I have been fortunate enough to have had Dr Joe deliver all 3 of my babies over the past 5 years. His bedside manner, care and genuine love of his job makes him a wonderful obstetrician. He is knowledgeable, calm, has a great bedside manner and ALWAYS has a smile on his face. His admin team and midwives are approachable and friendly too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dr Joe.

Joe made everything seem easy and less stressful! The whole team was very supportive during COVID restrictions with support person not allowed to attend appointments.

Dr Joe and his team have provided me with such wonderful care for both of my pregnancies. Dr Joe safely delivered my two babies, one in July 2019 and the other just recently in November 2021. My births were both calm and joyful, and I felt informed, supported and cared for every step of the way. If I couldn’t get onto Joe during my pregnancies (busy delivering other bubba’s) for any worries or advice the midwives Libby and Jess were always available and SO amazing and knowledgeable and supportive. Dr Joe and the team also supported me so empathetically through a difficult ectopic pregnancy before falling pregnant with my 2nd. I have always felt I was in the safest hands with Dr Joe; he is calm, reassuring and it is clear to see how passionate he is about his work.
I miss attending my appointments and seeing the whole team! I felt a bit sad at my last 6 week postnatal appointment not knowing if/when I’ll be back, but I am so so thankful to the whole team. Might have to go for round 3! ;)

We had our first baby under the care of Dr. Joe and team back in Aug 2021. Throughout the pregnancy, Dr. Joe and his team were always available to us, including the times when I had to ring the after-hour number after numerous bleedings on weekends.

Dr. Joe was always calm and reassuring. He projected confidence which gave us comfort that we were in good hands. Dr. Joe had a communication style that was short and sweet, which worked well with me as I’m the type who likes to go for conciseness and clarity.

Appointments were easy to schedule and reschedule with the full time receptionist (who also booked major scan appointments for me), and while Dr. Joe himself was always busy and might have had to rush to the next emergency of the day, his team of midwives were always reachable to answer my (non-urgent) questions via emails and phone calls.

The birth day package we received (containing a storybook, some products and a Pure Baby wrap) was a very nice cherry on top.

Dr Joe is an extraordinary doctor who continually puts his patients and their families before his own. I received the highest quality care throughout my pregnancy and can’t thank Joe enough! I was closely monitored throughout my pregnancy, I knew I could call him any time of the day or night if I had any concerns. Even right up until the birth of our son he was on call, readily available for when I needed him. He’s extremely passionate, caring and reassuring. These are the qualities we looked for in an obstetrician.
The girls behind the front desk who are so busy making and changing appointments are fantastic to deal with, they were always so accommodating and able to assist in any way they could.
Libby - the midwife, is very patient and answered my many questions no matter how silly they were. She’s very reassuring and has a great sense of humour! Her caring nature shone every time I met with her.
A true team of champions! We look forward to returning in the future.

We saw Joe for both fertility services and obstetrics over the course of about 18 months. He and his team were fantastic and we couldn’t recommend them highly enough. We felt so well supported during the fertility process and very well cared for throughout pregnancy and labour.

I asked to be referred to Dr Joe when we were trying to conceive as I had heard and read great things about him. He was wonderful throughout the whole journey from helping us to fall pregnant right through to the birth of bub and afterwards. He took the time to explain everything in detail at each appointment and I felt very supported. His team are also very friendly and helpful. We will be seeing him when we hope to conceive baby no. 2!

If you are looking for an OB that is excellent at his work, provides useful information and tips, explains any questions through out your pregnancy journey and stays calm then Dr Joe is your man. I delivered my second baby in Sep 2019 and had a great experience. Dr Joe was always very caring, was extremely thorough with any diagnosis and managed to stay calm. I owe my speedy recovery postpartum to Dr Joe and his team. Thanks a lot doc and keep up the great work!

We were so lucky to have Dr Joe and his team look after us during our pregnancy. I had a few complications and Dr Joe was so caring and dedicated during this time. Elise and the team were also so lovely.

We were referred to dr joe via Melbourne ivf.
He did not have a good bedside manner, my husband and I went there for information and too start testing after 1 year tying to conceive. We had tests, which came back negative for my husband and told me i need to cut my uterus..oh and that i could never conceive naturally.. turns out he was wrong .. so glad i wanted a 2nd opinion. Overall i would not recommend him at all

It was such a pleasure to have Dr Joe look after us during pregnancy and a blessing through a miscarriage. He takes the time to go above and beyond, answering any questions and making your journey as comfortable as possible during pregnancy & post natal care. I could not recommend him highly enough. My GP referred me to Dr Joe when I was struggling to conceive my first, stating that she had received great feedback from other patients. We saw Dr Joe to conceive my first and then went back to see him again for my second conception and pregnancy care. Dr Joe and his team provided excellent care throughout my fertility journey, pregnancy and birth of my second baby. Dr Joe has a great way of explaining medical terms or procedures that might be hard to understand and it was a wonderful experience for my husband and I. Dr Joe is just wonderful, we were so lucky to have him guide us on our journey to parenthood. He's professional, calm, empathetic, takes a conservative approach and always has a great analogy for explaining medical terms or procedures that might be hard to get your head around. He is well regarded in medical circles too, I had independant midwifes at our childbirth course and a local nurse doing a blood test singing his praises. We'd been trying to conceive for 9 months before seeing Joe and he was able diagnose our issue within a few months... a year after initially seeing him I was pregnant. We are so grateful for this beautiful new life he has brought to our family. So many thanks to you Joe, Elise and team!

Dr Joe and his team were amazingly supportive during our very anxious second pregnancy. He made himself available around the clock to listen to all of my concerns and spent a lot of time answering my endless questions! We will definitely be seeing him again if we decide to have another baby.

Having started our fertility and pregnancy journey years before meeting Dr Joe we cannot recommend him highly enough. I gave birth to my first baby on Feb 6th 2018. Joe & all staff were very professional & attentive from start to end. The midwives & receptionists provided a fantastic service. All were friendly. Joe is very experienced at his job & knowledgable. I felt confident throughout my pregnancy. All my questions were answered by Joe & midwives. Joe made sure my baby was growing well as expected till the end, by scan.
'Most importantly' Joe was present during my labour & he delivered my baby. All went well, I had a natural birth. Joe was always available to answer any questions prior to birth & post birth. For the duration of my stay at Epworth, Joe visited every day to see how things were going with bub & myself & answer any questions I had. Overall great professional service. An excellent and caring obstetrician with a wonderful team. I felt in very good hands the whole way through and had a great experience with my planned cesarian and hospital stay.

My husband and I could not speak more highly of Dr Joe & the care we received throughout our pregnancy journey. His relaxed and down to earth nature made us both feel totally at ease which I think had a lot to do with the pregnancy and birth experience we had. Joe was also very respectful of our requests and desires for our birth and did what ever he could to ensure our wishes which turned out to be everything we wanted! We 100% will be going back to Joe for our second child should we be so lucky, we already miss our appointments!

If you are like me reading these reviews trying to decide which Obstetrician to choose I honestly can not recommend Dr.Joe more highly. Having a Baby has always been my absolute dream however the thought of Child birth was totally petrifying. During my pregnancy journey Dr.Joe’s caring, professional, attentive & relaxed approach instilled confidence in me. On game day I went into Epworth feeling far from petrified & more so extremely excited about my dream of becoming a Mummie! Jack is now 6 weeks old & my Partner Craig & I are very grateful for Dr. Joe’s wonderful work. Elise his Practice Manager is an absolute joy to deal with & I’ll miss seeing her friendly self during my appointments. A big Thank you to Tayla & Jenny for their attentiveness also. Joe is an incredible doctor and also a lovely guy. As a high risk patient, he provided exceptional care and I couldn't have felt safer in his hands. His staff are all amazing as well. Dr Sgroi and his wonderful support team cared for us for 2 years during our fertility treatment, subsequent pregnancy, birth of our son and our post natal care. I couldn’t have been happier with the excellent care we received. Joe has an enormous amount of compassion and empathy and gave us many well explained options throughout our treatment to allow us to make an informed decision on each step of the path we took. His midwives and admin staff are terrific, making an often difficult and challenging treatment course that little bit easier to bear.
