Wonderful hotel , great experience

Enjoyed a carvery lunch here to celebrate our grandson's birthday. Choice of lamb, port or beef or some of each meat. Baked vegetables and salads available in self serve area. Huge amount of meat served. Very friendly and helpful staff and extremely well priced. Seems to be a favourite spot for our extended family . A sunday meal I think

After shopping nearby, my husband and I came here for our dinner. We had the rump steak that was the special (20) for Thursday nights. 500 gms of meat and a reasonable salad bar. However this time we found the meat to have very little flavour. May just have been unlucky this time. We had a friendly greeting and a table overlooking the sea and a beautiful sunset. Will order something different next time

This Hotel (affectionately known as "The Espy"), is wonderfully located right on the sea front, with a great view of the beach and the Brighton Jetty.
Meals are quite good and reasonably priced. Service has always been fine. Sail covered area out the front, with table and chairs, for those who like the fresh salt air and the afternoon sun.
Being right on the beach, means that during the warmer days, parking is at a premium - it's free but hard to find close by. Just make sure you are prepared to walk a bit, to get from your car to the dining room.
If the pub is full, there are several cafe's on the other side of the road, that are always bustling with customers. It's a real lively area, with lots of sidewalk seating.

Fantastic food, right on the beachfront... Parking can be a challenge but everything's pretty close & in the entertainment book!

Another meeting with our coffee morning friends here in our favourite meeting spot. Great mugs of coffee or hot chocolate served by friendly staff. No pressure to hurry up and leave. Very clean and tidy and there is a great cafe menu here in this part of the hotel. It operates like a cafe. Elsewhere there is a bistro/dining room with salad/vegetable bar etc. The cafe area is very popular with groups who go for a walk along the beach and then have refreshments. Loyalty card here too.

Had a belated birthday lunch with our family and their friends at the cafe section of the Esplanade Hotel. Very busy but all the meals were well presented. The fillet mignon was prepared as asked for - medium to well done which meant it was just nicely cooked through. One of the nicest steak meals I have eaten for a long time.

This hotel is on the esplanade overlooking the Brighton Jetty. Met friends here for coffee and sat outside in the extensive seating area. This is enclosed by glass to protect from the breeze. A very relaxed area and as we talk a lot we do not feel pressured to move on. Inside seating inside a bar area but more like a coffee shop. The dining room is in another area so plenty of room. Love visiting both areas.

Came here for a work lunch, this venue is a great location with a beach view, service was great and couldn't knock it. I ordered a chicken parmigiana and it came out and was nice and big, the salad was fresh and the parmi was awesome, will definitely come back if I'm in the area

Came here for the buffet breakfast, which they have every Sunday and Public Holidays.
They offered sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, mushroom, tomatoes, fruits, cereals, pancakes, yoghurt, bread and baked beans. There was an interesting style of toaster available to cook the breads. Each of the other items were in a warmer tray, which they would continually top up.

We had a seat by the window overlooking the beach. Pleasant breakfast with a fantastic view. Service was as expected.

What a lovely location. My friend and I sat in the outside dining area, which has a lovely view of the foreshore. The table area had been kept clean. It was a Thursday lunch time and the hotel was fairly busy. There was quite a long line to order, so it took about 15 minutes to actually order lunch. I ordered the fish and chips which came with a side salad. The meal took around 30 minutes to be delivered to the table. I had a soft drink to accompany my meal which cost around $4.00 for the glass, which is around average for this type of establishment.

The meal was nice and I would definitely consider dining hear again.

Recently my family and I went here for a meal and to catch up with the extended family. The lunch menu is quite reasonably priced at $13.90 included in that price is a veg/salad bar which had a reasonable variety including bread. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, there is a kids enclosed play area and the bathroom facilities were nice and clean. Will definitely be going there again.

We had a shocker of an experience here last Sunday. Having been many times before and having good food and good service, this was appalling. Nothing suitable for vegans (and no effort to accomodate at all), hubby's spinach was drowning in water, coffees were not delivered after 20 minutes, so hubby went and collected them himself off the bench! People were walking out of the restaurant as staff were giggling and laughing behind the counter.....shocking.

We get to the Espy regularly for a meal and really enjoy the experience. If the weather's fine the al fresco area on the Esplanade is great spot to sit and enjoy a latte or a wine/beer. Inside there is a large dining area with large windows which overlook the Brighton jetty and allow you to enjoy the beautiful seascape (hint: if you book early you can ask to be seated close to these windows). There is another eating area inside right on the corner and this is nice too. We tried a variety of meals here and have not been disappointed .. good quality and not too expensive. Sometimes they have a special deal on oysters and this is well worth hopping in for (loooooove their kilpatrick varieties!).

Always great quality food at a reasonable price. Staff are friendly. Great location, with a nice view of the beach if you can get a window seat. Spacious dining area with outside seating available and you the outside seating is dog friendly. This review is for the cafe not the bistro.

I took my staff here for Melbourne Cup Lunch. When booking the staff member was very accommodating to my requests. On the day when we arrived, the table settings were great and the staff were in the Cup frame of mind. Our food was great, on time and came out all together. A good wine list too

The food at the Espy is good in general- We prefer dining in the cafe & outside area than the bistro because we love the specials. Meals are usual price for the quality of the food. I love the Vegetable stack on the menu at the moment. Having said that, we've also dined in the Bistro a few times & the roast was very cheap & very delicious. Definitely our favourite local pub.

Enjoy visiting this hotel for a meal and also for coffee. When going for a meal we usually have extended family for celebrations. There is an extensive menu and also specials. Prices vary depending on selection. Also a salad and vegetable bar which has a good range.

There is a children's play area and it can be difficult to remove grandchildren to eat their dinner.

When having coffee in another area it is great to watch the waves on a rainy windy day. On nice days sit outside in the sun. There is food and snacks available in this area also

Went here for breakfast; nice place, good service. Would have been great to see something vegan on the menu, or at least items not pre-made so that non-vegan ingredients could be removed. Just a thought.

Really nice place for a relaxing, quality meal at a very reasonable price. The Espy is very clean and tidy, a lovely place to take friends and family!

Been here or dinner during the weeknights and the food and service was great. Good atmosphere and was quite busy. Reasonable prices for food and drinks.

The Esplanade Hotel would have to be one of my favourite places for week-night dining. Most nights of the week there is a special deal - eg Tuesday nights are roast night, Wednesday night is cheap schnitzel night, and some nights kids eat free. There is a kids play area with computer games and toys - quite good quality stuff and the kids love playing there, there is a good kids menu and the service is extremely friendly and very fast - we ordered our meals there last time and they came out within around 10 minutes! The view is outstanding as well - if you are lucky enough to go there during the day or early in the evening you will be able to look directly out over the ocean and jetty. Great atmosphere and outlook. Also they have a cafe section with outdoor dining (The Espy Cafe) and that area is a dog friendly dining area which is really nice for dog owners too.

Average Cafe/pub on the beach. Nice coffee large selection of snacks and meals at average prices. Get the lamb yiros pizza it comes out with iceburg lettece on top and is pretty tasty

A really nice local place. The views at dinner time are great of the beach and the sunset. The food and service is good and the prices are very reasonable.

This is a fairly regular haunt for us. Their are 2 areas to eat in and both are quite different. The 'upstairs' bistro is not so great, but the area 'downstairs' and outside has a much better menu. Lovely to sit here in the warmer months as it is a busy street. They also do a great breakfast.

Great food, breakfast is especially yummy, lots of choices, you can sit outside and eat in a dog friendly area, if you want.
