This review is about the manner of a staff member when taking a phone call inquiry in emergency, about the condition of a patient. Despite the fact that the patient records would have been at the hospital for all the multiple times he had been there, and I was definitely the contact person on his paperwork, she refused to give me any information at all, repeating ‘I don’t know who you are.’ When I repeated that I was the next of kin and the person identified as the emergency contact, she said she did not appreciate my tone and hung up. I admit I was assertive, but not aggressive. I rang back, got a different person on the other end of the phone, and suddenly I was able to find out what I needed to know. The young girl with whom I originally spoke needs to develop a more nuanced understanding of the ways in which people are asking questions and perhaps some empathy as well for the concerns being felt by those who are at the mercy of the hospital bureaucracy .

Staff are helpful but if you are at emergency no one cares even if you are dying,
Some better care is what the community needs

I’m due to give birth in a couple of weeks and have been attending the ante-natal clinic at Bankstown hospital throughout my pregnancy.
I have been working with the midwives team and have been so impressed by their level of care and wisdom. They have made the whole process very easy and put my mind at ease as I approach the birth date, the parenting course they offer has also been fantastic to prepare for what’s ahead.
I feel very supported to create the natural water birth that I desire with their support.
Highly recommend !!!!
I’ll write an updated review after the birth but have every confidence in the team if midwives that it will be a beautiful experience.

My elderly father is currently in the hospital. I am frustrated with the lack of communication regarding my father's care- communication to us and communication between the various nursing staff and specialists. For example he was in ICU and the speech therapist said he could have thickened fluids to enable him to have his Parkinsons and blood pressure medication. He was transferred to a surgical ward, and when we came to see him he was on "essential meds" only and nil by mouth. This was advised by a different Speech therapist. He was not given his Parkinsons meds nor his blood pressure meds and then when they took his blood pressure it was high, and so he had to be given blood pressure medication through his I.V And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't how many times we said his SPC catheter was due to be changed and one staff member told us they didn't know how to do it and as of yesterday nothing had been done. We were told he was waiting to be seen by a neurologist days ago-still waiting for that to happen. It seems he has just been dumped in a ward and left with only minimal attention.

Poor communication from staff.
I kept asking staff what is happening now. People kept running around like headless chooks. I prefer to go to Liverpool Hospital.

I had been visiting family in Sydney when 2 nights ago I suddenly had trouble breathing in the middle of the night. Someone recommended that I go to the ER at Bankstown hospital. The staff there were very professional and quickly diagnosed that I had a virus in my chest which was causing proplems with my respritory system. They kept me in hospital for 2 nights and didn't discharge me until they were thoroughly satisfied that my breathing was under control. I was very impressed that the doctors were all on the ball and knew exactly what was going on and even bringing in a respritory specialist to have a look at me. The nurses all knew what was expected of them in regards to my treatment and vary rarely had to consult with doctors. The lines of communication were exemplary. The level of care here is second to none.

I would like to commend the staff at the Hospitals Ambulatory unit for their outstanding service of care towards myself and also (through observation) to other patients. The level of care provided was both professional and friendly, making me feel at home and at ease. The manners, genuine concern and sense of humour from the nurses and the doctors is truly admirable and commendable. There was a particular nurse ("Gale") who stood out. She was extremely patient, well-mannered and hospitable beyond expectation. Also, a friendly and funny "older" nurse (whose name I didn't catch) left me in hysterics before being discharged. Definitely a positive experience and the best service I've seen from hospital staff. Thank you bankstown hospital for such a positive experience! Many thanks... the "odd bod" with continuously decreasing B.P.

There is always an extremely long wait at this hospital. I've been there on numerous occasions and have always had to wait several hours. The staff at the help desk are very rude at times. The nursing staff and doctors are great though!

I have waited 4 hours, I wish they give you an approximate time to wait or here's a simple solution - HIRE MORE STAFF AND PUT MORE STAFF ON.

Having heard nothing great about this hospital we toke our youngest here on the weekend, she fell off the jumping castle at my niece birthday party.

She was in distress and saying her back was sore having landed on her bum and back we were quite worried.

Upon arriving we were called straight away, she was given Panadol which calmed her down, we waited about 20 minutes then the dr called us and we asked all the questions.

They examined her legs, back, spine and making sure she could move her legs as normal. After much examination they felt happy to let us go.

We were pleased how we were dealt, and have no hesitation going back if we have too.

Thank you

So glad your daughter's OK and you had a good experience! I've never heard anything wonderful about either, but that's a relief to hear :)
