My husband and I bought a kilo of ocean king prawns and a moreton bay bug for a celebration dinner. The quality of the seafood was amazing - delicious! The service was fast and very friendly. They also have a takeaway shop there which we are keen to try.

These guys do a roaring trade at lunch for both there cooked and fresh seafood. They have one of the best ranges of fresh seafood I have seen with whole fish and specialised things such as live pipis and sea urchin. There cooked seafood is fresh with a nice crisp batter and their mixed grill is fantastic. It's a little bit expensive but worth it.

you want fresh seafood then this is the place, lots of choice. They also cook onsite and offer sandwiches etc for lunch. Lots of parking out the front and the service is good. Note: it gets extremely busy christmas eve, the lines go down the street.

Approximate cost: $10

I love places that cook their fresh seafood

A piece of fish on it's own is $4, but adding chips and a drink adds another $5! Seemed a bit much, and took a little while to get served, but otherwise great tasting food.

Approximate cost: $12

After losing their original premises to fire, and trading out of their wholesale warehouse, Fish Factory has opened it's lovely new store. Large display counters in the middle of the store show off the lovely fresh seafood, and tucked down one end of the store is a take-away option for something ready to go.
Today we picked up some Coffin Bay oysters which as always were top notch, as well as Bundaberg Red Spot prawns, and some squid. The quality of the seafood is high, and so we are happy to pay the asking price. The service, while efficient and friendly could do with going just a tiny bit further (wrapping the purchased bags of seafood in paper before putting them in the plastic shopping bag will prevent seafood leaks in the car!)
All in all its about the seafood- and they don't disappoint!

We went to the Fish Factory at Colmslie when we realised that Raptis Seafood had closed its retail shop - this place was just down the road. The variety of fresh seafood was pretty impressive, with the Mooloolaba King Prawns and Townsville Tiger Prawns both high quality. Price was interesting - we asked for 500g of each and promptly received 600g of the expensive Tiger Prawns and 400g of the less expensive King Prawns - we didn't realise until after we'd left the shop when looking at the receipt. It was late in the day I guess and it meant a higher sale price. We were also sold a $8.95 prawn and mango dip (price was not advertised), which turned out to be very disappointing.

Approximate cost: $20
