's Bookshop voucher. I spent two hours there today leafing through books, weighing them, touching them, and I left having purchased a lot more than $50 worth of books! It's such a beautiful bookshop and the range of books is staggering. You'll find everything there from the latest paperback fiction to the most academic of academic tomes. Upstairs they also sell foreign language books and DVDs. It's a little corner of Paradise in Sydney so down with the Kindle and the online bookstore and five stars for Abbey's Bookstore!

Undoubtedly the best bookshop in Sydney for literature, classics (Latin and Ancient Greek), and history. The staff are very knowledgeable, and the prices are good, considering many of the titles can't be found elsewhere. For anyone studying or interested in the humanities, this is definitely the place to go!

Definitely a must of you are looking for foreign language textbooks and novels. We've purchased CDs and dictionaries in 3 languages. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. The technical books are also great quality, though a bot overpriced (but they're a unique place selling imported materials, so they have to do that). We've never been disappointed here so often make the long trip to the city for this.

Approximate cost: $210 for a collection of 100 French lessons in 10 CDs

Unique as it is one of the few stores in Sydney that offers such an extensive Language section. Always advertising great deals and bargains. The staff are friendly and great at recommendations.

I love books and love to read and have always found Abbeys books in sydney city to be a great place to go to get either the latest bestseller or to find something more to your taste and if you cant find it there, they will order it in for you.
