Fiona has supported me during both my pregnancies. She is extremely warm and caring person. I have had an easy ride without any concerns over the care period both times. She is amazing , and highly recommend her to anyone needing expert advice and A+ care.

Dr Fiona Cowell was our obstetrician for our little girl who was born in June 2020 - smack bang in the middle during COVID harsh lockdowns.

I found Fiona to be so personable, supportive, knowledgable and informative throughout my pregnancy - and she was a truly wonderful doctor to have by my side when giving birth. We had a wonderful experience with her.

We will 100% be engaging with Fiona to be our Ob for all our future children. I couldn't recommend her any more - she is fantastic.

It’s been a couple of years since Fiona delivered my first child and we are going ahead with her again for our second pregnancy (of course!).
She is beyond caring and professional, and has a relaxed approach to situations that puts an anxious pregnant woman at ease. I really looked forward to our regular checkups and I felt confident knowing that I was receiving the best care possible.
She is an outstanding obstetrician and I am extremely fortunate to have had her expertise during such a life changing time.

The delivery of my son ended up having to happen quite quickly and she was fantastic under pressure, without me or my husband being concerned at all. I would definitely recommend Fiona!

I cannot recommend Dr Fiona highly enough. She is extremely no nonsense, practical and professional while also taking the time to listen to your needs and take into account your personal birth preferences. All my birth questions were always answered well, backed up by evidence and best-practise information. Dr Fiona is skilled in all types of deliveries which made me feel at ease before the big day. Coupled with this I also found her rather funny, making regular appointments with her something to look forward to!

We were referred to Fiona after suffering a number of loss pregnancies. My anxiety levels were very high regarding my pregnancy working and Fiona went out of her way to reassure me that everything was ok and spent the time on additional appointments and scans to put my mind at ease. I would and have highly recommended Fiona too soon to be Mama’s.

Dr Fiona Cowell is very warm and lively at the same time. She is there to answer your questions and respects your decision. Too bad our VBAC plan didn't go through as I need to have an emergency CS. I admire her for being good at what she does

My husband and I chose Dr Fiona Cowell as our obstetrician for the birth of our first child. We were immediately impressed with Fiona’s warm and caring personality and felt at ease with her straight away. Our pregnancy was not straight forward. At our 20 week scan, our daughter was diagnosed with a multi-cystic dysplastic kidney. It was terribly stressful and traumatic to hear that our tiny baby had a kidney full of cysts, but Fiona’s professionalism and care helped us through the journey. Fiona arranged for us to meet with a paediatric kidney specialist at the Royal Children’s Hospital, who helped us understand the condition, and she listened attentively to all our concerns and worries. After every appointment we felt more calm and positive. Our daughter was a breech baby, so Fiona performed a planned C-Section. Despite the concerns about our daughter’s kidney, Fiona’s terrific bedside manner helped make the delivery a very positive experience.
For our second pregnancy, we wanted to return to Fiona, but as I was no longer working and we were trying to save money we decided to try the public system.
Unfortunately, we suffered a miscarriage at 10 weeks and another at 11 weeks.
After two miscarriages in-a-row, we decided we wanted to return to Fiona and the wonderful care she provided. It was the best decision we could have made. The first trimester was particularly nerve wracking, but Fiona kindly arranged for me to visit her on a weekly basis to hear the baby’s heartbeat. This additional attention really helped us get through the first 13 weeks. I looked forward to each appointment and Fiona’s kindness, positive attitude, humour and extensive knowledge, meant that I always left feeling better and more relaxed. Luckily, our fourth pregnancy was free from any complications. I made the decision to have another planned C-Section, based on experiences from my earlier pregnancies and Fiona was supportive of my decision. The birth of our son was calm and uncomplicated.
My husband and I are very grateful to Fiona for the advice and reassurance she gave us with our daughter’s pregnancy and the extra attention and generosity she provided throughout our son’s pregnancy.

Fiona made the experience of having our first baby a pleasure. Professional, caring, available for advice and reassurance and kind hearted. The birth was challenging, however I felt completely at ease knowing Fiona was making the right decisions for myself and my baby. If the time should come for another baby, we will definitely be seeing Fiona again.

I went to Fiona because of the reviews online and I couldnt have made a bettrr choice! I came to Fiona in the 8th month of my pregnancy but she made us feel like weve know. Her forever. Each apointment she went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and when D day camr she was out of this world! I couldnt have been in better hands. She doesnt rush through anything or take any shortcuts and does what is best for the baby and mother as opposed to whats the quickest way out! My husband had to leave so she induced me at 40 plus 5 days and though I was nervous she made thr experience a totally painfree and comfortable one! My baby and I are healthy and happy and cant thank Fiona enough! I would come back to her for allllll my other babies whenever they may br!

I am writing a review for Dr Fiona Cowell as we chose her as our obstetrician based on her outstanding reviews on the internet. As a first time mother I was relatively young (26). I questioned whether it was worth paying for private health as I was typically ‘low risk' given my age and health history. My husband always said it was just in case something went wrong. And unfortunately for me, it did, as I developed quite severe preeclampsia which resulted in my baby having to be delivered early. However, I am so thankful and grateful for Fiona, who was an outstanding doctor every step of the way. What I can say about Fiona is the following:
She is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced. Her decision making is always well considered and in my case the timing of her decisions were perfect. Whenever I told a midwife that my obstetrician was Fiona, they always spoke about her with respect, saying that she was always present on the ward, easy to communicate with, efficient with her admin and easy to work with. They said sometimes they had to chase other doctors up but never Fiona. This was also my experience as a patient. When I was admitted to the hospital I had daily contact/liaison with Fiona and felt like I received very personalised care. When you are unwell and stressed this makes a HUGE difference!
Fiona works with a team of other doctors which allows them to do part time hours. I had contact with three out of four of the doctors they were all exceptionable, knowledgeable, reassuring and their good working relationships were clear to me. They effectively communicated with each other, so on the rare occasion that Fiona was not available, I felt reassured that I was in good hands.

I cannot recommend Fiona highly enough and I am so grateful to her for all she for me and my daughter Ella.

i will highley reccemend this doctor she is professional she knows what she is talking about she has respected all my wishes one of the best doctors out there. if u ever need an doctor in the area of fitzroy i would reccemend this doctor.

If your pregnant this is a great doctor to see for prenatal care. She is very professional but friendly with a good sense of humor. If you need a doctor during your pregnancy I would pick this doctor.

Fiona is an amazing obstertrician. I can't recommend her highly enough. She took me through a fairly straight forward pregnancy with such joy and humour. I looked forward to each appointment with her. Most importantly she was so caring and professional during a complicated labour and eventual emergency c-section delivery of my baby boy. I wouldn't go to any other obstetrician. My husband and I love her!!

She took care of my mental wellbeing as well as my physical health and was there for me when things got tough. She was very respectful of our wishes and was a great source of information. The moment we met Fiona we were struck by her warmth and enthusiasm; her professionalism and commitment to personalized care. We knew we had found the perfect obstetrician for us, and so it turned out to be.

My labour was long and potentially complicated, but thanks to Fiona's modern approach and respect for our wishes, we were able to have a natural delivery with both my son and I enjoying good health. Fiona visited us and cared for me at regular intervals through out the 24 hour labour, and was in contact with the midwives even in the darkest hours of the night. Fiona's calm, optimistic and honest approach ensured that we always felt informed and empowered, and had complete trust in her advice. She takes a collaborative approach to working with the midwives and it is clear that all her colleagues have the utmost respect for her.

Fiona had taken the time to get to know me and my husband through out the pregnancy, and the quality of this relationship provided immeasurable comfort during what is a challenging, life changing and wonderful experience.

I stayed in hospital for five days and Fiona visited us each day, providing advice and sharing in our joy. In fact, I missed her terribly once we went home and realized that our regular visits were a thing of the past!

Fiona is a compassionate, intelligent and highly competent woman. She holds a special place in our hearts and I can't imagine having another baby without her!

She played such an important role in ensuring the safe and happy arrival of our baby girl.

I found Fiona via St Vincent's Private list of Obstetricians and after checking her website out, I was reasonably pleased. I don't think I could have asked for a better doctor. Fiona has a wonderful bedside manner and is direct without offending. As I was induced, Fiona was there for me every step of the way, explaining to me what will happen and what some of the experiences might feel like. I felt extremely comforted when Fiona delivered my daughter, especially as I was having a few complications.

Fiona has a great sense of humour and constantly makes you feel at ease and that you can ask her any questions, no matter how dumb or stupid you think they might be.

I would highly recommend Fiona to family and friends.

Fiona was my obstetrician during my first (and only pregnancy). I shopped around looking for a male but ended up with Fiona because of word of mouth. I am extremely happy I went with Fiona.

She was very relaxed and easy to get along with. Fiona answered all of my question no matter how trivial. she always ran on time and was always very friendly.

I ended up having to have a c-section due to my daughters breech positioning and Fiona was excellent in the lead up and through the ECV. I was quite worried about the c-section however Fiona put my mind at easy asnwering all the question I had.

After the c-section and during her and her colleagues kept me informed as to what was going on and delivered my baby safely. I made a very speedy recovery and my scar is very clean.

I will definitely go back to Fiona if we have any more children.
