This store is fairly busy it is mainly because you only find one or staff on the counter serving. Sometimes you have to wait for nearly 30 mins to get serviced. Also staff not that helpful. You need to know exactly what you want before going to buy anything. Prices are cheap but you can find stores that have the same price but offer better service.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with CPL, they always have stock of items and have good range and prices.

However if you want to return something, even with a valid reason, pretty much forget about it. I purchased a motherboard a while ago, that turned out to be faulty, brought it back the next day and they refused to swap it over because they found thermal paste the size of a pin head on the board and would only then warranty it for me, this is not the first time i have had issues like this either.

It is a sad indictment on a company when they have not improved their highly questionable behaviour in over 5 years. I will never, ever enter CPL's door again and encourage others to do the same. In the words of another reviewer, this company stinks.

Have been to this store many times and fine it relatively convenient and easy to get to. The layout of the store is spacious with many island cabinets showing off various IT wares around the store. There is adequate seating for while you're waiting for the order to be processed. There is also now a ticket system when you walk in similar to a supermarket delicatessen. The prices are now very competitive with some of the cheapest PC places in Vic and the staff are friendly enough.

CPL is the bottom of the bucket in service and support. I bought a wireless network card from them but there was a fault in the device driver for the card, making it useless. I discovered on the web other people had had a similar problem. When I returned it stating the problem, they charged me a $15 restocking fee... for a product that did not do as it was advertised! Another trick they get up to is overcharging on the advertised Green Guide prices that are even printed on their in-store price sheet. They did that to me on an Intel processor and when I queried the price they told me they can charge what they want. Some of their employees have little understanding of computers. Maybe this sort of service and quality is acceptable in a third world country like China, but not in a country supposedly protected by consumer laws in fair-go Australia. I have found Centrecom nearby and BudgetPC nearby to be far superior on sales and service, even if you pay a tiny bit more. Plus they are fluent in English. AVOID CPL.

I needed a USB extension cable urgently. The price was quite a bit higher than from elsewhere ($8), but it was convenient. The purchasing experience was appalling. I was the only person in the store besides two other people who had already been served. I waited 25 minutes to get the cable after I had purchased it. The madam in the parts office was chatting on the phone for 10 of those minutes and totally ignored me the whole time even though she knew I was the only one waiting. After 20 minutes I had to ask here why I have to wait so long and it was only then she decided to get off her backside to get it. Another 5 minutes later I got the cable. Her behaviour was clear that she not give a stuff and she completed the transaction with the smug comment "Thank you for waiting". This sort of crap happens almost every time I have purchased anything from CPL. They could improve by fixing up their woefully slow order fulfilment systems and hire intelligent people who know something about good customer service. In the past I have waited over an hour to get a part.

IF YOUR TIME IS VALUABLE STAY AWAY FROM CPL.

I have bought an Altec Lansing Fx5051 from them and somehow it became faulty after 2 months. I sent it back and claimed for warranty. I have been waiting more than 2 months now, and I still don't get my speakers back. One of the staff from CPL is really bad, I was talking to him on phone regarding to my speakers, like if they can't get my goods fixed, I would like to have a refund as advised by Consumer Affairs. He said to me " we don't take threats from anyone, if you really want to go for this, we'll see in court"

So I went consumer affairs to seek for solutions. I was advised to make a formal complaint and it might gets to tribunal in weeks time.

I've watched this place slide from reasonable service to some of the worst i've ever seen.

On one hand they are open on sundays, spacious in viewing room size, both good things..

However, unexpectedly long wait times and poor warranty support sour the experience. Returning a motherboard 2 weeks after purchase takes several months to come back because they need to Asus.

Somehow after 6 months of hearing Asus still has it or we haven't received it back yet.. etc..It came to a point where they said theyd call when they received it. That call never came. I come back to hear, its been 6 months and they no longer have it...This totally confused me.. I never received my motherobard back and decided to cut my losses and not go back....

Until.. someone at work decides to buy a whole system there. We have it delivered and he had already paid for it in advance. Because he ordered with stuff that was on backorder, by the time it was delivered, it no longer was eligible for DOA...guess what, the machine didn't turn on.. Yes it was another faulty motherboard...

From a business standpoint avoid these guys at all costs.. they have no form of SLA whatsoever in regards to their service or warranty. They sell you a system touting a warranty, only to have the complete system sit in their office for months to get a replacement motherboard...

I have heard absolutely arrogant and condescending remarks about the previous customer from staff as the customer is walking out of the door. Although they have prices that are similar in nature to MSY, CPL treat their customers in such a blase way that I won't voluntarily be returning there ever again. (There are viable alternatives to this store on weekends too)

I HAVE HAD TWO COMPUTERS BUILT BY THIS BUSINESS AND WOULD RECOMMEND THEM. I GAVE THEM THE ITEMS THAT I WANTED PUT TOGETHER. THEY CHECKED BEFORE INSTALLING THAT THERE WAS NO COMPATABILITY ISSUES. I ALSO PURCHASE ALL MY SPARE PARTS FOR COMPUTERS FROM THEM AS THEY ARE ONE OF THE CHEAPEST AROUND

bought various components for my computer from here over the years. ive found they usually have reasonably cheap prices and the staff seem to know what they are talking about which is good for those people that dont know everything about computers

You can talk to the staff here, and the prices at CPL are quite OK, for some things very cheap. The queues are long though don't understand why. They do know stuff about the gear and will recommend different products. The range is quite good.

Approximate cost: $cheap!!!!!

CPL is open on SUNDAY....... please support CPL as a lot of us rely on it for back up. Its hard to buy over the phone, which is a pain, but it has a much bigger range than MSY and it is only fractionally more expensive, a very good range of most kinds of computer parts and accessories and they will actually talk to you (unlike MSY) even though the price is practically the same. You can order stuff in.

Approximate cost: $low
