I really liked Balla, even after considering the price tag, it was well worth it.
Every dish ordered was divine! Ambience is nice and relaxed. Nice open spaces. Staff were very attentive and friendly. This restaurant instantly transported me back to Milan - it was nice to know that one of the chefs was from northern Italy - this could be seen in the authenticity of the food.

Pretheatre dinner was great. The show started at 8, we arrived at 6.20 and had heaps of time without feeling rushed. Neither of us had the pretheatre menu but opted for an antipasto each- seared scallops (3, plump and juicey, with salad) and then i had crab gnocchi which was really very good. dangerous dish, gnocchi, commonly stodgey or chewey or way too heavy. these were light and tasty. the pastas were entree size but with a side salad to share and the complimentary bread, and a glass of vino each it all came to $70 each (inluding tip). Not cheap , not too pricey for the great service, food quality and stunning view of the harbour.

Approximate cost: $25-35
