I went to this place for a friend's birthday a little while ago. The restaurant is always busy, in part due to the location and lovely look of the restaurant, which is welcoming, with a lovely alfresco area and huge windows looking into a wood-paneled dining area; and in part because of the great menu. The pasta was great, although I was quite unadventurous: I had a bolognaise, because there is NOTHING better than an authentic bolognaise done by great chefs!
The night was fantastic, and I really enjoyed myself.

The only thing I suggest is that perhaps Amalfi could take one table from the restaurant in order to give just a smidge more room to diners. The place gets quite crowded and a wee bit noisy.
Having said that, they probably don't need to change anything because they're obviously doing super well!

I would still recommend a visit, although you do need to book quite in advance in order to guarantee a table.

I'll give they have some good pizza and good pizza options.
However, some others in the group got the salt and pepper squid. Bad value! 8 pieces of squid for $21.90 as an entree, and something like 14 pieces for the mains which is close to $30. That's a bit much. Also, the squid they said wasn't great.

If anything, go for the pizza and I hear the pasta is good. Otherwise, don't bother.

We went to this restaurant and whilst we did not have a booking were lucky enough to get a seat outside. The fast service was impressive given how busy they were and both the pasta and pizza we had were excellent. My husband is actually not keen on Italian food and said that he would happily come back here.

Once again we had a great experience here. Everything was perfect starting with the oysters, so fresh. Their pizzas are always perfect, crisp base, generous toppings and full of flavour, but not over done. Also enjoyed their marinara - probably the best we have ever tried and their garlic bread, also delicious. The staff are always helpful, friendly and prompt with service. Not complaints, everything has been perfect every time we dine here.

Great atmosphere, friendly service and fabulous food!

Decided to go here with a couple of friends after reading so many great reviews. We were not disappointed!!!! Such friendly staff, quality food and generous portions, how could it get any better. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, I especially enjoyed their Amalfi Special Pizza. The oysters tasted so fresh, my husband didn't really want to share them, so I only managed to eat "2". Tried their delicious garlic bread (I always have to start the meal with some garlic bread). We all shared our meals so we could try a bit of everything. I have to say we all enjoyed the Calabrese pasta dish, all our meals tasted so authentic. All our meals were terrific and we will definitely be returning again.

I went here one night after work (working in the city, this is in a very convenient location). The pizza's are really nice, second to none really in Adelaide and the service was really good. It's hard to find good restaurants in Adelaide so to find this little gem was great. You really need to book though as we saw a lot of people get turned away due to lack of availibiity.

I had dinner on a thursday evening with friends from work.Glad we booked a table as the place was crowded.
Pros:
- Excellent food - obviously has stood the test of time and has very regular clients. We ordered some pasta and pizza and the dishes were delicious and well presented.
- Quick service
- Generous serving size. The cost difference between the entree and main dishes was about 2$. If you aren't really hungry, the main dishes could serve two.

Cons:
- Crowded. very little space between tables.
- Noisy: With so many people in there, the restaurant ws quite noisy and it was difficult to converse with anyone except the person next to you or sitting opposite you.
- Hurried? There were times when the waiter seemed to be in a hurry for us to finish our meal. He was very friendly and efficient, but almost took my plate away before I had -completed!

fantastic and authentic food. i love the pasta, and the have great vegetarian options. The marinara pasta was delicious and the seafood was def fresh. it is very packed inside the restaurant on a weekend evening, so very difficult to get to the toilet, but there is a very homey feel to this restaurant. i would come again.

I went there two days ago for dinner. And the place was packed with people, kinda regret that I did not book a table beforehand. However, after waiting for 15 mins, finally we got a table. I ordered amlafi pasta and my friend order the americano pizza. guess what, ther serving is huge. i would say that 2 mains can be shared between 3 people. anyway, the food is nice and they have a wide selection of wine to compliment the pizza and pasta. =)

After a few years of not dining here were were delighted that everything was still the same. Amazing food, great wine list, brilliant service no matter how busy the restaurant is and a terrific ambiance. Well done Amalfi, take a well-deserved bow.
