Having a very excitable Siberian Husky, walking was always a nightmare, and going to the park usually meant having to chase her around for ages to get her back on lead. Through Richard's carefully structured obedience training schedule, I can now happily say that my husky is able to walk on lead without pulling my shoulders out, and has learnt that recall isn't the most terrible thing in the world. Although I am still training her on a long lead at the park as I do not trust her to come back every time without one, I am very happy with the skills and tips I've learnt through Richard, and I know that with time, patience and continued discipline, she will become a pleasure to take outside of the house.

Whilst I always knew that Shilo my flat coated retriever puppy was totally adorable thanks to Richard, everyone she meets now also shares that view! Richard has taught me that there is a big difference between dog training, and dog OBEDIENCE training :-) and hence the list of Shilos conquests ( shoes; baubles; half a sofa, whole salmon fillets) has reduced accordingly. I realise the key to Richards success is that he's training me not Shilo! The best part of all is that both Shilo and I really look forward to each session .

When we picked up our rescue puppy Zada (Alaskan malamute X), we knew we only wanted the best training for her so after a lot of research we decided to give Richard a call. During our first lesson Zada dragged me to the park but by the time we were walking home she was trotting along happily at Richards side and we knew we had made the right decision. Zada went from strength to strength during the next 5 weeks, learning sit, stay, down, recall and heel. I couldn't be happier with the service Richard provided, mostly training me so i was able to properly control Zada. Since our training Zada has grown into a big strong girl who i can confidently walk and control whilst out with my 2 young children. If you looking for a dog trainer who knows what hes doing, give Richard a call.

We had a few behavioural issues with our two mini schnanuzers (barking at night, jumping, bad recall) and needed some help to fix them! We chose to take a short course with Richard, and not only did he help us address these issues, but he also reignited our our interest in training our dogs to do a range of tricks. Richard has a lovely rapport with the dogs and his kind, but persistent training methods have been very effective. We thoroughly recommend Richard to all dog owners looking for extra support in training, help with bad habits / bad behaviours and establishing a strong bond with their furry babies! Thanks Richard!

Like most proud Beagle owners, I think we are all well aware of the joys and frustrations that come with this beautiful breed. And only beagle owners will know the sheer terror of the thought of taking your lovable fur face off their lead and honestly expecting them to return. My two adorable girls Poppy and Ellie had, on more than one occasion, left me standing with leads in hand, pleading at the top of my lungs for them to come back, only for me to watch them disappearing into the distance with reckless abandon. Tongues out and ears flapping in the wind, the joy on their faces from the absolute freedom my stupidity represented is burned into my memory. Countless buckets of sweat and tears were lost in my pursuit to negotiate with these two, but to no avail. I did not think it was ever going to be possible to walk my two off the lead without fear that they would defy me and run head first into oncoming traffic. That was until I met Richard from Doggonit. Richard listened to my concerns and gave me the foundations to get my lovable babies to do the unthinkable listen to me. Richards gentle manner and approach along with his easy to follow step by step weekly homework tasks transformed my babies from tear away renegades to absolute angels. His sessions were well structured and lots of fun not only for the beagles but for me too. His service is not only about dog training, but training people in understanding their four legged family a little bit better. Thank you Richard for helping me learn how to get the very best out of my beagle girls. We cannot thank you enough.

I have a twelve month old pug cross maltese (Chloe) who was in desperate need of some dog training after being too old for puppy training when I got her. She had started to run away whenever she saw an open door/gate. Richard, of Doggonit Obedience Training, saved the day and I have never looked back! Richard has an amazing way with dogs and Chloe warmed to him instantly! Richard also has an amazing way with people - he was more than happy for me to bring the whole family along so we could all learn how to best manage her behaviour. Richard gave us practical ideas that really worked! He tailored the dog obedience training to match Chloe's and my needs. He also had realistic expectations and educated me on what to do after our introductory course. I saw improvements in her behaviour and in my own confidence to manage her after the first session. After our five sessions it was amazing how much her behaviour has improved. She can now sit, drop, heel, stay, stand and come most of the time, even when there are some distractions. One the one time she ran out the door, she came back as soon as she was called. She still is excited with visitors, however will sit and stay now while I open the door. Richard has really improved how we all interact with Chloe. I would highly recommend Doggonit Obedience Training to anyone looking for puupy/dog training.

Banjo and Sadie, our five-month old Jack Russells, certainly needed some puppy training as much as we did. We wanted the whole family to be involved and after being told that our kids werent old enough to control our puppies at the dog clubs, we found Doggonit through a google search. Within minutes of meeting, Richard had our puppies eating out of his hand. After our first dog training session with Richard, there was a noticeable improvement. After only 5 weeks they walk rather than pull us around the park; sit, drop, stay and come most of the time. They are still only puppies and while they continue to love digging to China and getting excited about visitors, Richard has given us all the skills to continue their education as they grow. We also have the option of refresher courses should we need them. What more could you ask of a dog obedience training course than one that takes into account the dogs, the owners and their individual circumstances? Doggonit gave us that and more. Richards dog knowledge and the extra tips he told us makes the interaction between the two- and four-legged family members a much more enjoyable experience for everyone. Thanks Richard and Doggonit!

What would we have done without Richard? I am in my late 60's but we decided we'd like one more German Shepherd and from past experience, knew there was a lot of hard work ahead of us. We decided that the 'one on one' training would be the best for us and it has really paid off. Our boy is still a boisterous 9 month old ( about 36 kilos now so could be a real handful! ) but with Richard pointing him in the right direction it's a pleasure to have him in our lives. Thanks Richard for your hard work and the advice you have given us. Please remember that a well behaved dog who knows his place in the family is a HAPPY dog and will make you happy too, so doggonit - go for it!

BEAGLES! Handsome, loyal and loving, smart, strong willed and so difficult to train! My adult children gave me an 8 week old Beagle pup since I have retired. I thought my "training" of 10 word commands, waving of arms and jumping up and down, would be enough. My pup just looked at me like I was crazy and went on doing expected but destructive puppy behaviour- chewing on everything, taking off down the street, carpet toileting, etc. I felt like I needed to give my pup away after 2 weeks but instead I called around and was referred to Doggonit Obedience training and started a session with Richard. The best decision I have made. I highly recommend training with Richard even for young pups. My Beagle had a strong personality from the start and after training with Richard, my Beagle is so delightful to be around and now my best friend. Even on a dog beach with alot of distractions, my pup returns to me on every recall, which is very unusual for Beagles who follow their nose for long distances! My pup and I are having fun together now- thanks to Richard.
