My partner and I decided to have dinner here after flying into Sydney for a wedding. The restaurant was very busy which we found as a good sign. The staff were busy running around and they seemed to be too busy to take our orders but when they did take the orders, our meals were served 15 minutes apart. We found the meals to be small servings considering the price. One of the staff members kept coming to our table with 2 bottles of beer thinking that we had ordered them! The meals were nice but we won't be returning.

Really great consistently delicious thai food at very reasonable prices. I really like the rice paper rolls, salads and curries.
The food is ok, tasty and delicious but my second experience it seems that their servings becomes less.. I was very happy during my first time eating there.
Approximate cost: $100
Chat Thai in my opinion is the best Thai restaurant in the Sydney CBD, their food is always delicious and fresh and the prices are really reasonable too. I love the Kana Mhu Grob which is a delicious pork belly and kale stir fry. The staff are also great and accomodating. The restaurant gets so busy at lunch time.
Chat Thai is an overall good experience as in the decor is trendy, the staff are friendly, the prices are fair, the food tastes great and the location is convenient.
The pork belly and the massaman curry are cooked to perfection and so succulent and flavorsome.
Ok so my favorites thai restaurants in sydney are gata castle hill and home thai next to town hall station. This place comes in third place and I mostly visit them for their pad thai! yum no matter chicken or beef and central and convenient location!
I love this place, always a queue though, food is great !!
Awesome love thak
My sister in law and I had a girly day in the city shopping, we couldn't decide what to eat in the food court so we ended up on level 6 and found this place, she loves Thai food, I was eager to try as I heard so much great reviews about this place. We had to wait to get seated, the place was full of people.
We waited 10mins and then got called, groovy seats and the decor is really trendy. We ordered our meals, we had spring rolls to start with, which were delicious, fresh, tasty and there was heaps on the plate.
I had a chicken satay stick which was Devine.
My sister in law had rice and omelette which toke a while to be served, we had to call the waiter to find out why it was taking so long, I had rice with veggies which was tasty. All food made fresh.
You get cups of water, which the waiters keep filling.
Service is hard, they don't check on you, you need to flag them down as they keep moving fast.
I like their menus, has pictures of meals which is good for me as I hardly eat Thai.
Apart from the service I was really impressed with the food and the prices. Would like to visit again.
Approximate cost: $40.00
Love this place! Be prepared to line up at night for a table though.
Thank you for the tip :)
I strongly agree with you about the service! My partner and I had to beg for service to find out where our meals were :(
It was my first time here and it was a great experience that I will definitely be returning. The food was tasty and spicy and delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient. The prices for the food were very reasonable.
I was with a group (selected our own dishes to eat) and I had the red duck curry ($16) Yummo!! but everything that everyone else ordered also looked so tasty. $4 for a can of coke is however a bit ridiculous. Next time I will stick to the water.
The place is big but does get extremely busy so best to make a booking if you are a large group. If you are on your own get takeaway and go to the food court or Hyde Park and eat out!
Been here several times - good food, decent sized servings. Always busy with crowds of people up the front door queuing to get in. Traditional thai flavours on fresh quality ingredients. Food gets placed on the table quite quickly but because of the constant buzz of diners, trying to get the attention of the staff is a tad challenging at times.
Wouldn't recommend couples with babies or young children as the place gets crowded and noisy.
Went to this place few times with my friends, it's located inside Pitt Street Westfield. The place is decent, food are great, pricing is good.
When I think of Thai food, Chat Thai will be the first one that normally comes up to my mind. Love the food. However, as a mum that normally travel around with pram, I can't actually bring the pram into the place. I have to leave the pram outside the restaurant which is not convenient for parents with kids (I'll be wondering if the pram still there while I have the meal). The service is also varies, depends on the waitress that serves.
If you go there during the peak lunch time, the waiting time is bit longer but if you are not rushing and want to taste great Thai food then this is the place to be.
Approximate cost: $15
Love the foods
Very authentic and delicious Thai food. Its one of the best Thai restaurants in Sydney, definitely our favourite when we use to live in the city. There is always a long queue however it's not too long of a wait since they can call you if your next while you pop across the street or around the corner for a drink at the pub. The only thing I didn't like is that the restaurant is a little small and they only have one unisex bathroom! However the food is just fabulous you probably wouldn't worry about it too much!!
Approximate cost: $18
Went to Chat Thai for lunch during weekday and the place was fully packed. I got there early to get a seat for my friend and the staff kept asking when my friend will arrive like 5 times. As the smaller tables were full, we have to sit at a big table sharing with 6 other people. Very noisy place which is abit hard to talk. We ordered a chicken pad Thai and pad siew. Didn't wait for long flr the food to arrive. Serving size is huge and I must say it's quite delicious, the sourness and sweetness balanced perfectly. The staff came around a few times filling up our cups of water. However, just when we almost finished with the dish, the staff came and took them away; and the bill came straight afterwards. Abit of a rush but I will go back for the delicious food.
Approximate cost: $13
There was a great selection of dishes, and I thoroughly enjoyed my dish. The service was quite good as well, especially since I went on a Saturday. All in all, completely worth it !
Great value, decent taste Thai food.
I visited here twice now, first time was quite great, I visited during a more quiet hours, service was pretty fast, food was great, thought it was pretty value.
Second visit, it was packed during lunch time on a weekday, I was a little bit frustrated, people were like zombies, I'm not even kidding, I don't think it was the business' fault. Food was greater in quality the first visit.
I'd love to see a little bit more of consistency from this place, however, it's still a great place to eat. I'd however, avoid if they seem real busy, there are so many other place to eat around city.
Don't get me wrong I'd still recommend this place.
Sooooo good with great selection and most importantly was pleased with the number of cashew nuts I got in my meal. Was able to take leftovers home so that had the next days lunch sorted so very good value in my books. Very busy but still was able to get a table straight away.
YUMMO!!! This place is exciting in such a busy and expensive atmosphere. Many were having whole snapper with chilli sauce we had grilled lamb in sour sauce and rice with spinach and chilli sauce and massama beef with very small potato but was delicious. Time was about 8 min to get into the restaurant and about same for food to be put on table and service was extremely good for such a busy place. Water was given frequently but the only problem is that it is not a place to go to and relax. The sound system engineering needs a professional to tone certain areas of the music and the business means that you have to talk above your self to be heard but for the prices, you should not complain.
Love Chat Thai! Wish they had them in Melbourne. This time, we went to the Chat Thai in Westfield CBD for lunch. We were seated straight away which was great. However, after we were seated, it took nearly 20mins for a waiter to come to take our order. We had the Grill King Prawns with chilli lemon dipping sauce to share. The prawns were huge and cooked perfectly, nice and tender! I also ordered the Massaman Curry, with slow-cooked beef and potato. When I read the menu, it said “potatoâ€, I assume they meant “potatoesâ€, but when the dish came out, it really was just 1 cut up piece of potato. I was disappointed to say the least - and it didn't help that I ate the potato first and didn't realise that there was only one piece there...
The curry itself was very tasty, beef were tender and just melted in your mouth. Probably wouldn't order the curry again though, just a bit too meaty - need some more vegies. But I'll definitely recommend ordering the King Prawns!

wow 20 min for your orders to be taken? I would not be giving 3 stars if I had that experience, food must be really good.
