A charming old fashioned theatre that is famous for its elaborate show organ which is used for concerts and sing-a-long movies. The seats could be more comfortable, but they match the age of the theatre. Been there many times.

This theatre is from the art deco era and has fabulous decor and staircase. Modern films are shown here in this lovely ambience. Sometimes the large theatre organ is played prior to the film being shown. I believe the organ originally was in the old Regent Theatre which was in Rundle Street in its heyday. A wonderful experience. Organ recitals are held here too.

Great for a small older cinema. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Prices are a little bit cheaper then your bigger cinemas. Seats are not as comfy as other cinema's. Quite a few stairs to walk up to get into the cinema, so not good for older people or people with prams in wheelchairs.

Approximate cost: $16.00

This place is a treat. Great for date night as the ambience and special features like the organ playing at the beginning are quite romantic. They are also exceptionally generous and helpful to charities holding movie nights. They themselves are run entirely by volunteers, save for the General Manager, and the volunteers are often on the other side of 60 and just gorgeous.

Stunning traditional movie theatre complete with huge organ which is played on special events. They have a Mums and bubs session which is great if you're feeling housebound with the little one. Gorgeous atmosphere.

Ok, last time I went there was a fire alarm halfway through and we had to evacuate but hey, it happens and they gave us free tix to return. But this place is unbeatable because it is not a hoyts or Greater Union, it has character, the prices are cheaper, it is never packed, love it and I feel it's important to support local business like this as they struggle to survive against the beforementioned operators. Go and be surprised!

Approximate cost: $11.00

I love the ambience of this cinema and the fact that it is staffed fully by volunteers who are trying to support the organ society who own the building and the organ. When the organ plays it is a fabulous experience. Seniors $7 every day which is fantastic. It's a great theatre and it's fun going to movies there.

It's not about the quality or the service or how much money you're spending. These factors are just little considerations within the bigger picture.
This place is just fantastic. You have a sense of going back in time to the days when movies were actually watched and not experienced.
The seating is uncomfortable, the venue isn't really built well and I think it's a little scrappy. But that's what adds to the Wow factor.

Approximate cost: $It's not about the cost

This theatre is really about the experience. The building is heritage listed and owned by the Theatre Organ Society of Australia. I love the atmosphere which is driven by a traditional feel and old-style elegance. Adding to this is the world class organ which is played before some movies. This means you can arrive early, take a seat, relax and listen to the organ before the movie starts - it really is a nice experience. The only downside is the quality of the screen isn't fantastic, but overall it doesn't really matter as they experience is a fantastic one!

Approximate cost: $Adult - $13, Conc - $9, Tue - $8
