Nice salon, good location. The stylist who did my hair was very good. I could tell he was very experienced and knew what would suit me. The salon staff were friendly and professional and I had a nice head massage from bill. My new cut and colour. I went into see Phillip Michael’s with drab light brown hair and left with lovely golden blonde hair. Everyone says how much it suits me and I’m loving the new look. I only wanted a trim and I’m happy Phillip Michael’s listened and did not cut too much off. The salon is nice and friendly. Good service from the moment I walked in. both Phillip and his son bill was really genuine and fun to talk to. The prices are expensive but in my opinion, you get what you pay for. Have been recommending to everyone since!

LET me share what I read about Phillip Michael's
Mr Michael won hairdresser of the year in new England in 1990/1992/1994
his son won in 1996/97/99
he had wella support him in England MA Boston in2001 as he took on a charity gig with 600 stylists and over 3 weeks he and the team of hairdresser raised 7.2 million for the cancer research team new England Children voice box charity also the Ruben and McDonald charity. I have watched him closely as a hairdresser and he leaves me open mouthed as he works magic with his fingers, I hope 1 day to achieve the level or the understanding that his man has, he is a master hairdresser. Mr Michael was charismatic and charming, with impeccable manners, spiritual although not without ego (!) and looked like a sexy rock star in his tight pants, winkle pickers, long hair. This heartthrob hairdresser functioned from the heart and vowed to treat his ladies like roses. No matter how famous his client was, whether a housewife or how old, he did, looking into the mirror all the time, to make sure their hair suited them from every angle, often flirting as only he could and offering his last lady of the day a glass of a good champagne, in a great champagne flute, from the collection he kept with his shampoos and in his staff room ‘fridge.
I found this story wonderful Mr Michaels was a real artist, truly. Watching him cut or engage his staff and clients/friends, he really was a visionary. Perfectly un-perfect. one of the great thoughts/moments I took away from him was that hair was a never ending art project

my comments
My name is Shelia I am from India, I meet Phillip in the salon on Phillip street where I was booked in for a cut and blow-dry
now I am a shy person with long hair that is very damaged.
Phillip greeted me and his son brought me a pot of the most wonderful tea, and side goodies of biscuits now I was sitting down and told to drink my tea, normally you are rest to the basin to get your hair washed before you meet the hairdresser here it is tea 1st. Phillip came and sat down with me, he smiled and said there isn't anything you need to worry about just drink your tea and relax, I will cut your hair dry so you can see I am not cutting a lot off. Phillip started to cut my hair dry it was magic watching him in the mirror lifting feeling cutting the hair was taken in so many direction I got giddy trying to watch

end result he is a wizard and a gentleman you should all go and see him

I so admired Mr Michael's for how he treated people. Whether you were a celebrity or an ordinary housewife, you were always a star in his eyes. His dry cutting concept of hairdressing will change the hairdressing industry gere un Australia as it did in new England His work is and always will be mesmerizing. It’s timeless. There is no other Hair dresser that I have meet like him. He stands alone as one of the top 150 Hairdressers in the world. If you are fortunate to have the experienced Phillip Michael's sculpture free style hair cutting ,you have a true understanding of movement ,flow , softness , hair that will respond to you, hair that will dance with you, and you can also make it bark and attack , this is the artistic side of sculpture cutting.
to me he is the only hairdresser who craves in making his clients full in love with there hair, and trust me test him out for his ability to make your hair scream colour with his YING YANG it is true magic of colours coming alive

I received Ying Yang +cut and blowdry by Phillip Michael's, and was completely blown away by the results. I squealed with delight for a good five minutes at the end - lucky it went late and it was just me and him in there, maybe unlucky for him)
Not only is Phillip Michael's an excellent Hairdresser he is super friendly and patient - his son bill is delicious and I love the way they openly chat about what colours they should use, and you are involved in the colour stage and why colours will suits you or not. they both treated my numerous annoying questions (whatever it's confusing) like true professionals. I had a great time - refer to earlier squealing comment - and would recommend anyone city-side head to this salon. It's the real eye opener AMAZING. I love every thing this salon stands for it isn't to pricey, there's never been a time I have left the salon dissatisfied with my hair cut and/or colour.

the Salon is located on Phillip street and it is called PHILLIP MICHAEL'S OF MAYFAIR, and functions on TWO levels; street level wonderful handmade jewellery at $100 a bargain I found myself opening my purse as I brought 2 pieces for a lay away Christmas gifts for my 3 girls. , first floor is the main arena for hair wonderful discussions, on hair cuts and washes was invited up while phillip Michael's was finishing off a dry cut, he included me in what he was doing and why, I have never seen a cut cut so wild it was a masterpiece and I enjoyed it,

they are passionate about all things hair and conduct pre appointment consultations to discuss what kind of style your wanting and/or colour. This is incredibly helpful and one of the pleasures that does come with a pricey cut! You can also order a cheeky coffee or two during your visit to the salon :~)

My treatment started off with an in-depth consultation followed by an initial lesion from bill & Phillip on the colour wheel, and what depth my hair could or couldn't go.

everything was fully explained step by step from the amazing YING YANG all done by hand, to the wonderful hair cut,
let me start
when I sat down I choose the YING TYANG as I hate having a regrowth and this method stated no regrowth, I was I wanted this, as stated everything was explained, Phillip is a master hairdresser, however I became scared he stated cutting my hair dry, what was he doing I know I told him I wanted something different something that would suite me but he hasn't coloured my hair yet, I looked at him and his son saw my look and came over and said dad cuts dry before doing a colour as if you cut after colouring your cutting the colour out

Phillip finished cutting then I was amazed 4 colour bowls with colour was placed on a tray by bill and Phillip started section here 1 colour there another colour I couldn't keep up with what he was doing 30 minutes later washed out, he then fingered dry me omg o,m,g it it was wooooo the colours every section was different the cut I messed it up it fell in place phillip i.l.u

I read the reviews and wanted to experience the work for myself. I set up an appointment for a consultation and was greeted by the owner Dr Phillip Michael’s.
He took his time to explain the variety of options but most importantly asked me what" I wanted... how I usually wear my hair and what my expectations are.
My hair is a little above my shoulders In unwanted layers due to over processing, so I didn't expect a miracle...
But he exceeded my expectations Phillip and his son are both exceptional.
This is a full service salon where everyone goes out of their way to make sure you are satisfied.
Everyone continually checks on you to make sure you are comfortable and to make sure everything is going well throughout the process including the owner. Phillip never booked anyone around me my time was my time
I received a pot of wonderful tea and goodies of snacks
They saved my hair! I had a botched dye job and my hair was about 10 different colours and fried cause of the bleach. They were able to use toner to save the hair colour without completely destroying my hair
The colours Phillip did called a YING YANG and WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD, IT WAS ALL HAND DONE
He fully explained about foils and why my hair was frizzled in parts and told me this method wouldn’t hurt my over chemical hair in fact it will make it feel better, I though yer, yer whatever
I was wrong after the colour was washed and dried it looked so healthy and felt wonderful
The BEST experience I've ever had at a hair salon, they go above and beyond. THANK YOU to everyone, I am sooo happy, the results are AMAZING!! !! Overall great experience...highly recommend

this salon is one of the best that I have come across
it's a father & son business and when you step into the salon, a lovely dog called summer comes and greet you, and takes you up stairs to the salon level, once you are shown your chair, in front of you is the most wonderful pot of tea, with fun snacks, Phillip sits down and chats about your hair, the good and bad points and he shows you the last cut and explains if it was good or bad and he visually shows you where they cut it right or wrong. Then he starts cutting your hair dry, as he states we first get the shape while its dry then we get the style after we wash I paid $105 and it was worth every cent as it is the best cut ever, New clients reading this Phillip Michael's gets booked up very quickly 3 to 5 weeks in advanced, So he always likes to book clients in on a Wednesday or Friday he opens at 5am in the morning as clients get free parking till 8am and the last appointment is 2pm

if you want to feel good go to him $100 is nothing as you get a haircut that people will chat to you about, read his webpage too Phillip Michael's of Mayfair

Approximate cost: $105
