I jarred my back whilst walking my dog Ed because he use to pull so hard. I also had absolutely no control over him. In the end I refused to take him out anymore. Then I met Michael. I can now walk Ed holding onto his lead with my little finger. Walking him is now both of our favourite part of the day. I cannot believe he is the same dog. The result was so fast and is sensational. I cannot thank the team enough.

We took our dog Codie to Eastern Companion, through a recommendation.Michael assessed our dog and started a programe with her as she came from a broken home. Michael suggested Boot camp for her as she came from a home where she was mistreated and suffered Anxiety and no socialization with other dogs at all. After bootcamp (12 days) Codie was a at least 90% better than before we sent her there. We continue going to training with her, and been promoted to the Advance class..She improves each and every day. We found Micheal and staff to be approachable, generally interested in the well being of all the dogs he trains. Always listens to your needs. And always gives great advice. Cost is very reasonable for the results you will achieve with your dog.

Approximate cost: $10

I honestly can't recommend Eastern Companion Dog Training highly enough: it has made a massive difference to our lives. We have taken our dog there regularly for two and a half years, since she was only 12 weeks old. I wanted to post this review in response to the previous one posted here, as I have found this a very friendly and family-oriented place, with a whole range of dogs (both large and small, with all types of breeds and cross-breeds). As for the training itself, Michael, the trainer, has so much knowledge to draw on (as do the other trainers who also attend the sessions). The approach is all-rounded, preparing the dog for the sorts of situations the dog has to cope with in everyday life. Training includes things like “socialisation” to objects like vacuum cleaners, skateboards, and brooms, and so on. There's also a lot of equipment for the dog to develop confidence with (bridge, A-frame, jumps, barrel etc.). The obedience training itself is designed for a whole range of circumstances: in the park, at home, at the shops, amid traffic, crossing roads and so on. And, if you have any issues at all with your dog (like barking or jumping up or anything else that you're concerned about, such as behaviour with other dogs), then Michael and the trainers are also able to give personalised attention. As we hadn't had a dog since we were kids, we found our dog quite challenging at the start, and didn't really know what we were doing, so we were really pleased to find somewhere like Eastern Companion. And, as I said before, it really is a friendly place.

I originally thoroughly enjoyed taking my puppy to train here - they were very friendly, professional and helpful, they understand dogs and are very good at what they do. The first 4 puppy classes are free and the membership after that is very reasonably priced. They gave me some food for my puppy to try because she has stinky breath which was really generous of them.

I only attended 2 classes - I stopped going because other people training their dogs there and I think maybe even some people whos dogs were used as demonstration - made nasty comments such as 'my dog would eat that' etc (my dog is very small and I guess they think its funny to threaten the life of my pet). I had also noticed some staff point and laugh at my dog (I presume again because of my dogs size) - she is just as intelligent and able to be trained as any other dog, she should have just as much right to be there and taken seriously as any other dog, I just think thats really hurtful and rude.
