My husband and I had an absolutely appalling experience at Daylesford Royal Hotel and will never stay or eat there again. We found the food was overpriced and just terrible, the staff member who served us was poorly presented and more interested in talking to friends than attending to us paying customers. The table was dirty and we had to wipe it down ourselves given the lack of attention from the staff member. We had 2 friends join us to eat there and we all agreed the food was bland, either over or undercooked depending on what was ordered, and one meal was served quite cold probably because the meals took so long to reach our table even though the hotel wasn't very busy. The Pokies go late into the early hours and ruin any chance of a good sleep, as does the noise from the street. The room was also dirty, with stains on the carpet and furnishings. We heard there have recently been new owners and maybe this hotel used to be good, but whoever the new owners are they need to lift their game. We were very disappointed and after telling a few friends about this, when Daylesford has SO much better to offer with its multiple great restaurants, cafes and accommodation, they told me to review Daylesford Royal Hotel for the sake of others. So please take this as a warning! There's another hotel just over the road, it may be slightly more expensive but after we decided to not eat at the Daylesford Royal Hotel again the next night and go to the hotel across the road instead we found our meal there was absolutely fabulous and the premises so attractive compared to this hotel with it's horrid decor we wish we had stayed there instead.

My daughter and I had lunch here on a visit to the area. My lamb Souvlaki was tasty and authentic. Service was fine-prompt and pleasant, although you have to order and pay at the bar and then meals are brought to the table. The restaurant is on the main street with plenty of one hour parking nearby. They also have internet terminals available costing $3 for 30 minutes or $5 for an hour. We were pleased to be able to check our emails etc here.

We had been recommended here by a friend who loves her chicken parma's and so does my husband so thought we would have lunch here on our way to Bendigo. I decided to order the parma to try too, something different for me. Chicken breast fillet lightly bread crumbed with just the right amount of sauce and cheese, chicken was cooked well and still juicy. Served with chips and salad I didn't eat all mine there was just too much, but thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. Plenty of other meals as well to choose from, and staff were friendly and helpful when asked directions

We have enjoyed a wekend lunch at this pub a couple of times whilst out for a day trip to Daylesford .... and both times we were very pleased with the consistent good quality of our meals.

My husband ordered his pub favourite ... yes chicken parma and it was delicious! real chicken breast, generous size with chips and salad.

I had steak which had a nice mushroom sauce, cooked to my liking and very tender, with vegies and chips.

Staff at the bar counter were friendly and greeted you with a smile which is always appreciated.
