I love this cinema! It's local and cozy, has a great candy bar and the staff are always friendly. I like that you can take an alcoholic drink into the cinema too!
Definitely a better cinema than many!

This review is for the outdoor cinema experience only...My partner and I checked the experience out New Year's Eve with Cameo's offering of 'Les Miserables'. Patrons sit on striped deck chairs on the lawn behind the boutique cinema complex, and with the use of head phones enjoy the night's fare. As noted on the website we arrived in plenty of time to choose our preferred spot on the lawn. You walk into the cinema, head down the long ramp, towards the back of the complex and descend onto the lawn area using rather scary stairs. Then you make your way up a side alley (and it seems that you're doubling back – surely you could have descended this way) to collect your striped deckchairs and headphones. As we were being handed our headsets we were told to come back and exchange if there were any problems. The headphones carried a lot of static, and the sound varied in quality, sometimes going soft, which you couldn't rectify as turning up the volume would give you more static. I know my partner had the same problem – as one of the first things he asked me was whether I was getting the static. The variance in the sound quality wouldn't have been a big deal if the film wasn't a musical. Sure I could have headed back to the alley and gotten another pair of headphones but chances are they wouldn't have been any different. There seemed to also be too much light coming from the back of the ‘park', causing the film to seem washed out. The train line at the back of the screen, and the passing trains weren't as bothersome, but rather ‘atmospheric'. I must say it wasn't as great an experience as Moonlight Cinema at the Botanical Gardens. I feel now as I need to see the film in a proper cinema to enjoy the music and the action.

Local, smallish and comfortable .... except for the air conditioning. On the two hot-ish days I have been there to see a movie, the air conditioning wasn't on. This made the experience very unpleasant.

I'd always prefer to see a film here than at my other 'local' cinemas such as Village Knox. The Cameo Card membership is a bargain, and the audiences generally seem more serious about films than in major cinemas where you get loud-talkers. They seem to be always improving the place too - a new bar and now they serve real coffee :)

Approximate cost: $11.50-$16.50

The Cameo is the hills local cinema, its family owned and the staff are always fantastic. The best current movies and art house specialty films are always playing and they have 3D films too. Best of all they've just expanded to include even more cinemas! And they do great outdoor movies in summer as well! They also respect the history of the business and building as being historic to the hills. The Cameo is my favorite cinema of all time.

Great place for locals to see a movie without having to drive to Fountain Gate or Knox. They have some new theatres which are tasteful and comforatable.

This cinema is such a lovely place to see a movie. It has all the old world charm of it's era along with the technology of the new. There are numerous cinemas within the complex and they have brand new chairs that are very comfortable. The staff are efficient and friendly as well as knoweldgable. They have a cheap night on Tuesdays which makes this very reasonable prices for a family. The food from the kiosk is great for a snack.

Approximate cost: $15.00

Excellent cinema. Has a huge variety of mainstream and art house films. Staff are really helpful and knowledgeable about different films. We have had some great recommendations for movies we wouldnt normally watch, but have really enjoyed.

So wonderful. It always has the best films, some that are so hard to see anywhere else. I don;t know what I'd do without it. The service is always good.

Approximate cost: $15
