I enquired about joining. Their response was they would contact the Police! I have since heard the Club has issues. Such a shame. Training your dog on a Sunday morning with other like-minded people can be such a positive.

All I can say is WOW what a messed up club!! Ive been attending this club for quite a few months now and met some lovely people and their four legged friends but the consistent reviews that I get from these people is that there is an underlining of politics which starts from the top, that goes with it. I was told by these people that if I disagreed with anything, not to express my opinion for fear of being thrown out of the club altogether. The classes are very regimented and military style which is great if you want the show your dog in competitions but for the average Joe it is no fun for you or your dog. The one thing I will say for the club is that its instructors do have a lot of experience but they do need to move into the 21st century with their training techniques. Ive done a bit of research and apparently there is another Dog Club which has just started in the Altona Meadows area which focuses on positive reinforcement to train your dog instead of check chains and the word NO. So do yourself a favour and chose the right training technique that suits you and the happiness of your dog. I know which one Ill be choosing.

Wish I had seen this before. Totally agree and most of the instructors are like they are taking out their frustrations. No positive reinforcement for the dog or handler. And because of the nature of how they operate there is no consistency in instruction . I felt like I was losing my dog connection. And after realising this I have stopped it. I did have a private trainer and he did teach me how to say no in a calm tone. Here it is like jumping the dog out of its skin. Thats the difference and I guess you get what you pay for ultimately. That said there are some good instructors. The whole volunteer instructor model does not work well. Having had show dogs doesnt make for a good teacher
