Diamond's Camera And Digital

Diamonds Camera sold me a faulty Polaroid camera and/or film, ruining my photos from day one (Christmas!). At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and took the hit on the cost of the film, assuming that was the issue. But when it became clear the camera itself was defective, I contacted them for a return.

Instead of taking responsibility for selling a faulty product, they refused to pay the return postage – which is legally their obligation under Australian Consumer Law. Not only did they refuse to comply with their legal duties, but they were also shockingly rude about it. They couldn’t care less about their customers once they’ve taken your money.

I have proof that the camera was defective from day one, yet Diamonds Camera is trying to dodge accountability. This is now being pursued through NSW Fair Trading and SA’s Consumer and Business Affairs. Their arrogance and lack of ethics are disgraceful.

If you value your hard-earned money, AVOID DIAMONDS CAMERA AT ALL COSTS. THEY SOLD ME A FAULTY PRODUCT, refuse to follow the law, and treat customers with contempt. Go to a reputable retailer instead.

I recently purchased an Olympus Lens with this company. I initially made an enquiry online and received a phone call the next morning. The item wasn’t in stock at the time however was contacted by the salesman when it was and the item was delivered within a short period. I found the customer service exceptional especially when this is sadly lacking so often..

I bought a compact Nikon digital camera from these guys about 8 months ago, and at the time they seemed fairly friendly, although the sales people would not listen to what I wanted and kept trying to push one particular brand, one that was embroidered on their store staff shirt, which makes me wonder if they already have an agenda to sell their preferred brand. Only 2 months after purchase, it broke. When I took it back they were only too happy to send it back to the manufacturer but when the camera returned from the manufacturer apparently fixed, I found the problem persisted. When I pointed this out, the staff tried to blame me for not taking proper care of the camera, which is unfair and untrue. I took extremely good care of the camera, never dropping it or knocking it at all. When I asked for a refund after the second time it broke, they refused, saying it had to be returned to the manufacturer of repairs again.

Skip forward a couple more months, and I have just had this camera returned to me after the third time of it breaking, the same problem. Constant "lens errors", freezing up, unable to read memory card etc. etc. Diamonds still refuse to give me a different camera or my money back. According to the Office of Business and Consumer Affairs, I am entitled to a refund if the product I purchase does not do what the salesperson says it will do. I am not mistreating the camera, nor do I have unrealistic expectations. All I want is a camera to take photos reliably. I will never again buy a Nikon digital camera, nor shop at Diamonds. Terrible quality and service which is fine until something goes wrong, then it definitely goes missing.
