Use to be quite good but since change in management a few years ago there has been inconsistent customer service, direct debit errors, lack of communication about changes and poor value for all the membership price increases.

We have been attending here for some time and normally I would say its a great centre. There is a hydro pool gym spa sauna lap pool outdoor pool and kids play pool with a slide. There is also a basketball stadium at the centre. We have a family membership here and go quite frequently so my son can do his phsio program as well. Last night as I went into the centre i scanned the pass and kept walking as i usually do at the entrance. Then some guy that works there comes running after us and im like what the hell. He says to me where are your parent. Im 28 years old and I had my son with me and 2 other children. I was so embarresed. Then to add to it he said I didnt see you pay. Well i swiped the pass. Omg I was so embarressed. How rude. Besides this incident its normally a great place. There also in the process of upgrading the centre.

The small gym is great for someone that wants a more "personal" work out, and the staff seem really informed and know what they are talking about. Numerous netball courts, and aerobics studios for use/hire.
I love the heated pool, shame it isn't a little bigger.

Approximate cost: $5

Ashburton Pool and Recreation centre is a great place for all people. they have 3 indoor pools, one outdoor pool, gyms, courts and saunas and spas. They have cheap prices and a playground for the little ones. they also have a great canteen full of healthy snacks to keep you satisfied. The staff are responsible, although not there to baby sit are great with keeping an eye out for trouble makers or kid/swimmers in need. they have many different swimming classes aerobics classes and have classes for the elderly as well. they have disabiltly services there that make it easy for wheel chaired enable peoples to access the pool aswell. In summer it can be quite busy and they have a lovely grassed area to rest and relax for parents watching there kids or teens wanting to get some sun. They have lots of parking and lots of things to do there . so go enjoy and have fun.

Approximate cost: $4.00

Doing handball training every Thursday night from 8 to 10 here. They are great, but it would be even better if we would get line markings on the floor. Also the scaffolding on the corner of the court is not great either, maybe will get rid of it soon.

I use the pool with my my young kids and was happy to pay to do so. One day I went along, only to be told that now they realized my 3 yr old was 3, I needed to pay full adult price for myself to take him in for a swim. Prior to that I would just pay for him. Suddenly he turns 3, what do they expect? That all of a sudden he can go in on his own without me? Well, in the baby pool yes, but what's the point of that? He turns 3, I go from paying $3.90 to take him for a swim, to paying nearly $9! To take a 3 yr old for a swim! I was extremely annoyed, and I think this price may keep many families from taking their child swimming. I rang management but all they could do was explain, well, some people will leave their 3 year old swimming on his own, and go for a swim themselves, that's why I need to pay a full swim price. Right, I understand your problem, but that's YOUR problem. Put more staff on to police the place if that is an issue. I don't mind paying a bit more but $9 is crazy. Unfortunately, we don't go swimming as often as we'd like to now. The cafe staff are very slow. the hydrotherapy pool which is the best one for pre-schoolers, is often roped off for lessons, with 1 or 2 lanes only for play. Gee, reading this, I wonder why I still go there? Lack of other options.

Approximate cost: $9
