If you want a reliable and honest mechanic, this is definitely the place to go. Their price is reasonable and their staff are friendly. I will elaborate on the reasons why I think so:
I would like to make a comparison between the car service/repair market to health care system. Both of them involve complex services, and as a consumer, you don't really know much about quality of the work in terms of
a) If and when a problem arises (unless it's a clear breakdown);
b) What's really needed to solve the problem without over servicing;
c) how it's really going to benefit you in both the short & long-run; &
d) how much it should cost, so that you can be reasonably assured of the quality but not be ripped off.

Thus, almost in all cases, we have to rely on the auto-mechanic to represent our best interests, much in the same way as we like to trust our GP. For sure, many of us feel uncomfortable with this, and don't necessarily have the knowledge of correct language to probe and question.

In my experience, I’ve been coming here to the Auto Studio with my Mercedes for a good few years now and I'm continually impressed.

These guys specialise in European cars (Audi, Peugeot, VW, Mercedes Benz & Skoda), which does put them in that higher-end market and so perhaps not universally applicable for all readers.

As a result, labour costs can be a tad more expensive than other independent, suburban mechanics, but are within an acceptably competitive range and value is really provided through
- Specific understanding, knowledge and access to Euro model issues/parts;
- Clear communication of required parts/labour (and the 'why', so you know why are charged!);
- Appropriate follow up letters;
- Routine and well managed documentation of issues from visit-to-visit;
- Round-the-clock availability;
- Additional frills (external cleaning, tyre blackening etc.); and
- Respectful demeanor.

They are a top service provider, with a very professional workshop.. again, you wouldn't want to be wheeled into a messy/dirty hospital, would you? I think the same goes with an Auto Studio, and these guys seem to take this, and their work in general very seriously.

After visiting some other Euro mechanic shops in the past, I'm glad to have now become a regular here and don't feel the need to move on and try other places just yet.

If there is one top quality that people really hope to find in their mechanic that it honesty. Unfortunately, in my experience the people at Autostudio are all but honest. Two episodes pointed in that direction.
1) the locking mechanism of the glove box in my Golf broke and the glovebox did not close anymore. No drama I thought...should be an easy fix! Autostudio told me that it was a commmon problem and that the piece can't be opened and fixed easily and that changing the whole piece was the only solution. (300$+ job!). So I said wait a moment let me have a look online so see what other people did in this situation. in 5 min on google I found a guy that even published a step by step guide on how to fix the issue and the glovebox ended up being a super easy fix that costed me only 10$ (1 screw and tape) and 40 minutes of my time. Thanks god i didn't say "yes change it" at autostudio.
2) My car had issues dying immediately after starting. Autostudio had a look at it and told me it can be a couple of things: faulty battery or sensor. So I initially changed the battery but the problem persisted, then I told to the guys at autostudio to fix this sensor convinced that that would have been the only remaining culprit. Guess what? the problem persisted and Autostudio did not even apologize for making me spend hundreds of $ and not being able to fix the problem! If Autostudio was a honest mechanic at this point he would have apologized and offered me to fix the thing for free, instead he said that the problem could be due to something else...

Putting things together, this is a clear example of dishonesty or in other words FRAUD. I will never bring my car to that place ever again in my life and I advise you to do the same.

Fabulous business. Very clean workshop, excellent service (hire car available for $22/day and they helped me change over baby seats), timely service and they did exactly what was required.

I bought a peugeot from Sydney and needed to get a service asap to make sure I hadn't bought a lemon. I took it here after looking at Google and searching for a place specialising in Peugeots. They were excellent- especially Tim- he was so helpful. Also they tested everything and were about $200 cheaper than going to Peugeot direct.

Approximate cost: $280
