We went here for dinner one night. Was absolutely delicious! The steak was melt in the mouth. Its a bit pricey but worth it. You have to try the chocolate pudding =)

its difficult to walk past chimmys and not want to go in with the smell of their fresh bread. they often sell out if you leave it too late on a saturday to turn up. there is a small eatery section that offers good coffee and little treats.

This has to be the best bread in Richmond, especially if you're an earlier riser and are able to visit Chimmy's first thing in the morning!

Approximate cost: $10

I come here frequently for breakfast on the weekends and it's always fantastic and busy. The back courtyard is perfect if you're a rare smoker and the food is consistently yummy. Most of my friends when they come to visit me in Richmond suggest Chimmy's.

Approximate cost: $15

lots of choice but not a place that always makes you feel at home or free to spend lots of time lingering over the paper and a second or third coffee, service is OK but some staff are better than others

Always a great place for good, well made breads, and quality coffee. The fruit bread is my favourite. Dogs are welcome outside, which makes it a nice place to stop by after a walk.

Agree with Liz's review, but Chimmy's have recently doubled their space - so it is now easy to get a table (except on Saturday mornings, but that is to be expected!)

I try to pick up a loaf of olive bread from here whenever I'm having guests over. Their little cakes and pastries are ideal for morning tea and they make a fruit loaf that's so dense it can be served in wafer-thin wedges and still satisfy.

I've been informed by the boys in the cheese room at Richmond Hill Larder that the baguettes at the South Melbourne Chimmy's are better, but I'll have to demur to their judgment on that.

Oh, and the coffee is better than OK, too.

Approximate cost: $2-10

A vibrant, busy, cramped bakery cafe with indoor and outdoor tables filling the space. Great breads and pastries to take home or eat there, coffee and papers to read (if you are quick!) or buy. Service is best early in the morning before the hordes arrive but it is always worth a visit, even if the favourites have sold out. They make really nice sourdough, feta & spinach bread, pumpkin & onion, and delicious white stuff too.
