We took the kids from Airlie out to Reefworld. The staff can't do enough for you, and seem to have a ball doing their jobs. The food was excellent, and the facilities great fun. The whole family had 2 snorkelling session. Advice - take something for the kids to do on the trip, it takes longer than you'd think! Very comfortable and plenty of places to sit. The captain took us and the kids up to his control area and let the kids sit in the seat. Service over and above expectations. Thankyou highly recommended.

The Fanatsea ferry from Hamilton Island harbour to Reefworld on the Great Barrier Reef was a bit bumpy but was well air conditioned and the staff were very friendly and helped out my in-laws as they got very sea sick on the journey! At Reefworld they give demonstrations on how to use the snorkelling equipment, safety information and then you get to go snorkelling along the rope guided trails. There were so many fish and types of coral to look at. There was on big big big fish that kept following everyone around and letting people pat it! After a couple of hours we got out of the water and had a lunch break enjoying salads and cold meats from the smorgasbord of foods that were set up. We then went on the half submarine type boat (glass sides so you can see the coral and fish at their level as it cruises around). They made a dvd of the day which included lots of footage of each of the participants which was a great souvenir although expensive. Can't wait to go again!

Driving between Townsville & Airlie Beach, every billboard we drove past was trumpeting Fantasea! And loudly! So we went to see what all the fuss was about & now we understand why. Firstly, their front office was set up more like a cafe, with food & drinks (& aircon!) & its service with a smile all the way. They're bright & fun, & their boats are impressive. The reefworld tour will blow your socks off! If you're wearing any!? Bring plenty of money so you can pay for the extras once your out there - like the snorkelling & DVD.
