I always book my car in for an express service as I have a young child and we only have the one car seat so we have to wait around. Staff are always helpful and are always dressed respectfully. The place is always clean. Free coffee & biscuits while you wait in the little lounge area and they wash my car as well. Pretty happy with the service so far.

CMI Cheltenham should be avoided at all costs. I took my car in with a repeatable fault. They misdiagnosed a fault that other mechanic*s* identified as a common issue with my model of Toyota. They replaced (and charged me) for wrong parts - because it's supposedly "impossible" to diagnose a fault without charging me for a battery and leads (they put that statement in writing), when the problem is the starter motor. They refused to investigate the mis-management, despite a report from another mechanic (I could have gotten more of they wanted).

Approximate cost: $400

Hi DeWalt, we have just gone through a similar situation with a mechanic whom we erroneously assumed to be honest and trustworthy. Unfortunately, dodgy mechanics seem to be ‘a dime a dozen’ within the state of Victoria and such greed and incompetence is disheartening to say the very least. We would like to encourage you to lodge a ‘formal’ complaint with Consumer Affairs, as it will not only allow you to vent your frustration (with the possibility of recouping expenses) but might even encourage the business to alter their questionable behaviour, thus protecting future consumers. Irrespective of how you choose to handle this situation, we wish you the very best and are pleased that you have identified the issue at hand and will no longer be ripped off by such an unethical service provider. Thanks also for giving the WOMO community the heads-up! Reeces

I have been using this place to service the cars for a fair few years and whilst I was happy with the work, I have noticed on my last service that I was paying top dollar for a basic service(ie $50 more than other places), and then to top it off they put you on a guilt trip to do all these recommendations prior to looking at the car. So in effect you end up with a hefty bill at the end if you don't challenge them. I'll be seriously shopping around for the next service.

Approximate cost: $185+ for basic

Hi BarryBac, certainly sounds like a business worth avoiding. Thanks for the heads-up! Reeces
